How many ways can your psychic be wrong and still end up being right?

It seems like an enigma. There could be countless scenarios where the psychic's initial prediction goes awry, but somehow, through a series of unexpected events, it turns out to be correct in the end.

How many times can Mr. Right do the wrong thing before he has to fess up and tell the truth?

Maybe he makes a few mistakes here and there, thinking he can cover them up. But eventually, the truth has a way of surfacing.

How many times does a girl have to try before everything finally works out?

Jamie Peters is about to find out. She might face numerous disappointments and setbacks, but she persists.

McCarthy makes the ridiculous, believable and the humorous, hilarious. His writing style has the power to draw readers in and make them believe in the most absurd situations.

It's this unique combination of elements that keeps us hooked and eager to see what will happen next in Jamie Peters' journey.

Although it was a decently written book, I found myself completely unvested in the characters, even as I reached the end. There was just something that seemed to be missing. Maybe it was a deeper plot? No matter how hard I tried, I simply didn't feel any connection to either of the main characters (MCs). In fact, I found myself not really caring about how the story ended.

Jack, in particular, was all over the board with his emotions. I felt that the author really didn't have a good handle on how to represent a male protagonist. He was initially represented in one way, but then his whole personality changed, and it wasn't even due to a significant life experience. Miraculously, he lost his callous edge, and this really put me off.

However, I did like the writing style. So, despite my disappointment with this book, I will give the author another chance to win me over before bypassing her future works. I'm hoping that in her next book, she can create more engaging characters and a more compelling plot that will keep me hooked from start to finish.

This was a truly enjoyable, rapid, and charming read. It didn't delve too deeply into profound or dark themes, nor was it overly simplistic. The story was filled with witty banter that served as a delightful distraction or a perfect "in-between" read for those who are passionate about romance.

Jamie Lynn, a girl hailing from Kentucky, possesses a heart of gold. She now resides in Manhattan, sharing a two-bedroom apartment with her girlfriends and working as a social worker. Jack, on the other hand, is a bored former broker who has become a millionaire. He begins trailing Jamie due to a grant her organization has requested, as he has noticed some suspicious activity. Coincidentally, he is also the brother of one of her roommates. This rather contrived setup leads to their meeting, but it's not even the core of the plot, and that's perfectly fine.

Now, enter an angsty teen juvenile delinquent, a cranky old man, a bridezilla, and a stuffy mother of the bride, and mix them all together. Additionally, there is the quirky insertion of the cross-dressing psychic that truly sets things in motion for Jamie and Jack's happily ever after.

The story is highly situational, lighthearted, and sweet. If you read the dust jacket, don't anticipate anything on an epic scale like "Gone with the Wind." Just take it for what it is and enjoy it. And I most certainly did!

This was a really cute story. It was a typical chick lit that had both a sexy and amusing element to it.

What I particularly liked was the portrayal of the leading woman. She wasn't the stereotypical skinny, blue-eyed blonde. Now, don't get me wrong, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that type. But in this case, the leading woman was a well-endowed one.

She was characterized as being a nice, loving, and trusting person. However, she wasn't stupid. In fact, she was a strong woman. She had her own opinions and wasn't afraid to stand up for herself.

The story did a great job of showing that a woman can be both feminine and strong at the same time. It was a refreshing take on the typical chick lit genre.

I would definitely recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a light-hearted, yet engaging read. It's the perfect book to curl up with on a rainy day.

Overall, it was a great story that left me feeling entertained and satisfied.

I got the book simply because it was on my to-be-read (TBR) list. However, as time passed, my tastes have changed significantly since I initially added it to that list.

When I started reading the book, I managed to get through half of it. But as I progressed, I found that it no longer held my interest as it might have before.

Realizing that I wasn't fully engaged with the story, I made the decision to return it to the library. It was a bit of a disappointment, but I knew that there were other books out there that would better suit my current literary preferences.

Perhaps in the future, I might give this book another chance when my tastes have evolved yet again. For now, though, I'm looking forward to exploring new titles and finding those that will truly capture my imagination.

This book was truly awesome!!! It is the second non-paranormal romance book that I've had the pleasure of reading, and it was simply great!!

You have two individuals from completely different walks of life who manage to find each other, and when they do, it's like a powerful explosion of emotions!!!

This book is filled with hilarity. Take Jack, for example. The things that he says or does are just crazy!! And then there's Jaimie. She is so naive that you can't help but want to scream at her and tell her to stop being so stupid!!! The love scenes in this book are amazing and intense. We're talking about entire chapters dedicated to steamy sex!!

The other characters throughout the story are also extremely funny and colorful. One standout is Beckwith the Psychic!! The story progresses beautifully, leading right to the happily ever after that we all love and hope for. It's a truly enjoyable read that I would highly recommend to anyone who loves a good romance with a touch of humor and excitement.

The story was okay, but it felt a little long and dragged at the end.

However, apart from that, the overall story was good.

There were certain aspects that I thought could have been done differently.

For example, the way she talked to her dad at the end was not given enough importance.

This crucial moment could have been developed more fully to add depth and emotion to the story.

Perhaps more details could have been included about their conversation, their expressions, and the impact it had on both of them.

By doing so, the reader would have been able to better understand the significance of their relationship and the resolution of the story.

Overall, with a few adjustments, the story had the potential to be even more engaging and memorable.

Jamie Peters, while out with her roommates one day, makes the error of getting her fortune told.

The psychic foretells that she will encounter the man of her dreams in an incident involving food and a moving vehicle.

Jamie is torn between ridiculing the prediction and pondering if the psychic could actually be correct.

She continues with her daily life, but with an eye out for a tall, handsome stranger carrying food.

Months later, as she enters a subway car, she collides with Jack Davidson, who is taking a dinner of spaghetti and meatballs to his grandfather.

Could this be destiny?

Jack Davidson has a secret - several secrets, in fact.

The first one is that he has been following Jamie.

Not in a creepy stalker way; he's just been keeping an eye on her.

The organization she works for has asked for a grant from his foundation, and during a routine check of the program, he found that someone has been day trading with funds "borrowed" from the organization.

Jack has been following Jamie to figure out who is behind the quasi-embezzlement.

When Jamie runs into Jack - literally - he feels the need to stay in touch with her, if only to continue his investigation.

What Jack doesn't expect, though, is Jamie being the most beautiful, lush, and compassionate woman he's ever seen (or spilled food on).

One dinner date evolves into an all-night conversation which leads to early morning passion.

Both Jamie and Jack think this could be the start of a great relationship - until Jamie discovers another one of Jack's secrets.

From Jack's cantankerous old grandfather to Jamie's cross-dressing psychic, this fast-paced romance has a cast of fun, well-developed characters that the reader comes to love.

Even though the conflict between Jamie and Jack is based on a secret Jack kept, McCarthy doesn't prolong this misunderstanding.

The couple talks it out and has to decide how to move forward.

The slightly suspenseful subplot is resolved carefully and is skillfully integrated into the overall theme of the book.

Erin McCarthy writes excellent romance and can always be relied on for a great read.

Social worker Jamie Peters has endured her fair share of heartbreaks. However, these experiences haven't managed to dissuade her from the pursuit of true love.

Jamie, who is hell-bent on saving the world, devotes all of her time and energy to assisting criminals in restoring their lives. Her unwavering desire to transform everything around her for the better sometimes interferes with her own personal life. Seeking help from a "psychic" friend, she discovers through a tarot card reading that a fortuitous encounter with her soul mate is imminent. When this meeting doesn't occur immediately, Jamie begins to question whether it will ever happen. That is, until she unexpectedly bumps into the handsome stranger, Jack Davidson, on the subway.

Instantaneously, Jamie and Jack sense an immediate connection and decide to throw caution to the wind and meet again. Jamie finds herself rapidly falling for him and is convinced that no man could be better. Regrettably, Jack harbors a few secrets from Jamie. There is no doubt in his mind that she is the one for him, but he is reluctant to risk what he has with her by revealing his true self.

When Jamie realizes that she doesn't truly know Jack after all, both of their worlds come crashing down. If there is one thing Jamie detests more than anything, it's liars, and it appears that Jack may have just squandered his opportunity with the love of his life.

"You Don't Know Jack" had significant potential. I am an Erin McCarthy enthusiast, but this was definitely not her finest work. The storyline was somewhat convoluted and rushed, and the sex scenes were excessive. I am all in favor of some steamy moments, but they should be gradual. I would have preferred to see more character development rather than just them tearing off their clothes. 2 ½ stars.

A few months ago, I devoured a novella by Erin McCarthy that I adored. During that time, many of my online friends were raving about her Fast Track series. I also found the first book of the NY Girlfriends series, The Pregnancy Test, to be a good read. So, when I picked up You Don't Know Jack, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, it didn't meet them. The story had no real plot and failed to hold my attention. I even set it aside for two days, which is rare for me. There were several reasons for this. The little plot that existed relied too much on love at first sight. I can sometimes buy into this premise, but not in this case. The author also included a bit of mysticism with a psychic's prediction, but I'm too cynical to believe it. The protagonists' quick jump into bed felt like a tired plot device, and their lack of chemistry after that was disappointing. I never felt an emotional connection between them.

In my opinion, the plot was lacking in focus and substance. It started with Jack "accidentally" meeting Jamie while investigating illegal day trading. Jack lies to Jamie about his identity, but she finds out the truth after their first night together. Then, Jack easily discovers the identity of the person responsible for the illegal trading. After that, the story becomes about Jack pursuing Jamie while she protests his lies, and both dealing with family issues and Caroline's wedding. None of this was very exciting. I also thought the premise of Jack and Jamie not knowing each other was weak. Since they both live in the same city and Jamie is roommates with Jack's sister, it seems odd that they wouldn't have met before. Additionally, there was a lot of unnecessary narration and dialog that didn't add anything to the story.

Jack and Jamie were likable characters, but their characterizations were shallow. They seemed to have depths that weren't explored, and in the end, I didn't feel like I really knew them. Jack is a Wall Street genius who quit his job and is now searching for meaning in life. Jamie is a free-spirited social worker who helps ex-cons. I liked their individual qualities, but their actions and decisions sometimes felt immature. For example, Jamie runs away when she finds out the truth about Jack, and Jack lies for both his investigation and because he's tired of women only after his money. These aspects could have been developed more, but they weren't.

Despite its flaws, there were a few things I liked about You Don't Know Jack. The secondary characters were colorful and interesting, especially Jack's grandfather, Will, and the ex-con teenager, Austin. I also enjoyed the steamy love scenes, which were classic Erin McCarthy. However, without deeper emotions, they felt like just hot sex. Overall, this was a slow, plodding book that didn't fully engage me. I need more substance in my romances to be entertained. You Don't Know Jack is the second book in the NY Girlfriends series, which is currently on hold. If it's ever finished, I might give the other books a try, since I've enjoyed some of McCarthy's previous work.

Jamie Peters is a modern-day hippie social worker.

She devotes her entire life to helping others. In fact, even her past boyfriends were like projects for her.

Then, her friend Beckwith, a reformed criminal who now cross-dresses and is a psychic, reads her cards.

Beckwith predicts that she'll meet her soul mate and provides some rather explicit details.

Enter Jack, also known as Jonathan Davidson. He is the brother of Jamie's friend Caroline, but Jamie has never met him before.

Jack is investigating Jamie's place of work as they applied for a grant and some irregularities were discovered.

One day, while following Jamie, she accidentally bumps into him and, lo and behold, all of Beckwith's predictions come true!

However, Jack is completely different from the guys Jamie usually dates and initially, he lies about who he is.

This story is filled with fun, sexiness, interesting characters, and a whole lot of action.

I truly enjoyed reading it and was captivated from start to finish.

It's a great read that keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you root for the characters.

Overall, it's a highly entertaining story that I would recommend to anyone looking for a good time.
