Less than 100 pages, this short book is truly a good read. It was written in 2005, and the issues that Michael Lewis addresses regarding parental involvement in youth sports and the need for students to take accountability for their own choices have likely only deteriorated over time. It makes one wonder if Lewis has written any recent follow-ups on this subject. It would be interesting to know if he has further explored and updated these ideas. Note: I may also be interested in reading "Home Game: An Accidental Guide to Fatherhood" which was published in 2010. This book might offer additional insights and perspectives on the role of fathers and family life. Overall, the work of Michael Lewis seems to be both thought-provoking and relevant, and it would be great to see what he has to say in his more recent writings.
A short read that brings back to our attention the significance of coaches and role models in our lives overall. Especially when we are children developing our character, their influence is crucial. They guide us, inspire us, and show us the right path. But it doesn't stop there. Later on, as we are pursuing our careers, they continue to play an important role. They can offer advice, share their experiences, and help us overcome obstacles. Coaches and role models are like beacons in the darkness, lighting up our way and helping us reach our goals. So let's go back to good ethics, hard work, and perseverance. Let's learn from those who have come before us and use their examples to shape our own lives.
