The last line of the book truly brought tears welling up in my eyes. It is such a delightfully sweet book, filled with tenderness and warmth.

Yet, at the same time, it is also an incredibly hard book to read. If you or anyone dear to you has endured abuse as a child, this book will strike a very raw and painful chord. In all honesty, it will likely have a profound impact even if you don't know anyone who has experienced such trauma.

It is a book that delves into the very essence of dreams and nightmares, of hope and love, of grief and hurt. It speaks of butterflies, seashells, a dog biscuit, a photo, a cup - all those little objects that are intertwined with our memories and the fabric of our lives.

Dreams are indeed a beautiful mystery, and this book has the power to encourage the act of dreaming, wondering, and hoping. It makes us reflect on the complexity of our emotions and the significance of the simplest of things.

It is a truly touching story that delves into the healing power of dreams and the fascinating imaginary creatures that inhabit them. The narrative is simple, straightforward, and sincere, making it a pleasure to read.

As always, Lois Lowry has crafted a literary gem. Her ability to create a world that is both magical and relatable is truly remarkable. The characters in "Gossamer" are well-developed and endearing, and the story will stay with you long after you have turned the final page.

If you are looking for a book that will touch your heart and leave you with a sense of wonder, then "Gossamer" is definitely worth a read. It is a beautiful and poignant tale that will appeal to readers of all ages.

I don't even know what to say.

It was truly lovely and exquisitely beautiful. The whole experience was so whimsical that it made me feel a plethora of emotions.

It vividly reminded me of precious memories, some tinged with sadness, while others filled with beauty and joy.

Thanks, Syd. Your creation has had a profound impact on me and has made me reflect on the many facets of my existence.

I will cherish this experience and the emotions it has evoked for a long time to come.

It is rare to come across something that can touch the heart and soul in such a profound way.

Once again, thank you, Syd.

I have a bit of a conflicting feeling about my rating. I came across this book in a Little Free Library and was immediately attracted by the sparkles on the cover. As a child, I read "Number the Stars" by Lois Lowry and adored it. So, I thought it would be interesting to pick up another one of her works.

This book combines fantasy and reality, incorporating magic and revealing hope in a challenging situation. The world-building is fantastical, yet it never overshadows the gentle and unyielding human spirit depicted on the page.

However, this is also a dark story that made me wonder if it was truly intended for kids or perhaps more for the adults reading it to them. There were moments when I was disturbed, caught up in the caprices of others. Nevertheless, this book is memorable and impactful regardless.

Definitely check out the trigger warnings if possible - this story focuses on child and spouse abuse and can get quite dark. But in the darkness, there is also hope and light. I might come back to this book, or I might pass it on to someone else, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to read it.

This was a truly cute, wispy, and almost therapeutic little story.

It had a charm that could easily capture the hearts of its readers. The details were delicately woven, creating a world that was both enchanting and relatable.

The characters seemed to come alive on the page, their emotions and experiences palpable.

As you delved into the story, you couldn't help but feel a sense of calm and relaxation wash over you.

It was like a gentle breeze on a warm summer's day, refreshing and rejuvenating.

The story's simplicity was its strength, allowing the reader to focus on the essence of the narrative and find meaning within it.

Whether you were looking for a quick escape from reality or a moment of quiet reflection, this little story was the perfect choice.

It left you with a smile on your face and a warm feeling in your heart, reminding you of the beauty and magic that can be found in the simplest of things.

Overall, it was a delightful read that was sure to bring joy and comfort to all who encountered it.

This one was truly a child's book. The print was GINORMOUS (aka gigantically enormous. hugantic? hah). It was in boldface, and the book was only 144 pages. However, I really struggled to finish it. It was as boring as crap. I have an issue swallowing words like 'flutter' and 'shimmer' and 'twirling' when they are used repeatedly. Oh, and the ridiculous names (oldest one, littlest one, fastidious).

Now, let's get back to the book review. There are these little fairy-like creatures (I forgot what they are called) that come into your room at night and touch all your stuff (starting to sound like Robert Goulet in the Emerald Nuts commercial, huh). They gather "good" fragments. Then they hover over your orifices and jangle around until these fragments come out as shimmers, which give you good dreams.

The fairies that touch your stuff too hard? They become Something-steeds. Think of those horse riders in Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings. Yup, they come stampeding in and do something to your face to give you bad dreams.

So, anyway, this old lady and her dog foster this young boy who was abused by his drunkard father until his mother can get custody of him again. The kid stops being a hellion, and the mom gets him back in the end. The Littlest Something fairy saves him from the Something-steeds and is renamed Gossamer, for her gentle touch when touching people's stuff to make dreams. And another fairy is 'born' and named Littlest Something-or-the-other.

But are these fairy things human? No! They exist in your mind in a place called the Heap (the Hive?). Something that starts with an H.

This book reads like a bad acid trip (well, at least what I'd imagine one would look like). I was expecting a lot better from the lady who wrote Number the Stars and The Giver (books that mark the middle schoolers' rite of passage into high school).

I only finished it because I have a pet peeve with checking out a book and not reading it (that and I was NOT about to be bested by a child's book). Some books can be in the YA section and speak to people of all ages. This book, however, was equivalent to the torture of having to sit and watch the PBS KIDS Sprout Network with my little cousins or nephews.

It has become one of my favorites.

I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good read.

Whether you're a fan of adventure, mystery, or just a great story in general, this book has something for everyone.

This novel presented a significant departure from the trilogy of Lowry books that I had just completed reading (The Giver, Gathering Blue, Messenger).

It is a relatively quick read, given that it is targeted at preteens and teenagers. However, I firmly believe that adults can also appreciate the story and Lowry's distinct writing style.

The book endeavors to address questions regarding dreams and their sources, and it employs a remarkable narrative style by seamlessly switching between reality and imagination.

The story revolves around both the real world of an elderly woman attempting to assist an angry, young boy as he grapples with the aftermath of an abusive father, and the imaginary world of the diminutive creatures that collect memories from ordinary objects and return them to humans through their dreams.

I was truly impressed by Lowry's meticulous attention to detail and vivid descriptive imagery, even when she was描绘 the most mundane of objects, such as dishes or teacups.

Although it is a work of pure fiction, Lowry tackles tough and very real issues, particularly the abuse that the little boy endures and how he learns to cope with life in its aftermath.

The book touched me on multiple levels, especially as a mother raising a young child. It was light and enjoyable in some parts and dark and serious in others, culminating in a highly satisfying and encouraging conclusion.

This is most definitely a book that I would recommend to anyone with an interest in dreams and the power of the imagination.

Change means leaving things behind, and that's always sad.

What an enchanting book! I've always been a huge fan of Lowry's imaginative writing. Her works have a unique charm that can transport readers to different worlds. And Gossamer is truly an underrated gem.

This book delves into a magical exposition of the origins of dreams and nightmares. It takes us on a journey through the minds of troubled individuals and shows us how dreams can have a profound impact on who they are. The story is so enthralling, like a beautiful fairy-tale, yet it's not exactly a traditional fairytale.

Lowry's writing is so vivid and descriptive that you can almost see the dreams and nightmares playing out in front of your eyes. She has a way of making the reader feel deeply for the characters and their struggles. Gossamer is a book that will stay with you long after you've finished reading it. It's a must-read for anyone who loves imaginative literature.

The last chapter was truly an arduous one.

It was so intense that perhaps I shed a few tears.

Just maybe.

As I was reading through those final pages, the emotions seemed to well up within me.

The story had reached a climax that tugged at my heartstrings.

I found myself completely immersed in the narrative, unable to hold back the tears that threatened to escape.

Maybe it was the realization that the story was coming to an end, or maybe it was the powerful portrayal of the characters and their experiences.

Whatever the reason, that last chapter left a lasting impact on me.

It made me feel a range of emotions, from sadness to hope, and everything in between.

Even now, as I think back on it, I can still feel the sting of those emotions.

It was a truly unforgettable reading experience.

I absolutely loved this book growing up and nothing has changed.

It was a magical escape for me, transporting me to different worlds and introducing me to a plethora of fascinating characters.

The storylines were always engaging, filled with adventure, mystery, and sometimes even a touch of romance.

I would spend hours lost in its pages, completely oblivious to the world around me.

As I've grown older, I've come to appreciate the book even more.

I realize the depth of the themes it explores and the skill with which the author weaves the narrative.

It's not just a book for children; it has something for everyone.

Whether you're looking for entertainment, inspiration, or simply a good read, this book has it all.

I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a great story.
