I truly adored the very first book in this captivating series. It was an absolute delight to read, filled with engaging characters, a thrilling plot, and a world that I couldn't help but get lost in.

Now, I find myself eagerly anticipating the release of this next installment. I simply can't wait to dive back into this wonderful fictional universe and continue following the adventures of the characters.

I have high expectations for this new book, hoping that it will be just as amazing as the first one. I'm sure it will offer more excitement, more twists and turns, and more moments that will make my heart race.

I'm already imagining myself curled up with a cup of tea, completely immersed in the story, and forgetting about the world around me. This series has become one of my favorites, and I'm looking forward to seeing where the author takes us next.

Scary to think about the madness revolving around The Salem Witch Trials.

It was a time of great hysteria and paranoia, where innocent people were accused, tortured, and executed.

Even though this book is fiction, it is easy to imagine the real innocents who died during this dark period in history.

The descriptions in the book bring to life the horror and injustice that took place.

Also terrifying was reading about the treatments that were performed by the "Doctors" way back then.

If "bleeding" didn't work, well then, just get them high as a kite so at least they die with a smile on their face.

It's a disturbing thought that such cruel and ineffective methods were used.

Shudders just thinking about it.

The Salem Witch Trials serve as a reminder of how easily fear and superstition can lead to tragedy and the importance of always seeking the truth.

Before reading this book, one must first read the first part! Matthew is convinced of the witch's innocence. There is one or perhaps even more murderers in the city. Is the murderer or murderers in league with the devil? Or has Rachel really hexed him? This is an extremely exciting continuation of the story, with gruesome scenes and a great ending. I am truly enthusiastic about the Matthew Corbett series and will definitely continue reading this series!

The story of Matthew Corbett continues to unfold in a thrilling manner. The mystery surrounding the murders deepens, leaving the reader on the edge of their seat. The description of the gruesome scenes adds to the overall atmosphere of the book, making it a truly engaging read. The question of whether the murderer is in league with the devil or if Rachel has indeed hexed Matthew keeps the reader guessing until the very end. The great ending ties up all the loose ends and leaves the reader satisfied, yet eager for more. The Matthew Corbett series is a must-read for fans of mystery and thriller novels.

Okay, so on Goodreads, 5 stars is equivalent to "It was amazing". Considering the first book of "Speaks the Nightbird" (for which I gave 4 stars), I truly felt that the story and writing as a whole merited 4.5 stars. I haven't read a book as long as this one (just over 400 pages) in such a short period for quite a while.

This second book also flew by for me, and the fast-paced plot definitely had me eagerly anticipating every page turn. McCammon concludes things very nicely in the end, not in a way that seemed convenient or forced. This book served as an excellent reminder of why I loved reading his books so much when I was younger.

"Nightbird" maintained my interest, and more importantly, I became invested in the characters. I have a soft spot for sad endings. Although I can't say this book necessarily has one, it does have its fair share of passages that evoke emotions. On a completely unrelated note, I did seem to have a slight allergic reaction to some of the pages near the end. What kind of paper are they using these days?!?

The story had a successful and interesting conclusion, although it did seem to drag a little towards the end. Nevertheless, McCammon should definitely be commended for venturing outside his familiar territory of contemporary horror and delving into the 17th century. As it turns out, this historical period makes for an excellent backdrop for superstition-driven horror.

I am eagerly anticipating his next book featuring the same protagonist. This particular book marks the first one I have completed in the new year, and now I am embarking on the self-imposed challenge of reading 100 books throughout this year.

It's an exciting goal, and I'm looking forward to the literary adventures that lie ahead. I hope that McCammon's future works will continue to captivate and thrill me, just as this one did.

Overall, despite the minor flaw at the end, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what else McCammon has in store for us.

I have discovered a new favorite author, and let me tell you, it is truly amazing!

Their book is an absolute masterpiece. From the very first page, I was completely hooked. The writing style is engaging, the story is captivating, and the characters are so well-developed that I feel like I know them personally.

Every chapter brings new surprises and keeps me on the edge of my seat. I find myself constantly thinking about the book even when I'm not reading it. It has had such a profound impact on me that I can't wait to explore more of this author's work.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good read. It is a must-have for any book lover's collection. Trust me, once you pick it up, you won't be able to put it down.

Having just purchased the third installment, I find myself reading this once more, as it has been quite some time since my last encounter. It is truly amazing how, within just a few pages, one is effortlessly transported back in time to the 17th Century. The characters spring to life in my mind, and I quickly remember and form associations with them. I am eagerly looking forward to reaching the end of this captivating story, once again.

Now, just a couple of days later, I have completed the book. I must admit that I enjoyed it even more than the first time around. The vivid descriptions, engaging plot, and well-developed characters all contributed to making this a truly unforgettable reading experience. I can't wait to see what the author has in store for us in the next installment.

So, it's crystal clear that I have yet another series character to pursue - Matthew Corbett!

My intuition tells me that he's going to be a fascinating blend of a colonial Sherlock Holmes and Repairman Jack, and I simply adore this concept.

Moreover, the plotting in this series is incredibly intricate. It makes me feel a sense of despair as I wonder if I'll ever be able to master the art of plotting for my own longer works.

Nevertheless, I'm determined to move forward and explore more of Matthew Corbett's adventures.

I can't wait to see where this character will take me and what new mysteries and challenges he'll encounter along the way.

It's truly an exciting journey, and I'm looking forward to every moment of it.
