What truly disappointed me is that the middle of the story was almost good as Malcolm and Ann began to form a genuine connection. Regrettably, just as I became invested, Heller resorted to such predictable clichés that I was completely disengaged from the story. It wasn't as if you couldn't anticipate it. I mean, why else would Ann write that idiotic story even as she's falling for Malcolm? And then write an email to her former boss and leave it in her drafts folder while she ponders whether she should betray Malcolm after all. That was foolish enough on its own. But then having her be so idiotic as to disclose it to the sleazy Richard, including that it was all set to go, and leave her laptop unattended and within his reach for 10 minutes was a new low for the character and a new level of pathetic for the author to stoop to just to create a dark moment! And one that I don't think Malcolm would ever forgive her for. So the manipulation will clearly continue because they have to end up together, despite how foolish the author makes everyone along the way.

In conclusion, I'm stating that Heller exhausts an entire arsenal of contrived plot stupidity in this one book. I'm so appalled that I'm not even going to award a second star for the middle bits that were almost a decent story and which I was enjoying. That sudden shift from almost-decent to stupidly contrived was just too excruciating.

Yes, this plot may not be that hard to figure out. However, it is truly a great deal of fun.

Moreover, it is an easy read that simply flows effortlessly. So, if you are in search of something profound and thought-provoking, this is not the right choice for you.

Nevertheless, if you are looking for a light-hearted and enjoyable treat, then this is definitely it.
