I wish I could say "interesting concept, poorly executed," but unfortunately, the end was so disappointingly anticlimactic that I can't even give it the credit of having an interesting concept.

Michael was clearly an asshole who was leading Kristin on. Kristin, on the other hand, was an idiot in every sense of the word. The book was written in a very simplistic manner, constantly stating the obvious. There were some really cheap attempts at creating suspense, like the 2-page long "chapters" that ended with a cheesy, over-the-top "cliffhanger" that was easily explained in the very next sentence.

Oh, and the cockroaches! What the hell was that about? For a moment, I thought maybe the book was going to be explained by Kristin having some mental disorder. There is actually a disease that makes people think there are bugs in their skin and causes them to scratch their skin open. But no, it was just another failed attempt to make the book scary.

Then she goes to see her psychiatrist. What kind of psychiatrist gets angry at a patient for discontinuing therapy? He literally yelled at her and cursed her out. This man should definitely be fired. And then nothing came of the visit. She didn't like the man in the first place, so she should just find a new psychiatrist.

And what was the point of mentioning that she was molested by her doctor as a child? It had nothing to do with the story. Plus, I'm no psychologist, but I think that would make her hate powerful men who take advantage of young women. And Michael is a powerful man who took advantage of her, a woman 16 years his junior. She didn't even have "daddy issues" to explain why she was so attached to him.

Also, men should really not write romance scenes from a woman's perspective. Ugh. And why do the 2 kids act like Penley is their mother when she's not? What happened to their actual mother? That should be a huge red flag for Kristin to stay away from their asshole father, Michael. Another big red flag that he's not going to leave Penley is that her father is the reason Michael is so successful. Hello! He's not going to leave his wife for some young woman who doesn't even have a real job.

Then it turns out Penley was also having an affair, and Kristin judges her for it. But of course, Michael is a perfect angel who is only cheating because Penley is a bitch and Kristin is so much better than her. I don't understand the psychology behind people cheating or murdering, but Michael could have handled the situation much better. He could have actually divorced Penley like he said he would and moved on with his life. That way, he might have been able to keep up his status with her father since the divorce would have been Penley's fault.

I also don't get the point of mentioning that Kristin gave birth to a baby 3 years ago at the hotel and let it die there. Was that just to make her seem even worse? If she loves kids so much, why did she let her baby die? Is she just using her love for kids as a coping mechanism now? Am I missing something here? And is she dead at the end or not? Why did she wink from the body bag? I thought the whole reason she was seeing dead people was because she was dead in hell, reliving her last few days or seconds over and over again.

The only reason I read this book was because a coworker gave it to me and kept asking if I'd read it yet. I never really wanted to read James Patterson's books before this, and I can't say I'll ever willingly pick up another book with his name on it again. There are some of his books on my "might read" list, but I think it's safe to say they will stay there forever unless I'm really desperate and have a moment of bad judgment. Maybe I just don't like beach reads, I don't know, but I guess I'm in the minority.

This book was truly extremely odd.

In the first half, it had me absolutely hooked. The plot was engaging, and I couldn't wait to turn the pages to see what would happen next.

However, as the story progressed, I just became extremely confused. The events seemed to unfold in a rather disjointed manner, and I struggled to make sense of it all.

Despite my confusion, the ending was interesting though. It had a certain twist that made me think twice about the entire story.

Overall, this book was a bit of a mixed bag. While the first half was great, the second half left me scratching my head. Nevertheless, I'm still glad I read it as it provided an interesting reading experience.

This was a bit too strange for me.

It felt rather unusual and out of the ordinary. I couldn't quite put my finger on why, but there was something about the situation that made me raise an eyebrow.

Even though I managed to read it in a day, it still left me with a sense of confusion.

Maybe it was the content itself, or perhaps the way it was presented.

I found myself constantly re-reading certain parts, trying to make sense of it all.

But despite my efforts, the strangeness persisted.

It was one of those things that you just have to experience to fully understand, and even then, it might still elude you.

Nevertheless, I'm glad I took the time to read it, as it has given me something to think about.

Who knows, maybe with further reflection, I'll be able to解开 the mystery behind this strange occurrence.

It’s a book about the after-life. And it’s super confusing. That’s basically it.

I have no idea what the heck I just read. Like seriously what was that? It seems as if the author was trying to convey some profound ideas about the afterlife, but it all just came across as a jumbled mess.

It was easy to read, which is a con. But I genuinely have no idea what the plot was or what the purpose of this book is. There were so many random events and characters that didn’t seem to have any connection or significance.

I thought I was gonna enjoy this, and I kinda did. Honestly I’m just ✨confuzzled✨. I’m not sure if I’m missing something or if the book is just that bad.

I don’t know if I should put this on my trash shelf on Goodreads or not? Yes? No? Maybe so? I guess I’ll have to think about it some more. But for now, I’m just left feeling frustrated and disappointed.

You've been Warned (James Patterson)

This is a psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Kristin Burns, a struggling photographer and nanny to a wealthy Manhattan family, finds herself in the midst of a forbidden and dangerous love. Her fears consume her every moment, haunting her and threatening to break her.

When she passes the Falcon Hotel, her life takes a drastic turn. The man with the ponytail appears, and his connection to her remains a mystery. Why does he show up anytime and anywhere? As Kristin struggles to maintain her sanity, demons from her past begin to surface, blurring the line between reality and insanity.

This fast-paced, page-turning novel is a suspenseful all-night read. Patterson's masterful storytelling will keep you guessing until the very end. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers, you won't want to miss this one.

The main character didn't address me, to put it mildly. Flat characters, one-dimensional, full of clichés. Written in a very formulaic style: short chapters with mini-cliffhangers in the last sentence. Patterson sketches the main outlines and the co-authors are allowed to fill in the blanks. It's also a way to become a prolific writer and educate students. For me, the end result of that left a lot to be desired.

I'm now done with Patterson & Co, whoever the Co may be. This kind of writing seems to lack true depth and originality. The flat characters fail to engage me on an emotional level, and the formulaic approach becomes tiresome after a while. While it may be a method for mass production and teaching purposes, it doesn't satisfy my literary cravings. I'm hoping to find something more substantial and unique in my future reading adventures.

Perhaps I'll explore other authors who can offer a more nuanced and captivating storytelling experience. I believe that good literature should have the power to transport readers to different worlds, make them feel a wide range of emotions, and leave a lasting impression. Patterson & Co just didn't cut it for me this time.

It started out really interesting.

However, after a while, it just became annoying and seemed to drag on and on for far too long, if you ask me. This is the second book by the author James Patterson that I have read, and to be honest, I'm not sure if I want to read another one of his books!

In the midst of it all, there was an affair. Behold, both the married couple were having one! And in the end, the wife kills the husband for killing her lover!!!

I'm not a big fan of a storyline that goes on forever and repeats the same thing over and over again. In my opinion, this book was written poorly. I found myself getting extremely annoyed with the ongoing and overly dragging plot.

It seems that the author could have done a better job of editing and pacing the story to keep the reader engaged throughout.

Overall, I was quite disappointed with this book and would not recommend it to others who are looking for a well-written and engaging read.

After reading this book, it truly makes you deeply realize a profound question - if you were given the opportunity, would you have the courage and determination to right the wrongs you committed in the past?

Would you take the initiative to face those mistakes and make amends, or would you simply choose to live life as you did before, perhaps hoping for some kind of forgiveness or redemption by sending up a "Hail Mary" for your sins?

This book presents a thought-provoking scenario that forces the reader to reflect on their own actions and choices. It makes you question what you would do in a similar situation.

Overall, it is a great read that engages the mind and touches the heart. I absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a book that offers both entertainment and a deeper exploration of the human psyche.

I came across this book due to a podcast that discussed bad books. In truth, it is indeed a bad book, yet I find myself in a quandary when it comes to rating it.

For instance, there are these continuous and baffling references to the main character's attractive winking (??????????). It's quite absurd and makes me laugh. But the question is, how on earth do I translate this strange aspect into a star rating?

Do I give it a low rating because of its overall badness, or do I take into account the fact that it managed to elicit a reaction from me, even if it was a bemused laugh?

I'm really not sure. Maybe I should just go with my gut feeling and rate it based on how it made me feel throughout the reading experience.

But then again, that might not be a very objective way of rating a book. Oh well, I guess I'll have to think about it some more before coming up with a final rating.

This is the worst book he has ever written.

It fails to engage the reader from the very beginning. The plot is convoluted and makes little sense, leaving the reader confused and frustrated.

The characters are one-dimensional and lack any real depth or development. There is no emotional connection to be made with them, making it difficult to care about what happens to them.

The writing style is also very poor. The sentences are short and choppy, and the language is simplistic and uninteresting.

In conclusion, I would not recommend this book to anyone. It is a waste of time and money. Don't bother reading it unless you have absolutely nothing else to do. I was extremely disappointed with this book and expected much better from this author.
