A Wrinkle In Time: 4/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

At the beginning, this book was extremely confusing and difficult to get into. It was like being in a dream where nothing made sense, just pure chaos. However, despite that, it was still enjoyable and fun. It was both creative and strange simultaneously. I wasn't really a big fan of the writing style or most of the characters, with the exception of Charles Wallace. Nevertheless, it's an enjoyable story filled with fantasy elements. The ending was a bit clichéd and abrupt, but it had a great message for young readers.

A Wind In The Door: 2.5/5 stars ⭐⭐

I had the feeling that the author could have recapped the first book or at least made some references to it. Instead, the characters seemed to go on with their lives as if the first book never happened. Why dwell on the past, right? The two new fantasy characters introduced were actually really interesting and kind of creepy. The whole thing had a very whimsical feel to it. The ending gave a nostalgic, yearning type of feeling.

A Swiftly Tilting Planet: DNF at chapter 4

This one simply did not capture my attention. It got way too sci-fi for my taste, and that's why I had to DNF (Did Not Finish) it.

I clearly remember that I either read this book or had it read aloud to me during my elementary school days. Recently, I had a strong desire to go back and reread it. As I started reading, some parts seemed familiar, but not a great deal. It turned out to be a relatively quick read, which was perfect for me to focus on during my day off. I'm truly happy that I had the opportunity to get it read.

Now, I'm extremely curious about what the other two books in the trilogy are like. I'm eager to explore and discover the unique stories and characters that they might hold. I wonder if they will continue to capture my attention and imagination as this first book did.

I'm looking forward to delving into the next installments and seeing how the overall narrative unfolds. It's exciting to think about the new adventures and experiences that await me within the pages of those books.

I can't wait to embark on this literary journey and find out for myself what makes this trilogy so special.

Classic children's science fiction series offer an excellent exploration of various space and time travel science conceptions. They also present engaging characters and stories. L'Engle creates a wonderful mix of characters, especially the Murray kids and their friends. These children have to endure being the offspring of brilliant parents, which proves useful when extraordinary events occur to them. She also provides neatly simplified explanations of some rather far-fetched science concepts, like space travel and the ability to exceed the speed of light (the ant along a string being a classic example). One criticism is that adults might find the endings rather sudden. However, considering these stories are targeted at kids, they are great reads that could potentially spark their interest in science.

A Wrinkle in Time is a captivating story that centers around a teenage girl named Meg. She is far from being the typical protagonist one might expect in a book. Meg isn't the popular and glamorous girl that many books usually spotlight. Instead, she is awkward and stands out in a crowd for her differences.

Alongside her younger brother Charles and her friend Calvin, Meg embarks on an extraordinary adventure through time. Their mission is to rescue Meg's scientist father who has been mysteriously trapped on another planet. This science fiction novel takes readers on a thrilling journey filled with unique characters, strange landscapes, and mind-bending concepts.

It offers a refreshing departure from the ordinary and is a great choice for anyone who craves out-of-the-ordinary reads. With its engaging plot and well-developed characters, A Wrinkle in Time has the power to transport readers to a world beyond their imagination and keep them hooked from start to finish.

A friend gave me this set of books, and I finally got around to reading the first one for the second time.

The children in the Murray family have an encounter with a strange set of ladies. These ladies ultimately lead them to another world through a form of time travel. In this other world, they manage to rescue their father.

There are numerous predictable Young Adult (YA) themes present in the story. These include the love of family, which is a central and heartwarming aspect. The theme of courage is also prominent as the children face various challenges and obstacles in their adventure. Additionally, the concept of new experiences is explored as they are thrust into a completely different and unknown world.

This first book holds great significance as it won the Newbery Medal and is widely regarded as classic children's literature. It has captivated generations of readers with its engaging story and relatable characters.

A Wrinkle in Time was an enchanting book that completely immersed the reader in the world of Meg.

Following her journey as a young girl who felt lost in the world was not only relatable but also highly interesting and inspiring. L'Engle crafted this book with numerous magical elements that enabled the imagination to soar unrestrictedly. The writing quality was outstanding and effortless to comprehend, ensuring that readers of all levels could easily delight in it.

If anyone has watched the movie and questioned why so many individuals vehemently contend that the book was superior, I wholeheartedly recommend giving this story a read. It enables you to be entirely transported into a world brimming with magic, love, and bravery.

I believe that younger readers have a penchant for a story like this as it allows them to identify with the feeling of not quite fitting in. Nevertheless, Meg is an extraordinary person filled with tenacity and passion, giving the reader an opportunity to feel brave themselves. I also think that the magical elements in this book are extremely appealing as they actually encourage the reader to think beyond their own lives. Overall, it is an excellent book for an adolescent to read and truly enjoy.

I'm reading this at 38, not 12 like you're probably supposed to. So, I wasn't blown away by this like everyone seems to be.

However, I do see how it was a very influential, ahead-of-its-time novel. The first one flew by and was great. It had a captivating storyline and engaging characters that kept me hooked from start to finish.

The second one, on the other hand, I found to be quite a slog. As nothing seems to much happen and it's just a lot of repeating its concepts to make sure you Really Get It. This made it a bit tiresome to read and I had to push myself to get through it.

But then book 3 was fun again. As the explaining was out of the way, and there was a story again. The plot thickened and there were more twists and turns that made it an enjoyable read. Overall, I think this is a good series, but it does have its flaws.

It's been years and years since I read these books.

With the movie coming out, I thought it was about time I reread them. (Of course, I've now missed my chance to see the film in theaters, but I'll catch it on DVD, so it'll be okay.)

I haven't really thought much about them for a long time either. A lot of the other fantasy I read, both as a kid and as an adult, sort of overshadowed them, and this trilogy sank into my unconscious. (Upon rereading, I realized that one or more of my story ideas are really just riffing on aspects of this book.)

It was a lot of fun to read this trilogy again. It brought back many memories of what I thought about them when I read them as a kid, and I found that they hold up pretty well, as I've detailed in my reviews of the individual volumes. Well, okay, the middle book is still a bit weak, and I now notice how little continuity there is between the books, which I didn't pick up on as a kid.

But there are many cool ideas here and a ton of important concepts for both children and adults. Themes of love and kindness, of fighting against conformity and totalitarianism, and most importantly, of using empathy instead of violence to solve problems.

I'm glad these books are becoming popular again thanks to the film adaptation. I think that whether you've ever read this trilogy or not, it's well worth picking it up now, given the state of the world. It's a good reminder of what we can do when we're hopeful and loving, and it's just a great story.

If I ever have kids of my own, this is definitely one of the things I look forward to introducing them to. And until then, I'll do my best to recommend it to all the kids who come into the library where I work. It's just that good and important.

I read the first two installments in this series - A Wrinkle in Time and A Wind in the Door, before ultimately deciding to abandon the third one, A Swiftly Tilting Planet.

These books, unfortunately, don't seem to hold up as well over time. In a sense, I believe that I would have truly relished them during my childhood (definitely much more than those blasted Enid Blytons). However, they don't offer the same level of enjoyment and engagement for adult readers.

A great many wonderful fantastical concepts are explored within these pages, presenting a wild and captivating blend of magic and scientific inquiry. And let's face it, who doesn't have a soft spot for a group of precocious misfit kids? They are misunderstood by their peers but get to experience a series of thrilling adventures that their classmates could only dream of.

The first book concludes rather abruptly, leaving the reader somewhat unsatisfied. On the other hand, the second one seems to drag on for an excessive amount of time, causing my interest to wane fairly rapidly.

Nevertheless, I would still wholeheartedly recommend this series to any young person below the age of 16 who is seeking a touch of magic and adventure in their reading experiences. It has the potential to spark their imaginations and take them on unforgettable journeys.
