SciFi Fantasy fun!

It's not my typical choice of reading material as I usually prefer other genres. However, I must admit that I really enjoyed these quick reads.

The stories were filled with imaginative worlds, unique characters, and exciting adventures that kept me engaged from start to finish.

Even though it's not my usual cup of tea, I found myself getting lost in the pages and eagerly turning them to see what would happen next.

These SciFi Fantasy books offered a refreshing break from my normal reading routine and introduced me to a new and exciting genre that I'm now eager to explore further.

I would highly recommend these quick reads to anyone looking for a fun and engaging escape into a world of imagination and adventure.

3.5* - Wrinkle in Time: When I was a kid, this book was my absolute favorite. However, as an adult, my perception of it has changed. While I don't like it as much as I did in my childhood, I would still definitely pass it on to my daughter to enjoy. It has a certain charm and magic that can capture the imagination of young readers.

4* - Wind in the Door: This is the book that I remembered the most from my childhood. And upon re-reading it, I truly enjoyed it once again. It is so inventive and full of unique ideas. The story takes the reader on a thrilling adventure that is both exciting and thought-provoking.

3* - Swiftly Tilting Planet: Meh. I vaguely remembered this one. It has elements similar to Steinbeck's East of Eden with the generational names and themes. However, I didn't like the blue-eyed savior family themes, especially the portrayal of the pure idealized Native American strains, which I found rather racist. The pacing was plodding, and I didn't like the constant shifting of time. It felt like a combination of historical fiction and sci-fi, but without any real depth in the historical fiction aspect. And the addition of unicorns just seemed a bit out of place.

Overall, I'll let Wind in the Door with its awesome cherubim carry the rating. It is a book that has stood the test of time for me and continues to be a favorite.

This is a compilation of all three A Wrinkle In Time books.

The first book has its merits, but I couldn't help but be put off by how bratty Meg was. She seemed to constantly throw tantrums and act in a rather unlikable way.

Then comes the second book, A Wind in the Door, which, in my opinion, is not good at all. Once again, Meg's bratty behavior is a major turn-off. It makes it difficult to engage with the story and her character.

However, the final book, A Swiftly Tilting Planet, is truly amazing! It takes the reader on an exciting and thought-provoking journey. The story is engaging, and the characters are well-developed. I would highly recommend only reading the third book. It stands on its own as a great piece of literature and offers a fulfilling reading experience.

Overall, while the first and second books have their flaws, the third book more than makes up for them. It's a must-read for fans of the series or anyone looking for a captivating and unique story.

An engaging story with mysteries yet to be solved...

A new book, a new story behind it. Hey Bookworms, here is another book review, but on a different book. Readers who enjoy sci-fi, fiction and books with enriching vocabulary, you have come to the right book to read!

It all begins when a normal teenager, leading an ordinary life just like any other, starts to act differently in school. She misses her scientist father, who is nowhere to be found, and little does she know that her life will change in a matter of days. One day, when she and her brother Charles take their dog, Fortinbras for a walk, Charles leads her to a strange-looking house. Even weirder people, the Mrs W's, live in it. Before they enter, they bump into a boy named Calvin, who is going to the same house. They start to talk and soon become new friends. They visit the house and ask for clues to meet their missing father (not Calvin's). The Mrs W's don't provide clues immediately but tell them that a mystery awaits them to solve, although they can't disclose what it is. So, the three friends prepare for their mystery. One of the Mrs W's reveals that their father is behind the darkness and they need to travel through a tesseract to a different planet. Meg and Charles are worried but trust the W's in what they are doing. They follow the W's and end up on a planet called Camazotz. The Mrs W's say they won't be able to assist them and they have to find their father on their own. The three set off, but something goes wrong during the search! Can they overcome the evil forces and find their missing father?

I truly enjoyed this book. However, in the beginning, I found it rather dull to read. But when the part about the tesseract emerged, I was extremely excited to read more and discover what had happened! Now that you've read this, purchase the book and start turning the pages!

**Not Standing the Test of Time**

Finally, I read a "Wrinkle in Time". For years, I have passed this item on the bookstore shelves and always intended to get around to it. Years ago, I did read a "Swiftly Tilting Planet". On this attempted re-read, I only got halfway through. I found the banter between the characters lackluster. The book just didn't move forward.

It seems that some books, no matter how highly regarded they may have been in the past, may not hold up well over time. In the case of "Wrinkle in Time", perhaps the writing style or the character interactions that were once charming now seem a bit dated. The story that was supposed to be a thrilling adventure felt rather stagnant to me.

I realize Disney is planning a cinematic version of "Wrinkle in Time". I will wait for the video. Maybe the movie will be able to bring the story to life in a more engaging way, with modern special effects and a fresh interpretation. It will be interesting to see if the filmmakers can capture the essence of the book and make it relevant for a new generation of viewers.

It's been years since I had read this trilogy.

Recently, as I was re-reading it, I was instantly reminded of why I love it so much.

The Barnes & Noble edition is truly a sight to behold. It is gorgeously bound with a beautiful cover that immediately catches the eye.

The pages are also lovely, making the reading experience even more enjoyable.

I found myself speeding through the book easily, completely engrossed in the story.

Moreover, I understood a great deal more than I did when I was younger.

This time around, I was able to see and appreciate the Christian themes that I had previously overlooked.

These themes were not overbearing but rather subtle enough to be truly appreciated.

Overall, this trilogy remains one of my absolute favorites of all time.

I read the first book and was completely amazed. It was like a breath of fresh air, so creative and engaging that I simply fell in love with it. Naturally, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the rest of the series. However, my excitement was short-lived.

Immediately after finishing the first book, I was plunged into despair as the second one failed to live up to the high standards set by its predecessor. And as you might have guessed, the third book was even worse. I found myself wondering what could possibly be more entertaining - reading about a boy who enters people's bodies and experiences their lives with a unicorn, or simply staring at a wall.

The entire book seemed to lack any real substance or excitement. It was just the same old story of the boy living in people's bodies, without any significant plot twists or developments. While I will admit that the concept was creative, it ultimately failed to deliver the kind of thrill and excitement that I was hoping for.

Of the Trilogy, the first and truly classic A Wrinkle in Time is without a doubt the 5 Star hero! It is an absolute must-read.

The Wind in the Door was also great. In my opinion, it deserves a 4 Star rating as it builds on the success of the first book.

However, the third book, A Swiftly Tilting Planet, seems a bit off. The way the tale is told and how the characters seem more like passengers along for the ride rather than actively influencing the story gives it a slightly different feel. Nevertheless, it is still a good read. I have a soft spot for time travel stuff, which comes from my inner comic geek.

I recommend reading these books until you stop enjoying them. There are more books in the series, and I plan to read the next one. But I don't think it will ever reach the level of excitement and enjoyment that A Wrinkle in Time offers. That book is truly a classic!

The fact of the matter is that A Wrinkle in Time has a plethora of interesting ideas and concepts.

However, what truly sucks is that it's written terribly.

L'Engle, on one hand, can clearly pen absolutely beautiful passages. She has very unique ideas that have the potential to captivate readers. But unfortunately, it seems that all of these wonderful elements are caught up in the whole let's sound smart and topical schtick that she insists on pushing.

I didn't like Golden Compass. I also didn't like this particular aspect of A Wrinkle in Time.

On the other hand, I love Young Wizards and Narnia. These series have managed to engage me with their well-written stories, vivid characters, and imaginative worlds.

It's a shame that A Wrinkle in Time didn't quite live up to its potential in terms of writing, despite having such great ideas at its core.

Perhaps with a different approach to the writing style, it could have been a truly remarkable and beloved book.

The characters in this book are Meg, Charles Wallace, and their friend Calvin.

Meg is a smart and determined girl, while Charles Wallace is a precocious and special child. Calvin is their loyal friend who joins them on their adventure.

Together, the three set out on a mission with the help of three mysterious women. Their goal is to find Meg and Charles Wallace's father, who was taken by the Dark Thing years before.

The story is extremely well written, with vivid descriptions and engaging characters. It is a pleasure to read, and it takes the reader on a thrilling journey through different dimensions and challenges.

I believe that I could use this book in my classroom as a break from the norms of the standard curriculum. It would激发 students' imaginations and interest in literature, while also teaching them important lessons about courage, friendship, and the power of love.

Overall, this book is a wonderful addition to any classroom library and is sure to be enjoyed by students of all ages.

It's a world that is somewhat similar to Narnia, yet it has an added layer of confusion that keeps you on your toes.

The story is filled with cute and endearing characters that you can't help but fall in love with. They bring the low-fantasy world to life with their unique personalities and adventures.

Set in this enchanting realm, there are also profound spiritual themes that add depth and meaning to the narrative. These themes explore questions of morality, purpose, and the human condition.

As you journey through this world, you'll find yourself constantly surprised and intrigued by the twists and turns of the plot. It's a place where the ordinary and the extraordinary collide, creating a truly unforgettable experience.

I didn't have a favorable impression of Meg.

She never truly underwent significant development throughout the story.

I also had my reservations about the first book, "A Wrinkle in Time." It appeared rather flat to me.

The narrative didn't seem to progress in a meaningful way.

I felt that it was more like a simple beginning and end, lacking a real ebb and flow.

Yes, there was conflict present, but it was resolved far too quickly.

Moreover, the characters seemed underdeveloped.

Aside from Charles Wallace, I felt that the others were merely fillers and didn't contribute much to the overall story.

I even had the urge to slap Meg every time she came across as whiny.

However, I did find myself enjoying the second and third books.

They seemed to offer more depth and engaging storylines, which made up for the shortcomings of the first book.

Overall, while my initial experience with the series wasn't entirely positive, the later books managed to redeem it to some extent.
