In 2007, a remarkable series began that would capture the hearts and imaginations of countless fans.

Fast forward to January 10, 2015, and it was with a heavy heart that I witnessed the conclusion of this truly incredible series.

The anticipation leading up to the final episode was palpable, and as the credits rolled, a sense of sadness washed over me.

This series had become such an important part of my life, and saying goodbye was not easy.

The characters had become like old friends, and their stories had touched me in ways I never thought possible.

Although the series has ended, the memories and emotions it evoked will stay with me forever.

I will always cherish the time I spent watching and following this amazing series.

One of the best manga series I have ever read is truly a remarkable piece of work.

It is an extremely old Isekai story that stands out for its extensive world-building and incredibly intricate development.

The detailed and immersive world that the author has created is truly captivating, drawing readers in and making them feel as if they are a part of it.

Compared to Red River, this manga is relatively sweet, yet it is still filled with exciting adventures that keep the readers on the edge of their seats.

The characters are well-developed and engaging, and their relationships add depth and emotion to the story.

I cannot recommend this manga highly enough. It is a must-read for any fan of the Isekai genre or anyone who enjoys a well-written and captivating story.

So, if you are looking for a manga that will transport you to another world and keep you entertained from start to finish, then this is the one for you.

Aaaaaand, finally, it's done. Thank god! What a waste of time this has been. I had this glimmer of hope that I might be wrong right up until the very end. But alas, it seems that my initial assessment was correct. I spent so much time and effort on this task, only to come to this conclusion. It's really quite frustrating. However, I guess it's all part of the learning process. Maybe next time, I'll be more accurate in my predictions. Or perhaps I'll find a more efficient way to approach similar tasks. But for now, I'm just glad that it's over and done with.

Definitely, it's a bit convenient that everyone got their happy ending without any loose ends and nobody (except the antagonists, of course) died or suffered any consequences. But, like the next person, I also like a happy ending, so I don't really mind.

As a whole, this manga is definitely not suitable for everyone! The original manga was released from the early 1990s to the early 2000s, and the art style really reflects that era. Just think about it: impossibly long and skinny limbs, narrow waists, broad shoulders (for the men), big eyes (for the women), and outdated hairstyles. As for the plot, I found the middle volumes (from around volume 6 to volume 11) to be rather meandering and repetitive, almost like "filler". In my opinion, the first and last couple of volumes were the best. They had a stronger narrative and more engaging storylines that really drew me in and kept me interested until the very end.

The experience was actually quite good.

However, without being overly critical, the only drawback I found in this volume was that when it came to finalizing the fates of each character, it seemed to be done in a rather rushed manner.

I firmly believe that if there had been another volume or two, it would have brought a more satisfying conclusion to this series.

It felt as though some of the storylines and character developments could have been explored in greater depth and detail, rather than being wrapped up so quickly.

Nonetheless, the overall quality of the volume was still quite high, and I look forward to seeing how the series progresses in the future.

This review pertains to the entire series, rather than just this particular volume.

Kanata Kara is truly the first time-travel story that has completely captivated me regarding such themes. It is simply amazing. The romance within it is not without purpose or meaning. The conflicts are not only intense but also highly significant. Moreover, its character development and pacing are truly excellent. The ending is just perfect as well!

I have always felt that my reviews of Kanata Kara (or any other series by Kyoko Hikawa-sensei) are insufficient. So, there is really nothing else I can say except: read this! I give you my guarantee that you will never have any regrets.

It is a story that will draw you in, make you feel a range of emotions, and leave you with a sense of satisfaction. Whether you are a fan of time-travel stories or not, Kanata Kara is definitely worth your time and attention.

Review for series as a whole:

First and foremost, hello Anime Industry! I must express my confusion as to why this particular story has not been animated. It truly has the potential to be a captivating anime.

When it comes to the story itself, it was a rather interesting read. It had a few unexpected twists that kept me engaged throughout. Among the numerous "teenager transported to another world" (or isekai for manga readers) plots out there, this one stands out as one of the better ones. The concept was well-developed, and the characters were relatively likable.

However, I have to admit that the ending was a bit lackluster. It felt rushed and didn't quite live up to the expectations set by the rest of the series. Nevertheless, despite this minor drawback, I still thoroughly enjoyed the whole journey/series. It was an entertaining and engaging read that I would recommend to others who are fans of the isekai genre.

(Written on my Blog - February 15, 2007)

I just completed volume 14, which is the final volume. I experienced a tinge of melancholy afterwards, similar to the feeling you have after a long vacation. There's a sense of sadness that it's over, yet also gladness that I embarked on this journey and happiness in having a conclusion. After a long 12-year writing period, the series has come to an end. The author/illustrator mentions this in one of her numerous sidebars. She states that people were constantly writing or emailing her, eager to know when the next installment would be released, and she felt terrible that she couldn't write them sooner. When you consider it, there were 14 volumes over 12 years, which is less than one per year! You wouldn't think much of that if it were a novelist, and she has to illustrate everything as well! Still, I'm glad that I only had to wait a short while because: 1) I hadn't heard of this series until about a year ago and 2) I'm not Japanese, so I only have to wait for the time it takes for the English translation to come out.

The end of the book gets a bit strange with a lot of talk about light and dark, but it's still very sweet, aside from the people who are killed or have "evil bits" (my term, not theirs) oozing out of them. It ended very neatly, with every character being accounted for.

Read it!

I have a deep affection for the ending of this series.

It is truly and incredibly heart warming.

The way the story concludes brings a sense of joy and contentment that is hard to put into words.

It ties up all the loose ends beautifully, leaving the reader with a feeling of satisfaction.

The characters' arcs are completed in a way that makes their growth and development feel real and meaningful.

The final scenes are filled with emotions that tug at the heartstrings, making it impossible not to be moved.

Overall, the ending of this series is one of its greatest strengths, and it has left a lasting impression on me.

I will always remember it fondly and recommend this series to others because of its wonderful conclusion.

It's only fitting that a finale be given the full star treatment.

It had it all: action, political/magical intrigue, romance, you name it.

Is the series perfect? Personally, no. I'm a bit greedy when it comes to wrap up.

I would've liked to see a wedding, a full-on HEA (Happily Ever After) between Izark and Noriko. But in the end, that's not what her HEA is about.

From the beginning, we watch Noriko struggle to find her place in a "new" world. From fighting beside Izark to dealing with the "mundane" language barrier.

It was satisfying to see The Sky Demon and The Awakening team up, instead of bringing on destruction. And cheesy as it sounds, learning how to control the darkness rather than letting it control you.

Story-wise, the early volumes had an advantage over the latter. The romantic tension and world building made for superb storytelling. While the post-declaration volumes suffered from middle book syndrome, with repeating plots and interchangeable villains/settings. But by the end, I'd say it was well worth the read.

This "lost in time" trope was made fresh for me. (Odd, seeing as this was first published in 1992, way before this became a mainstream craze.)

Yes, there's romance, but the everyday/slice of life elements are grounded in reality. Noriko has trouble speaking the language and feels unworthy beside who she believes to be real heroes, when she was simply transplanted in this realm by sheer dumb luck.

Her appearance brings out a goodness and humanity in Izark (A la Beauty and the Beast), allowing him to feel love and acceptance not in spite of his "monstrosity" but because of it. (They're drawn to each other, despite the prophecy proclaiming their demise upon meeting.)

Whew! This was a ramble, but those of you who stumble upon me know how it goes. Now the reading hangover sets in... Suggestions for my next foray into manga are always welcome. Enjoy your time with From Far Away!
