(Written on my Blog - February 15, 2007)

I just completed volume 14, which is the final volume. I felt a tinge of melancholy afterwards, similar to the feeling you have after a long vacation. There is sadness in seeing it end, yet gladness that I experienced it and happiness to have a conclusion. After 12 long years of writing, this series has come to an end. The author/illustrator mentions this in one of her numerous sidebars. She states that people were constantly writing or emailing her, eager to know when the next installment would be released, and she felt terrible that she couldn't write them sooner. When you consider it, there were 14 volumes over 12 years. That's less than one per year! You wouldn't think much of that if it were a novelist, but she also has to illustrate everything! Nevertheless, I'm glad that I only had to wait a short while because: 1) I hadn't heard of this series until about a year ago and 2) I'm not Japanese, so I only have to wait for the time it takes for the English translation to come out.

The ending of the book gets a bit strange with a lot of talk about light and dark, but it's still very sweet, aside from the people who are killed or have "evil bits" (my term, not theirs) oozing out of them. It ended very neatly, with every character being accounted for.

Read it!

The people of Ennamarina firmly refused to hand Noriko over to evil and unwaveringly believed in the light. Two brave individuals attacked the sand creature impersonating Gorya, and in reality, it was killed. This act made the moonstones strong enough to repel the remaining sand monsters.

Angry, Rachef used the moonstones to enhance the power and hideousness of the monsters. Keimos continued to transform and attack Izark. Izark ultimately defeated Keimos but not before sustaining a major injury himself. The shield came down, and Keimos, still alive, reverted to being an ordinary man. Unhappy with his defeat, he began reabsorbing the evil energies.

Everyone returned to the city and sealed all the doors and windows. Noriko was moved to another room and felt helpless. Gaya gave her some words of advice, which she contemplated. Eventually, she realized the truth, released her power, glowed, and reinforced the moonstones, sending the sane monsters far away from the city.

As soon as Keimos regained his fighting form, he attacked Izark. However, he soon began transforming in the wrong way, having absorbed too much power too quickly and now losing control. Izark gave him a mercy death before collapsing slightly due to lack of strength. Evil spirits shot out of the dome towards Izark, but Noriko arrived first, making Izark glow and disintegrating the evil spirits.

Noriko had opened the doors to the world of light for him, revealing the truth. Physically, she stood on the walls of Ennamarina, looking out at all the sand monsters. With Izark, she destroyed them all before going into a praying position and joining him in his battle against the source of all evil. Gaya, Zaena, Barago, and the mayor witnessed Noriko's act. Zena stopped Gaya from interfering as she could see Noriko's state of mind and the upcoming battle.

Meanwhile, Rachef was shocked by his defeat and feared Izark would shatter all his dreams. Izark had no choice but to destroy all the moonstones in the cavern, eliminating the source of all evil's power. With Noriko, he destroyed it all and showed Rachef the world of light before dying, as his soul was connected to the moonstones.

Izark returned to Donya, and Noriko returned to her body. Then, everyone went to welcome Izark back. Now that the evil was gone and the sky demon had chosen the path of light over destruction, people worldwide were inspired to rise up against evil and corruption. Jeida and the others had their work cut out for them upon returning to their countries.

Noriko told Gaya how the world of light was connected to her homeworld and how she missed her family. Izark overheard this and worried she would leave him once she knew he could send her back, but it was a one-way trip. Nevertheless, he told her the truth, and her reaction was unexpected. Noriko refused to leave him, wanting to stay with him forever.

So, Izark and Noriko returned to the town that held the flower festival to retrieve Noriko's diaries, so Izark could send them to her family. All of Noriko's family was shocked to hear from her via their dreams and rushed to her room, only to find books on her desk. Reading them, they soon learned what they were. Noriko's father, a writer, wrote her story into a novel for everyone in her world to read.

Epilogue: Lord Nada had turned her fighters/guards into thieves, but after some words from Barago, they turned against him. Now, there was no chance for Lord Nada to become the next king, and since Duke Kemil supported him, his position was in jeopardy. Opposing fractions voted for Paroy as the next king, but Kemil was dead against it as he had always claimed Jeida was innocent. To prevent this, he planned to have Paroy assassinated. However, his schemes were detected by Geena, and the information was secretly passed to Paroy. His aides investigated and arrested the assassin before he could act. They also found the link to Duke Kemil, resulting in Kemil's ouster.

The king was ashamed for allowing Kemil so much power and decided to step down, allowing Paroy to take his place as king. Paroy soon welcomed Grand Duke Jeida back and exonerated him from the charge of attempting a coup. This brought a new beginning for Zago.

Izark and Noriko's next stop was Guzena. Barago, Agol, and Geena decided to join them, and Geena had grown taller. Guzena was in chaos; the king was under house arrest for objecting to the ministers' plans. So, Zena told the king what to do. Publicly, the king ordered a cabinet resignation en masse, and once they all stepped down, the king's former and trusted aides were reinstated, along with Enri and Kainowa as ministers.

The mayor of Ennamarina updated Doros, who was working in the stables, on the situation in Guzena. One day, Noriko curiously asked Anita and Rottenina what happened to Tazasheena. She had lost her powers as her divinity was based on evil. Izark and Noriko returned to the sea of trees, a year since their last visit, to send her diaries to her family and a message from her.

Solid ending, it is predictable and felt too easy if you know what I mean. However, it was still very entertaining and I love it. The characters of Noriko and Izark are truly adored by me. I have a deep affection for this series. It is certain that I will read it again next year.

The predictability of the ending might seem like a drawback to some, but for me, it didn't overshadow the overall enjoyment. The story had its own charm and the development of the characters was engaging. Noriko and Izark's relationship was one of the highlights, and their interactions added depth to the narrative.

Despite the predictability, the entertainment value was high. The author managed to create a world that was both captivating and immersive. The plot had its twists and turns, and although I could anticipate the ending to some extent, it didn't take away from the excitement of reading.

I am truly in love with this series, and I can't wait to revisit it next year. It has become one of my favorite reads, and I know that each time I pick it up, I will be transported back into the wonderful world that the author has created.

The ending was extremely cheesy and sort of had a hive mind-y quality to it.

It felt as if the storyteller was trying too hard to create a sense of unity or a common denominator among the characters or the events.

Instead of coming across as natural or organic, it came off as forced and rather unconvincing.

It was a bit of a letdown after what had been an otherwise engaging and interesting narrative.

The cheesiness of the ending detracted from the overall impact of the story and left a somewhat sour taste in the reader's mouth.

It made one wonder if the author had run out of ideas or simply didn't know how to bring the story to a more satisfying conclusion.

Overall, while the beginning and middle of the article had their merits, the ending was a disappointment and could have been much better thought out and executed.

I'm just adding the last volume in the series to my Goodreads. Since, well, it will clutter up my list otherwise.

I truly consider the entire series as one unified story, almost like one single book.

I have a certain liking for Kanata Kara. However, it felt as if there was something lacking. It didn't have the same weight as some of the other manga I've read recently. Nor did it take me on a wild rollercoaster of emotions like Basara did.

I suppose after reading Basara and Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori, my expectations for manga that aim to be high on adventure, fantasy, and such have skyrocketed. But even though Kanata Kara didn't quite hit the mark perfectly, it was very close to the bullseye. This story was rather light-hearted and perhaps a bit too simple. It had the potential to be so much more.

Overall, while it may not have been everything I was hoping for, it still had its charm and I'm glad I gave it a try.

Ayyyy pero que besho final!

It was very pink in color, quite predictable and a bit abrupt, but still very lovely.

The very final part excited me a little bit and I love it when they have *that kind of ending*.

In general, I really liked the art of the manga and it's a style that I always feel comfortable with.

I'm going to look for more works by the same mangaka or from the same years

I just couldn't bring myself to write a review per volume while I was reading a manga. Instead, I usually breeze through the entire series before penning an overall review. This manga is quite a thrilling ride. It's chock-full of action-packed scenes, enchanting magical elements, and the plot just keeps barreling forward without any letup. The mangaka employs the 'chosen one' trope that was extremely popular back in the day.

Even though the main protagonist is endearing enough, I do wish that she could be more self-reliant at times. She leans far too much on that particular guy. The guy, on the other hand, is cute and undeniably romantic, yet he borders on being almost too obsessive towards the girl. I mean, come on, enough with the cheesiness and corniness, especially in the ending. The girl actually choosing the guy over her own family? Seriously, that's just not believable.

I think this is an entertaining series, but I'm not a huge fan of the core essence of the relationship. Don't get me wrong, I do ship them to an extent, but it's not the kind of healthy relationship that I had been anticipating. The art style, though, is truly classic! Overall, I'd give it 3 stars.

Vol. 14 brings the series to a satisfying conclusion.

However, once more, it proves to be a challenge to differentiate between the minor characters. Their designs are strikingly similar, making it quite confusing.

In certain scenes, I found that even Izark could be easily mistaken for Rachef or Keimos.

This lack of distinctiveness among the minor characters somewhat detracts from the overall experience.

It would have been beneficial if the artists had put more effort into creating unique and recognizable designs for each character.

Despite this drawback, the volume still manages to wrap up the storylines effectively and provide a sense of closure.

The main characters' arcs are well-developed, and the final battles are exciting and engaging.

Overall, while the similarity in character designs is a disappointment, Vol. 14 still has its merits and is a worthy conclusion to the series.

This article is quite good as it is, but let's expand it a bit. The original text likely had some key points that we can now elaborate on. For example, if it was about a product, we could describe its features in more detail. Maybe it had a unique design or advanced functionality that sets it apart from others. We could also talk about the benefits that users can expect to gain from using it. How does it make their lives easier or more enjoyable? Additionally, we could mention any positive reviews or feedback that the product has received from other users. This would add credibility and make the article more persuasive. By expanding the article in this way, we can provide more value to the reader and give them a more comprehensive understanding of the topic.

From the very beginning, this manga has piqued my interest. I have a penchant for reading historical fiction like this one.

I wouldn't compare it with The Queen's Knight and Anatolia Story. In those, both heroines hailed from the future and made significant contributions to the new worlds they found themselves in. Each of these works has its own unique charm and way of reaching the readers' hearts.

Of course, this manga also has a plethora of feels and drama. I really like how the female lead overcomes the situation by adapting and striving to learn about the culture in order to survive. So far, I think she is a strong character and a great example of being positive and brave.

As for the male lead, I feel sorry for him. I've always read about his difficult times, but I'm glad to see how he copes as the story progresses.

Regarding the romance, it is light and fluffy, which is quite refreshing. I just wish there was more of an epilogue to elaborate on the two main leads and their future together.
