Me gustaron mucho los personajes nuevos, espero que la abuela y Winry aparezcan más. Estoy intrigada con quién es el padre de ellos y quién es el padre de los malos

The lore starts to get spicy in this one. Also loved seeing the flame vs fullmetal skit and getting Winry and Pinako on page at long last.

This was a great volume!

As Al and Ed go to their hometown Resembool they meet Winry and her Grandma who took them in after the incident and they fix him up and we see their childhood memories here and them coming home and as they go to find Dr Marcoh's notes in the library and are met with a challenge and they decipher nots on how to make the stone, they find some astonishing things and then they go secretly to someplace but are confronted by two killers - Slicer and Barry the chopper and its gonna be a big challenge for the Elric brothers.

This volume gets us closer to finding the real origins of the philosophers stone and what it really is and I love how they hint it as something thats evil too. I like how Ed and Al grew close to others during this arc and pose some existential questions. And also the new villain designs are cool and some big storyline is coming for sure!

The art just gets better and is very easy on the eyes!

A lot happened in this volume 3 of Fullmetal Alchemist. Ed and Al found some secret of Philosopher's stone - and with it, some philosophy trickled in. The characters ponder on the importance of family

We got a glimpse of Al and Ed's home and previous life, their strong determination and the courage to risk everything, and the secret behind granny's hairstyle.

The storyline here got serious - we see Ed being defeated more and more, being disappointed even more often. Simultaneously we get quotes like - "Being so passionate about something is a talent in itself" and "I kill, therefore I am" (a twisted version of the original "I think, therefore I am" or "Cogito, ergo sum" written by René Descartes the great mathematician and philosopher - told you! It has philosophy). And the philosophy doesn't end there - Al had an existential crisis and Ed started accepting their body as the new normal. And just read this quote made by granny Pinako and tell me if it doesn't sound philosophical -

And because he is so strong, I worry that when he finally does find an obstacle he can't overcome, will he be able to get back on his feet?

The graphics as always are excellent. I wish Hiromu Arakawa shown us more fight scenes between Gluttony and Scar - but I guess it's gonna come later after all.

Overall 4.5 Star

I’m flying through this manga because it’s so addictive. Now I have to wait for the next volumes to come but boy, am I excited to receive them. I loved the different themes covered in Vol 3, especially the question of ‘what makes a human, human?’. Excellent stuff.

MAN oh man I am powering through this series. This is what happens when you buy a 27 volume boxset and also have no self control... you just keep reading lol so brace yourselves for plenty more FMA reviews in the coming days!!

This one was a lot of fun! I seriously love Winry SO MUCH! There was a lot of great stuff in this one, learning more about the Elric brothers and their past. Towards the end we get into some more action which was great. The fight scenes are excellent- easy to follow and exciting. I love seeing alchemy used in combat, it's awesome! Gotta keep reading now because omg that ending!

OK, I'm enjoying this enough that I figure I'll be sticking with it for a while. Looking ahead, I bought volumes 4-6 in a single, combined volume. LoL

Perfect stuff for a break from work grind.... Not light reading in the happiness and joy category, and surprisingly heavy going in parts, but perfect for a break from the drudgery of the computer screen.

Okay, this is a slight improvement. We discover that the brothers are not the all-powerful alchemists they seemed to be. There are at least two groups that appear able to dominate the boys. This lends a little risk to proceedings, which is good.

Chapter Nine is where Fullmetal Alchemist finally fully clicked for me. Before, I was like, "yay, it's fun, it has a good premise" and that sort of basic thing. But chapter nine, where Ed, Al, and Armstrong go back to the Elric brother's village to repair the two brothers, absolutely made me smile and laugh and just enjoy the characters for being who they are.

Following chapter nine, the plot continues smoothly. Whereas a lot of manga books I have read feel slightly disjointed between volumes and chapters, here I get a lot of really interesting and exciting new revelations and advancements of plot. Ultimately, this volume contains moments to make me smile, laugh, stare in interest at the plot twist, and flip pages hurriedly to get to the end of the action.

Edward, Al, and Armstrong are on their way to the boys' hometown so Ed's auto-mail can be repaired after his arm was destroyed in the fight with Scar. I enjoyed this lull in the tense drama of the series. Their hometown is isolated and idyllic. Pinako and Winry helped them after they dabbled into forbidden alchemy, and it's obvious that there is a great deal of affection between all of them. These chapters are also a great opportunity to catch your breath, because the rest of the volume is one shocking revelation after another, followed by lengthy fight sequences.

When they arrive in Central, they learn that the branch of the library containing Marcoh's notes has just been burned to the ground. Thinking that their quest has ended before it began, they are ecstatic to learn that a formed library employee can help them out. With a copy of the notes firmly in hand, they make another unpleasant discovery; the price of making a philosopher's stone is far to high for them to pay. But someone else has been willing to pay the price, and they are determined to learn how high up in the government the knowledge of this research goes.

Again, Ed and Al are forced to admit that some prices are just too high to pay. Because the boys are decent and good, the thought of making the Philosopher's Stone is now repugnant. Even though Ed has the ability and skill to follow Marcoh's research notes, he can't do it. The price is too high. And that is the other thing I love about this series. Even though Ed and Al won't pay the price to get what they want most in the world, their original bodies back, there are plenty of other individuals in this story that are more than willing to pay whatever it costs to cheat the system. When Ed and Al are placed on a collision course with them, all hell breaks out. I guess the question for me right now is will they be able to keep true to their moral compass, or will they be swayed to do otherwise? I think I've read half of this series, so I'm looking forward to finally finishing it.
