Once again, I found myself liking the movie more than the book. It feels rather mean to say this, especially considering the author is a newly widowed woman. However, I just can't help but express my strong dislike for Holly. She is truly an insufferable little shit. Her actions and behavior throughout the story are so irritating that it's hard to find any redeeming qualities in her. I understand that maybe the author was trying to create a complex and flawed character, but in my opinion, she went too far. In the movie, though, they managed to tone down some of her more annoying traits and make her a bit more likable. Overall, while I respect the author's work, my personal preference leans towards the movie adaptation when it comes to this particular story.

Beautiful.

Wonderful.

Lovely.

A Masterpiece.

Heart-warming.

Fantastic.

Sensational.

Emotionally evoking.

Cecilia, you are an amazing thinker and writer.

I don't know how you thought of this story, but you did it well.

Not only did you conceive of this wonderful tale, but you also brought it to life on paper even better.

This beautiful piece was like observing the most beautiful portrait ever painted through a glass that was spotted with the raindrops.

The rain in this metaphor represents the emotion that the entire world feels upon knowing that this book exists.

It was truly an amazing experience to read.

I look forward to more books from you.

I've heard that 'Love, Rosie' is also very good.

I can't wait to see what other masterpieces you have in store for us in the future.

A soul mate is that special someone who understands you like no one else can. They love you with a depth and intensity that is truly unique. And they will always be there for you, through thick and thin, no matter what life throws your way.

Some people might say that nothing lasts forever, but I firmly believe that for certain individuals, love has an eternal quality. It persists even after we have left this world.

This book is an incredibly agonizing piece. It vividly portrays the experience of losing the love of your life and the excruciating pain that follows. It shows how your heart can take a lifetime to heal. While life continues to move forward for everyone else, you feel trapped in a never-ending loophole.

In the story, people try to reach out to the protagonist, Holly, but she is so overcome by grief that she isolates herself completely. She pushes away everyone who attempts to come near her. However, a glimmer of hope appears in her life in the form of a package containing letters from her late husband, Gerry. These letters become the sole source of hope that Holly can hold onto.

The book beautifully depicts three stages of human emotions: love, loss, and healing. It is truly remarkable how just a few letters from Gerry are able to provide Holly with the guidance she needs to move on with her life. This novel has the profound ability to stir deep thoughts within us about the power of love and the significance of the words spoken by our loved ones.

Overall, this book is all-embracing. It successfully fills the reader's heart with grief and makes us suffer along with Holly. I found myself shedding both tears of joy and grief while reading it. It is a touching tale that showcases the enduring power of love.

Just as the saying goes, "They say that nothing lasts forever, but I am a firm believer in the fact that for some, love lives on even after we're gone."

So badly written that it detracted from the touching and interesting premise.

I read this solely because I saw that a film was being made of it with Gerard Butler (of 300 fame) and wanted to have read the film prior to seeing the film which I am bound to do because it has Gerard Butler (of 300 fame) in it. The book is written by the daughter of the Irish Prime Minister, which is the most interesting thing I can think to say about it. I like myself some chick-lit-lite, but this is ridiculous. The writing was obvious, unsubtle, clichéd and dull. I did not connect with the characters and felt no emotional connection whatsoever with the story or the protagonist. I did not care what happened in the end.

Having said this, I can see why this will be made into a film. The premise is actually not that bad: Widow receives a letter from her dead husband which he wrote before he died along with 11 other instalments to be read monthly to help her bereavement. It actually sounds really naff now I write it… But I honestly think the film will be far superior to the book. I hope so anyway. This does really annoy me though. It seems that to have your novel made into a film, you don’t have to be a good writer. You just have to have a good idea. Seems a bit unfair to me.

Maybe the filmmakers will be able to bring out the true potential of the story that the author failed to capture. They might add more depth to the characters, make the plot more engaging, and enhance the emotional impact. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, I’ll be looking forward to the film and hoping that it lives up to my expectations.

A young married couple, Holly and Gerry, share a lighthearted joke. They say that if anything were to happen to him, he'd have to write her a list; otherwise, she'd struggle to cope without him.

Over time, “The List” expands to include advice for every conceivable situation, becoming a joke that all their friends are in on.

However, their lives take a tragic turn when Gerry's severe headache is diagnosed as brain cancer. In just a few short months, Holly loses him, and she is completely devastated and feels adrift.

Not only has she lost her husband, but she has also lost a part of herself.

Then, a package marked “The List” arrives. Gerry has kept his promise. Inside the package are ten envelopes to be opened over ten months.

Each letter contains specific instructions to help Holly through her grief and ultimately give her the permission she needs to return to life.

And, of course, each letter ends with the words “PS, I Love You.”

The novel features a lively cast of funny and memorable characters. Holly's best friends and four siblings, with personalities ranging from the adventurous pink-haired Ciara to the more conservative Richard, add depth and humor to the story.

Set in Ireland, the book has a charming Irish atmosphere that is reminiscent of the works of Maeve Binchy and Marian Keyes.

“PS, I LOVE YOU” is a warm, witty, heartfelt, and romantic story that explores the themes of family and the enduring nature of true love.

It is a tale that will touch the hearts of readers and leave them with a sense of hope and love.

I read this ages ago in paperback. Back then, this book was truly a huge hype. It seemed like everyone was talking about it. However, the funny thing is that I am not part of that worshipful crowd for this sappy romance. In fact, the protagonist really gets on my nerve most of the time. She is so whiny and self-pitying that I just felt like wanting to give her a good strong kick to help her out of that miserable existence.

I even had the same feeling when I watched the film adaptation of it. Ugh. It was just as annoying.

The only reason why I did eventually finish it was wholly because of the engaging storyline. I do love it when characters go pack a bag and wander off to exciting places, doing things they usually wouldn't dare to do. It gives me a sense of adventure and excitement.

Unfortunately, this book failed to capture my attention. From the very beginning, I found it difficult to engage with the story and the characters. Despite my best efforts, after reading 300 pages, I finally gave up hope that it was going to improve. The plot seemed to be going nowhere, and the writing style was rather平淡无奇. There were no real surprises or twists to keep me on the edge of my seat. I had high expectations for this book, but it simply didn't deliver. It's a shame because I had heard such good things about it. However, sometimes even the most highly recommended books can be a disappointment. Maybe it's just not the right book for me at this time.

I chose this book on a particular day when I was yearning for something distinct from my typical reads of high fantasy, intelligent science fiction, or classic literature. I spent a considerable amount of time carefully looking through the chick-lit shelves (not being a regular enthusiast of this genre, ordinarily). After much deliberation, I finally settled on this book, and I was truly not let down by my choice.

Holly is a widow who witnessed her husband's passing after a long and arduous illness, and she is struggling to come to terms with it. However, her husband had anticipated this and left her some form of assistance in this regard. The book alternates between being heart-wrenchingly sad and uproariously funny, sometimes even within the same paragraph. You will find yourself laughing through your tears or vice versa. It is a sweet, touching, and (generally) not overly sappy or overly angst-ridden story that emphasizes the significance of family and friends during a soul-testing time of loss.

So many years ago, I read this book. To be honest, I can't remember exactly when. For me, it was a 3.5-star read.

Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. The story had its engaging moments that kept me turning the pages. However, there were also some parts that I wasn't overly keen on.

One thing that might have influenced my rating was that Gerry had a similar characteristic to my father. It's strange how such a small detail can have an impact.

But I have to give credit to the author for the last chapter and the epilogue. They were truly outstanding and added that extra half a star to my rating.

I'm really looking forward to reading the sequel. I already have it in ebook form ready at the library. I can't wait to dive into it and see what adventures await.

Read for the second time.

This made me ugly sob, and I had to put it aside every now and again to just breathe.

The story was not only deeply moving but also had its funny and heartwarming moments.

It vividly shows that even after losing a loved one, one can still find the strength to live a good life.

Love truly knows no boundaries, not even in the face of death.

It serves as an important reminder of what really matters in life.

We often get caught up in the琐事 of daily life and forget the significance of love and human connection.

This story brings those values back to the forefront and makes us realize that love is eternal and can overcome all obstacles.

It is a beautiful and powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of love.

Gerry passed away due to brain cancer, leaving Holly with only his precious memories. Before his death, Gerry had promised to write her 'a list', which would ultimately assist her in dealing with his loss. He left the envelopes with Holly's mother, and she collected them after two months. The list contained a specific task for each month of the remaining year.

Holly had left her job because of Gerry's worsening health, and now she found herself trapped in a life without any structure. Most of her time was consumed by daydreaming about Gerry and the wonderful life they had shared together.

As part of one of the tasks on the list, she participated in a Karaoke competition, where she met Daniel and became friends with him. She also went on a holiday with her friends, which Gerry had secretly arranged for her.

Holly then started looking for a job and continued to move forward with her life. Gerry's last letter had told her to find love, and that was precisely what she now intended to do.

While completing those tasks, Holly had the distinct feeling that Gerry was always by her side, watching over and supporting her throughout. The list had provided her with a much-needed direction in life.

Hermoso. Maravilloso. Encantador. Una obra maestra. Reconfortante. Fantástico. Sensacional. Evocando emocionalmente. Cecilia, eres y asombrosa pensadora y escritora.
