In 2013, when I read this: "who the fuck are the Beatles", I had no idea about the significance and influence of this iconic band.

Little did I know that as the years passed, my perspective would change drastically.

In 2021, I find myself kicking myself across the jaw for my past ignorance.

The Beatles have become an integral part of music history, their songs and style influencing countless artists and shaping the landscape of popular music.

Looking back, I realize how much I missed out on by not appreciating them earlier.

Now, I am making up for lost time, delving into their discography and trying to understand the magic that made them so beloved.

I can only hope that others will not make the same mistake I did and will discover the beauty and genius of The Beatles sooner rather than later.

Archie Americana Series: Best of the Sixties is a remarkable collection that gathers a diverse sampling of Archie stories from that highly turbulent decade.

I'll make this review relatively short. I purchased this collection during one of the numerous sales that Archie had in 2020. The very first and the last stories within it were actually ones that I had read in the Archie 80th Anniversary Digest just last week.

Regarding the content in the middle, it's the typical, standard Archie fare that fans have come to know and love. I do wish that the artists were properly credited. However, it's evident that it's the work of the usual suspects such as Sam Schwartz, Bill Vigoda, Dan DeCarlo, and the rest of the talented gang. Their contributions have helped to shape the beloved Archie universe over the years.

Overall, this collection offers a nostalgic trip back to the Sixties and is a must-have for any Archie enthusiast.

This is the first book in the Archie Americana series that I truly liked!

The plotlines for the 60s comics were far more interesting and significantly less repetitive compared to the Archie comics of the 40s and 50s.

During the 60s, the Archie comics seemed to have taken a more creative turn. The storylines were filled with new and exciting adventures that kept me engaged from start to finish. There was a freshness and vitality to the plots that was lacking in the earlier decades.

Unlike the 40s and 50s, where some of the storylines felt a bit stale and recycled, the 60s Archie comics brought a breath of fresh air. The characters were more developed, and their relationships were explored in more depth. This made the reading experience much more enjoyable and fulfilling.

In conclusion, I am really glad that I discovered this particular book in the Archie Americana series. It has shown me that the Archie comics had their golden era in the 60s, and I can't wait to explore more of these wonderful comics from that time period.

This was read as a palate cleanser after attempting to sit through twenty minutes of Netflix' latest adaptation of the ARCHIES.

It was a much-needed break from the rather underwhelming experience of trying to endure that particular show.

The reading material served its purpose admirably, refreshing the mind and providing a welcome diversion.

It allowed one to forget, at least for a little while, the disappointment of the Netflix adaptation and focus on something more engaging and enjoyable.

Whether it was a captivating story, thought-provoking article, or simply some light-hearted entertainment, it did its job of cleansing the palate and leaving one with a more positive state of mind.

It goes to show that sometimes, a simple read can have a profound impact on our mood and perception, especially when compared to the less-than-stellar offerings of the entertainment world.

Fun if dated romp through the swinging 60s as Archie and the gang caught all the fads of that crazy era.

Back in the 60s, Archie and his friends were right in the middle of the action, experiencing all the latest trends and fads. It was a wild and exciting time, filled with new music, fashion, and social changes.

The art in these comics has come a long way since the 40s and 50s. While it has improved, it still doesn't quite reach the level of the later artists. However, this doesn't take away from the charm and entertainment value of the comics.

Despite being a bit dated, the adventures of Archie and the gang are still fun to read and offer a glimpse into a bygone era. It's interesting to see how they adapted to the changing times and how their relationships evolved.

Overall, these comics are a great way to relive the swinging 60s and enjoy some lighthearted entertainment.

Archie can be extremely corny.

Occasionally, it reaches a point where it's almost too much to endure. However, there are also times when it manages to be endearing.

The first "Best of the Sixties" volume takes this corniness to a new level compared to the fifties volume, which was already starting to lean in that direction.

This volume is filled with "topical" sketches. For instance, what if Archie wore skinny jeans? What if Jughead was a hippie? Or what if everyone in Riverdale was a hippie?

It's all about different variations of "a new trend comes to Riverdale." There's significantly less of the character-driven silliness and occasional absurdity that was present in the last two books.

Let's face it, this isn't high art. It's just a "best of Archie" digest. But still, I can't help but feel that this particular volume was a bit of a letdown.

Maybe it's because I was expecting more of the unique charm and humor that made the previous volumes so enjoyable.

Nonetheless, it still has its moments and will likely appeal to die-hard Archie fans.

But for those looking for something truly outstanding, this might not quite hit the mark.
