Interesting book on acting like and potentially becoming a billionaire. Most of the book is just gee-whiz kind of material, e.g., a week in Trump's life and lots of discussion about "The Apprentice". The one piece of the book I really enjoyed (and may come back to) is a top 10 list in one of the early chapters.

I listened to the audiobook and it was a quick read/listen with a few useful tidbits. I'm not sure I would have finished the book if I'd had the words-on-paper edition. Yet I now have a much better understanding of The Donald and how he thinks. The title is far more grandiose than what I obtained from the book, but it certainly contributed to my understanding of the way the world works, at least some people.

Read it if you want to learn a few tidbits about business, success, life, and real-estate, while learning about an interesting icon in American culture (especially, with his newly minted political career...).

I don't have money or real estate. So yeah I can't do anything in the book.

I read this book a decade ago when it first came out and found it met my expectations: incohesive chapters with little evidence to back up his claims. As for the effectiveness of his advise, one merely needs to consider that in the last decade since this book was published we have yet to hear a single billionaire (or even millionaire) claim: "My short journey to riches began after I read Trumps’ book on how to think..."

When the book was written he was Mr Trump, not yet President. When everything the man touches has evidence of his business smarts, I want to learn what he has to say. Every situation is different, but there are some basics that are wise to know and have on the back burner, even if it might not be a current need. Under the Biden administration it is nearly impossible to buy real estate at a reasonable amount unless you live in a blue state where prices are high, and move to a red state where you can buy far less. Each chapter in the book deals with realtors, attorneys, landscape, interior decorators, and quality products. The later part of the book is more informative of his personal life. Well known celebrities (many who turned on him when he ran for President) Melonia who was his fiancé at the time, and his show The Apprentice. He likes to toot his own horn, and humor about how great being rich is, but the very fact we read the book means something inside wants to learn from someone who is successful. Who has had to learn as he goes and made mistakes, but learned from them. I love this man and learned new things in reading this book.

Donald Trump's Think Like a Billionaire thoroughly proves that, though he may be a billionaire, he is absolutely incapable of thinking. This book was filled with observations that are either trite and meaningless, or so painfully evident that a five year old would be able to make more profound comments.

Allow me to summarize his world view, as presented by this book.
1) I am in love with me.
2) Everyone is in love with me.
3) If you aren't in love with me, you're not thinking like a billionaire.

His advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is even less valuable. His only insight when doing anything appears to be, well, just hire someone else. Why would you want to waste your time doing anything? Come on, you're a billionaire.

Oh wait, you aren't.

I wish I could give this book 0 stars, but I decided to be merciful. I picked up this book, expecting bigotry, racism, sexism, and flagrantly offensive comments. To be fair, this book was none of that. It was merely grotesquely boring and a piece of trash. I equate the experience of reading this book to be roughly the same as listening to your alarm clock ringing on low volume for an extended period of time. You aren't going to give birth to raging hatred, but eventually you are going to fling this book on a wall and just go back to sleep.

I’m generally not a fan of Trump, but in the spirit of stepping out of my reading comfort zone and actively challenging myself to read things that I normally wouldn’t, I decided to give this a shot. Plus I didn’t have another physical book handy and I was clearing out my basement of our old books soooo I thought why not?

The beginning third of the book is surprisingly very helpful. Donald actually gives some tangible pieces of advice on real estate investing, building a brand, being a shrewd business person, and good etiquette. It’s definitely not a handbook for business skills by any means, but I was pleasantly taken aback to have learned some new things.

The latter half of the book is all fluff…at least to me. I’m sure others may enjoy reading it, but personally I could care less about The Apprentice, the Miss America contests, and his day-to-day schedule, although it was nice to read about the behind-the-scenes of hosting SNL.

A recurring theme is the way he always describes women as “beautiful” and “gorgeous”; it’s a compliment, sure, but feels a little weird when he’s describing teenagers and the girlfriends/wives of people he’s met. But maybe I’m being too sensitive, living in a post-Me Too era. Anyway, after 4 recent years of hearing him speak, I guess I’ve (sadly) gotten somewhat used to his descriptions.

I’ll add a 3rd star from my original rating of 2 because the book is very easy to read. As you can probably expect, given the reports that Trump liked his presidential memos to be VERY short, the writing style is very simplistic. This book is perfect to start off reading earnestly and then putting in your headphones and skimming through to the end.

It's not good enough to want it. You've got to know how to get it. Real estate titan, bestselling author, and TV star Donald J. Trump is the man to teach you the billionaire mind-set-how to think about money, career skills, and life. Here is crucial advice on investing in real estate from the expert, everything from dealing with brokers to renovating to assessing the value of property, buying and selling, and securing a mortgage. Trump will show you how to cut costs, decide how much risk to assume in your investments, and divide up your portfolio. He'll also teach you how to impress anyone, how to correct or criticize someone effectively, and how to know if your friends are loyal-everything you need to know to get ahead.

If there's one thing I wish I had done before buying my first house, it was reading this book. Highly educational and informative, it's no wonder how Trump is so successful in real estate. Definitely a must-read for every person who wishes to own a bit of land, whether it would be as a forever home, a temporary settlement, or second form of income.

Also, quite sad to see how much joy Trump found in his relationship with Jeff Zucker, especially since Zucker turned Donald into public enemy number 1 back in 2016. Guess people change.

I bought this book at the Goodwill in order to prevent anyone else from having to read it.

Honestly, I expected to hate and detest this book, and was disconcerted to find myself enjoying it within the first few minutes. It's a quick read, as the chapters are short, the sentences are short, and the words are short, very much like Donald Trump's penis.

I admit that was a low blow, but one has to understand that this man is the quintessential ego out of control, the anti-spirituality, anti-God, anti-humanity, anti-love abomination that befouls the Earth and is collectively responsible for all evils and falsehoods that exist. So I'm at liberty to make a penis joke here and there at his expense. It's okay - I don't think his ego will be too bruised, don't worry.

There are some positive aspects of this book. If you're looking to buy or rent an apartment, bedroom, house or hotel room, there's useful information. If you want to know how to deal with various types of professionals (or how not to) such as contractors, lawyers, bellhops, etc - then there are some vaguely useful pieces of advice. Trump does have a lot of experience in interacting with the many types of people who actually do the work of running the world and propping up his enormous ego, since if he did not, he would actually have to learn a valuable skill himself, like how to tie his own shoelaces.

In addition, there's a treasure trove of insight into the nooks and crannies (more crannies than nooks) of Donald J Trump's thought-processes. I am certain that Mr Putin would agree, which is why Trump, not Clinton or Bernie is currently the President of the United States of America.

However, as the book approached the midpoint, his ego ran out of steam and focus, and he switched subjects abruptly to retelling the story of his adventures with Saturday Night Live in the good old days before he hated it for skewering his ego in the final season of the final campaign for the Presidency. The boredom and inauthenticity he displayed in pretending to be appreciative of Lorne Michaels, etc (or of any other human being) was contagious and I found myself struggling to stay awake through the remainder of this poorly-written piece of propaganda.

The method of storytelling is reminiscent of how movies portray mob bosses when they talk about themselves in an attempt to make themselves sound good. If this kind of writing had a smell, it would smell like casinos, cash, cigars, cocaine, and sweat. Even though Trump says he doesn't smoke cigars, and I believe it, the cigars come with the cufflinks and the limousines. These props are absolutely necessary for those who want to play the type of role that Trump has played his whole life. Fools need their caps just as much as kings need their crowns.

The idea that this man or anyone like him is considered one of the successes of America is a deeply shameful and nauseating concept. Truly it was written: "One cannot serve both God and money." And Trump, like so many other people, has made his choice - and it shows in the quality of his behavior, his character, his "thinking," his speaking, his policies, his opinions, his Tweets, his criminal activities, and in all other aspects of his bloated egoic self.

Like anyone who considers themselves an alpha male, Donald J. Trump is the quintessential beta male, and if it weren't the case he wouldn't spend so much of his time trying to get back at his detractors like a vain, petty, spoiled brat of a prince. If it weren't the case, the word "TRUMP" would not be writ so large, so in-your-face, as if it's somehow intimidating to other males if the text size is sufficient relative to the page. This quasi-conscious male posturing is symptomatic of the patriarchic rape culture that glorifies men like Trump and his doting fanboys and poisons all goodness and decency in true masculinity in this country and in the world. He is a gorilla in a clown suit, and he can't even write his own books - one can only imagine the awkward and shameful process of him dictating this garbage to Meredith McIver, who, one can only suppose, did the typing, the ego-stroking, the editing, and any other actual work involved in the production of this "book."

Overall, I would not recommend that anyone else read this book unless they want the sort of insights into how Hell thinks or what it's all about that I do.

I'll admit it, I love The Donald and really enjoyed several of his other books. But the advice in this book is so simplistic that it's of little use, and some of it is downright insulting. For instance, on the topic of diet he says one of the five rules of foods on the Mar-A-Lago diet is, "It cannot make you gain weight." Um, duuh!

I wouldn't recommend this book. Read, "The Art of the Deal" or "How to Get Rich" instead.
