Kristin's major problem is a complex one.

Besides being involved with a gentleman, as Patterson and Roughan subtly hint, who shows no sign of making any changes on the home front in the near future, her life appears to be falling apart.

Some of her pictures have developed an unusual transparency, which is rather disturbing. She is also having bizarre nightmares that cause her to scream, even when she is awake.

To make matters worse, she witnesses an odd crime scene at a hotel that seemingly never took place.

Strangers are approaching her on the street, warning her away from Michael.

As the story progresses, things become even weirder and, in a sense, more dangerous.

Then, just before the book reaches its conclusion, the situation takes a turn for the really bad.

It seems that Kristin is in for a wild ride, and it remains to be seen how she will manage to untangle herself from this web of mystery and danger.

Well, that was truly a strange one!

I had no idea what was in store when I randomly picked up a James Patterson book off the shelf. Mind you, it is one with a co-author, and such collaborations can sometimes lead to unusual results.

You've Been Warned is definitely a Patterson-esque book. It features short, snappy chapters, plenty of action, and a fast pace. However, it differs in that the main character has the ability to see dead people who come to warn her of a very unfortunate future unless she makes significant changes in her life. She also experiences premonitions but, unfortunately, doesn't recognize them for what they are until it's a bit too late! All of this makes the book much more reminiscent of something written by Stephen King or Dean Koontz. Fortunately, I like both of those authors and enjoy a touch of spookiness in my mysteries, so I was quite at ease.

The story was indeed mysterious, to the point of being almost completely unintelligible at times. When this occurs to me, I don't stop and try to understand. Instead, I simply go with the flow and wait for events to clarify things. That was the best approach with this book, as nothing became clear until the very end, and even then, the reader was left to do a bit of guessing.

So, if you prefer everything to be spelled out clearly, or if you don't enjoy a bit of the supernatural, then don't read this book. Otherwise, give it a go. It can be quite fun.

I selected this book for a reading challenge prompt that was "A book with bad reviews."

To be honest, it really wasn't my cup of tea at all. The story seemed to lack depth and the characters were not very engaging.

However, I have to admit that one good thing about it was that it was a quick listen. I was able to get through it relatively fast, which was a relief considering my initial disappointment.

Despite the bad reviews, I thought it might be interesting to give it a try, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations.

Maybe it's just a matter of personal taste, but for me, this book was definitely not something I would recommend to others.

I'm glad that I was able to complete this reading challenge, but I'm also looking forward to finding a book that I will truly enjoy in the future.

I've been postponing this review for quite some time now, as I'm really not certain about how I feel regarding this book as a whole.

On one hand, I simply couldn't read this book fast enough. I was completely engrossed by the story, by the enigma that surrounded it all. In fact, I managed to read this entire novel within a single beach day. It was that captivating.

However, as much as I relished the first part of this story, I was left profoundly unfulfilled by the ending. I was left with a sense of disappointment, yearning for more, and pondering what exactly I was supposed to gain from this reading experience.

I would classify this style more along the lines of Stephen King rather than James Paterson. And I was taken aback by the turn of events, not in a favorable way. I truly believe that the ending could have been salvaged and made more satisfying. It felt like there was so much potential that wasn't fully realized.

Overall, while the beginning was engaging, the ending left me with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.
