It is very difficult to rate this book. One of the things that alarmed me the most was the fact that I had read the revised edition (??). How to begin?
She had the nerve to say that a black man had the “belief” of racism towards himself, racism is not a belief, it is a FACT, people suffer from racism, it is not in their head, it is from real life, caused by a society.
The other tragic session (can I call it a session?), she talked to a woman who has experienced CHILD ABUSE, she had that person find something good, actually “amazing” about her father, the abuser, to hold on to. Saying that she was abusing herself in her mind, by thoughts of her (??) Again she had the nerve to say that everyone has some good in them, even a child abuser, even Hitler, yes, even him.

Then I rest my case. Go read another book, that's a BIG NO!

I love this book so much. It's a spiritual / non-duality / self help book - think like Eckhart Tolle maybe - but more practically applied to everyday life. This is my second time listening to the audio book and I'm still blown away by many of the ideas. Here are my thoughts:

1. I think this is her best book I have read and would recommend anyone interested in her philosophy / teachings to start with this book.

2. When looking at the 1-star reviews, I want to argue with their reviews, which is a little ironic as that is the antithesis of the philosophy of this book (to not argue with reality). They miss the point of what Byron is trying to say. I do have to say, though - some of the ideas in here are pretty radical and not many people may be ready to hear it - though if you are ready to hear it, it can be transform your life. A 1-star review I just read said that if enough people followed Byron Katie, we would still have slavery and there would be no civil rights movement. I want to do my best Byron Katie impression and say "can you know that is true?" Her teachings aren't just to be apathetic - it's to not argue with reality.

3. The title is so perfect. Loving what is. I describe her teachings as kind of like the Serenity Prayer (you know, Accept that which we cannot change, etc.) x 1000. She talks about the three kinds of business (yours, other people's, and gods) and to stay in your own business (which doesn't always equal apathy). She also talks about how you can not really know that anything is true. Like I know this is a dumb example, but you might support LGBT rights (I do) and find out Chic-Fil-A spends their money fighting LGBT rights. I could get mad at Chic-Fil-A, but where they spend their money is their business. Where I spend my money is my business (and it won't be at Chic-Fil-A). What I do with my time is my business, too - so maybe I want to spend my time outside of Chic-Fil-A with a picket sign encouraging people to go elsewhere - but I'll do it with joy and love in my heart. Just an example.

I know I didn't do this book justice - but I love it so much. If any 1-star people want to comment, I would love to be able to reply. I don't want to troll the 1-star reviews though.

It took a while to warm up then I started to feel the approach more with some of the examples. But then they went on and one and the examples all blended into each other. A bit ambivalwent about this one - 3 stars.
