James Patterson has been dubbed "the author who never misses." However, I couldn't disagree more. In "YOU'VE BEEN WARNED," he misses by a significant margin. It fails to reach his usual high standards of plot excellence and definitely doesn't belong in his genre of suspenseful thrillers.

This book is indeed scary, but it delves into the supernatural realm. If I were in the mood to read about ghosts and the like, I would much rather pick up a book by Dean Koontz. It's that time of year when it's all about tricks or treats, and this book is one huge trick that offers absolutely no treat for the reader. Boo, Mr. Patterson!

Furthermore, I expect Mr. Patterson to select co-authors whose style aligns with his as the primary author. What's going on here? Do these co-authors pay him a hefty sum to use his name and gain publicity? I'm well aware that he's a prolific writer, but why choose co-authors who do such a disservice to him and his reputation? Readers, you've been warned!

This was, without a doubt, the worst book I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. I have a deep affection for crime mysteries, and I'm usually quite lenient when it comes to less-than-stellar writing, as they are a guilty pleasure of mine. However, this particular book takes the cake. It seems to have used every single cliché one can possibly imagine. What made matters even worse was that I listened to it as an audio book. The narrator's horrific reading voice added an extra layer of awfulness to the already bad experience. The combination of the terrible writing and the completely implausible "magic" aspect of this story truly made it the absolute worst I have ever come across.

I can't stress enough how much I would not recommend this book to anyone. It's a waste of time and a disappointment to anyone who enjoys a good crime mystery. There are so many other excellent books out there in this genre that it's simply not worth bothering with this one.

I hope that in the future, authors will strive to be more original and creative in their writing, and narrators will work on improving their delivery to enhance the listening experience. Until then, I'll be on the lookout for better books to satisfy my love of crime mysteries.

95% of this book was truly outstanding, which is why I awarded it 4 stars. The story had many engaging aspects that held my attention throughout. The characters were well-developed and the plot was full of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. However, the ending was just so-so. It felt a bit rushed and there were a lot of unanswered questions. I was left wondering about certain events and the fates of some of the characters. Despite this, it was still a great book. It was a very quick read, which was perfect for my busy schedule. I would highly recommend this book to others, especially those who enjoy a good mystery or thriller.

"You've been warned" is an exciting thriller penned by James Patterson and Howard Roughan.

The protagonist, Kristen, a photographer, has a disturbing dream where she arrives at a shooting location only to see four bodies being wheeled out. Surprisingly, the very next day on her way to work, she witnesses the exact same scene unfold before her eyes.

As the story progresses, this strange event keeps being replayed, but with additional elements added each time, making it even more mysterious and puzzling.

However, I must admit that I found the story rather confusing and weird. Just like the characters in the book, I struggled to make sense of what was happening.

To be honest, I didn't really enjoy anything about this book. It simply wasn't my style. I prefer stories that are more straightforward and easier to follow.

Perhaps others might find this thriller captivating and thrilling, but for me, it just didn't hit the mark.

Minor Spoilers:

I'm well aware that when people see my three-star rating, they'll likely think, "What on earth was he thinking?! This book was terrible!" Oh well. :)

This book tells the story of Kristen Burns, an aspiring photographer who is actually a nanny having an affair with the children's father. What begins as a seemingly ordinary situation quickly spirals into a convoluted tale. Kristen has macabre dreams and meets people who should be long dead. In fact, it's nothing like what the dust jacket implies.

Personally, I really enjoyed this book (except for the ending, which I'll discuss later). It had a bit of a Twilight Zone feel to it. Almost every chapter held something new and exciting, making me eager to read on. The protagonist meeting her dead father, being stalked by the Ponytail man (does he even have a name?), losing track of her days, and being lured back to the Falcon was both compelling and thrilling. However, this all changed when I reached the end.

None of the interesting events that happened to poor Kristen were ever properly explained. As another reviewer put it, it was too ambivalent, and not in a good way. For instance, at the start, Kristen's neighbor complains about the noise, and then she discovers there's no hot water. Later in the novel, many days have passed, and the neighbor claims to have yelled at her that morning, while Kristen receives an apology letter for the lack of hot water. It was never explained why she was losing track of her days or how many days had actually passed. Why her dead father kept appearing, why Kristen had her baby at the Falcon (which seemed randomly inserted), and why people kept calling her Satan were also left unexplained. It was as if the authors added a bunch of interesting elements to make the book exciting, but the crucial part of explaining it all got lost.

All in all, it's a good, fast read that will keep you engaged for the first 350 pages, but in the last few, it will leave you wondering, "Are you joking?"

Blech. Worst. Patterson. Book. Eva.

This is a rather harsh and concise review. It seems that the person writing this really did not like the Patterson book that Eva is involved with.

Maybe the story was uninteresting, the characters not well-developed, or the writing style just didn't appeal to them.

Without more details, it's hard to know exactly what was wrong with the book.

However, the writer has clearly made their opinion known and is warning others not to waste their time on it.

It's always important to read reviews before choosing a book, as they can give you an idea of what to expect.

But everyone has different tastes, so what one person hates, another might love.

Maybe Eva's book is actually quite good and this review is just an outlier.

Only by reading it for yourself can you decide.

A Decent Plot Let Down by Its Authors' Failings as Writers!

Kristin Burns, a budding photographer aiming for the big time in New York, has to work as a nanny for a shallow couple from the moneyed glitterati set. Michael Turnbull is an investment guru dealing in hedging commodities, and his wife, Penley, is obsessed with counting calories and working them off at the gym.

The story starts simply with Kristin and Michael having a passionate love affair. But then Kristin's life spirals out of control. She witnesses a dead body seemingly come back to life, has recurring nightmares, hears unidentifiable music playing repeatedly out of nowhere, and even has a conversation with her long-dead father.

The plot idea of YOU'VE BEEN WARNED isn't half bad. It could have been a good first draft for a Twilight Zone screenplay or a short morality play. However, the writing is so糟糕 that it's laughable, especially considering it's from an experienced author like James Patterson. The characters are shallow and one-dimensional, the dialogue is stilted and repetitive, and the paranormal events are piled on so thickly that they become irritating and are never properly explained or tied to the ending moral.

The only redeeming qualities are the potential of the plot and the marginally acceptable ending, which manage to pull this turkey up to 2 stars. I suspect Patterson never intended the irony that the title serves as its own review: \\n  \\"YOU'VE BEEN WARNED\\"\\n! Paul Weiss

The most ridiculous story I've ever come across is truly a disappointment. I detested this book to such an extent that I've completely ceased reading the works of James Patterson, whom I formerly held in high regard.

It's astonishing how a single book could have such a profound impact on my perception of an author. I used to look forward to Patterson's novels, anticipating the engaging plots and well-developed characters. However, this particular story failed on multiple levels. The plot was convoluted and made little sense, with numerous plot holes that left me scratching my head.

The characters were one-dimensional and lacked any real depth or complexity. I found it difficult to connect with them or care about their fates. Additionally, the writing style seemed rushed and amateurish, as if the author had not taken the time to polish and refine his work.

As a result of this experience, I've lost faith in Patterson's ability to deliver quality literature. It's a shame, really, as I had high hopes for his future works. But based on this one encounter, I'm reluctant to give him another chance.

I'm truly pleased to discover that I'm not the sole individual who deems this work to be completely ridiculous and poorly written.

Thanks to the typically short chapters, I managed to persevere until the end. However, by that point, I was merely reading it with the intention of identifying the numerous flaws within it and the rather annoying usage of the first person.

I'm glad that I endured until the conclusion, only to encounter a truly absurd ending! Oh my goodness!! It wasn't exactly shocking, but it was indeed a shocker!!

I haven't delved into a Patterson novel for some time. But during lockdown, when I couldn't access the library and was given this book, I thought I'd give it a try.

Alas, I had forgotten just how irritating his writing style can be. Although I'm inclined to believe that his other works weren't nearly as abysmal as this one!

Nonetheless, it serves as a reminder that not every book is a literary masterpiece, and sometimes, we have to endure the not-so-great ones to truly appreciate the gems.

Perhaps this experience will make me more discerning in my future reading choices.

This particular story was a bit of a departure from the norm.

With all the time slips that occurred throughout, it really made you question who and what was genuine within the entire narrative.

The ending, while unusual, wasn't entirely unexpected.

For me, it was just an okay read. There were a lot of characters that I didn't particularly like, which somewhat detracted from the overall experience.

However, it was a relatively quick read, which was a plus.

All in all, I would rate this story a 3.5 stars.

It had its moments of intrigue and mystery, but also had its flaws.

Nonetheless, it was an interesting enough read that kept me engaged until the very end.

I've never done this before, and my brain is still trying to process the fact that I've now rated two versions of the same book. But if anyone comes across this review, and doesn't know what the hell I'm talking about, the first part can be found here:

What the Hell Happened Here? (CONTINUED... )

The way Kristen's "history" with the hotel was constantly teased but never fully revealed until it was almost too late was extremely frustrating. It felt like Patterson was just stringing the reader along for no good reason.

The supposed "convenient" meetings between Kristen and her fuckboy at Starbucks were also rather contrived. And the way Michael insulted the wannabe screenwriters seemed more like Patterson was trying to show off than anything else.

The final twist, that Kristen is dead, was so poorly executed that it completely undermined the entire story. How could she visit her friend's house or the psychiatrist if she was dead? The idea of her being stuck in some purgatorial imitation of life was ripped off from other works and added nothing new to the story.

descriptiondescription

While I understand that Patterson has a large following, I simply cannot recommend this book. It was poorly written, had a predictable plot, and the characters were unlikable and one-dimensional.

I've put more effort into this review than the book probably deserves, but I felt it was important to share my thoughts. I hope that others will think twice before picking up a Patterson book, especially this one.

I find their smell weirdly nostalgic. But then I said the same thing about shoe-polish. And look what that did to me.

description

Anyway, Patterson's reputation may be more renowned than that of some other authors, but that doesn't excuse the carelessness that went into this book. I'm not saying that all of his books are bad, but this one was definitely a disappointment.

If you're looking for a good thriller, I would suggest looking elsewhere. There are plenty of other authors out there who can write a much better story than this.

descriptiondescription

So, in conclusion, I would not recommend "You've Been Warned" to anyone. It was a waste of my time and money, and I'm sure there are better things you could be doing with your life than reading this book.

YOU'VE BEEN WARNED (Pub. 2007) by James Patterson and Howard Roughan was an outstanding read. It had me completely engrossed, sitting on the edge of my seat and flipping the pages at an astonishing pace. In fact, I was so hooked that I finished the entire book in just one day.

What I found most captivating about this story was its breakneck speed and the intense thriller factor that kept me on the verge of my seat throughout. Additionally, the touch of the paranormal introduced through the main character's photography added an extra layer of intrigue.

The story revolves around Kristin Burns, a woman in her mid-20s who is working as a nanny while attempting to establish her photography business. However, her life takes a complicated turn when she succumbs to having an affair with the husband of the couple she works for, leading to a series of troubles.

The story commences with Kristin stumbling upon a crime scene at a hotel. She witnesses the removal of four bodies and promptly snaps pictures of the body bags and the onlookers. Later, she discovers that she must have experienced a 'pre-cognitive' episode, the first of its kind for her. From that moment on, things spiral into a whirlwind of chaos.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the story. If I had to nitpick, there were a couple of actions by two detectives in separate instances that seemed a bit implausible. However, these were minor flaws that did not significantly detract from the overall enjoyment of the story. In fact, some readers might not even notice these slight irregularities.

I was particularly impressed with the way the story was written. It was presented in a close first-person perspective, filled with attitude and a refreshingly unique voice.

If you're in search of a great read that combines elements of the 'spooky' and a hint of a murder-mystery, then this book is an excellent choice.
