Sherrilyn Kenyon never disappoints. I really loved this book and couldn't put it down! Lots of homour, action, romance, and more laughter!! I just loved it. I absolutely love all the dark hunters. And Talon is one hell of a sexy Celt. If you're looking for a book with a lot of action, mythology, mystery, dark, sexy, troubled heroes, with a good romance, then any Dark Hunter novel will do. The whole series is exceptional!

He who lets fear rule him, has fear for a master.

Night Embrace is the third installment I’ve read in the Dark Hunter series. It’s fun, fast paced and filled with exciting characters. I will admit after reading three books in this series that it’s starting to remind me of JR Ward’s BDB series with eternal creatures that roam the night protecting humans from vampire baddies. Their ultimate leader is a fearless woman, their demise will lead them to Shadedom… yes, quite a bit of similarities coupled with predictable events that for some reason keeps me entertained and sort of hooked.

In Night Embrace we meet Talon and Sunshine (yes, I giggled too when I read her name). Talon has spent the last fifteen hundred years standing between mankind and those who would see them destroyed. He is a Guardian, a Soulless Keeper, neither human, nor Apollite. He exists between the realm of the living and beyond the realm of the dead. As a Dark Hunter, he is eternal unless he finds that one pure heart who will never betray him and free him from his bond to Acheron and Artemis.

I really enjoyed the characters. They are strong and actually quite funny. Some of the stuff that comes out of their mouth actually had me laughing out loud in humorous disbelief. There were a few steamy scenes that had me wondering… is that really possible without getting hurt or burning your leg on the exhaust pipe? Really?? But overall, I have no real complaints. I liked it, what can I say??

All in all, it was fun and exciting. I’ll keep reading these as I like the mythology, the back-story of the Dark Hunters and I’m curious about a few of the characters and their ultimate fate including Vane and Ceara. Good installment to this series!

Questa seconda rilettura mi ha permesso di apprezzare molto di più la storia e i protagonisti. Specifico che non arriva al livello dei miei preferiti, ma devo ammettere che ci si avvicina davvero un sacco.
➽ La trama di questo terzo romanzo inizia il lettore a quella che è l'ingarbugliata trama generale, spiegando alcune cose dell'enorme lore della serie. Dopo la breve spiegazione sui Were Hunters e i Dream Hunters avvenuta in  Notte di piaceri, tra queste pagine si fa la conoscenza dei Cacciatori mannari che ci accompagneranno anche in alcuni dei prossimi romanzi: i guerrieri Katagaria, con una breve menzione dei loro nemici mortali, ovvero gli Arcadici. Viene anche confermata la presenza di più pantheon le cui divinità sono perfettamente in grado di interagire tra di loro, oltre alle importantissime (anche se misere) informazioni su Atlantide. Ammetto che rileggere certe scene sapendo la verità mi ha fatta ridere non poco per l'ironia di alcune situazioni.
Ma parliamo un attimo più nel dettaglio della trama:
- Dioniso investe Talon con un carro allegorico di Bacco per il Mardi Gras (che però non è minimamente in grado di guidare);
- Talon con l'asciugamano rosa;
- Starla e Sunshine;
- i battibecchi tra Camulo, Dioniso e Artemide;
- Eros ubriaco vestito da Cupido la notte del Mardi Gras;
- Talon con l'asciugamano rosa;
- il primo incontro con Valerius e l'arrivo si Zarek;
- l'incontro con Vane e Fang e l'arrivo del loro branco di lupi Katagaria proprio a ridosso del Mardi Gras in una città dove vivono ben tre gruppi di Arcadici;
- TALON CON L'ASCIUGAMANO ROSA.
E in mezzo a tutto questo casino, Ash deve:
- tenere Kyr e Jules all'oscuro dell'arrivo di Val;
- tenere Zak lontano da Val;
- impedire a Zak di fare qualche casino che possa far infuriare nuovamente Artemide;
- impedire a Tal di fare qualche cavolata con Sunny. Almeno trova il tempo di sfotterlo amabilmente dopo aver saputo dell'asciugamano da Kyr. Cosa che in realtà ormai sanno tutti nel mondo dei Dark Hunter, visto che Kyr lo ha postato sul sito www.dark-hunter.com (adoro, credo che rimanga una delle scene più esilaranti che abbia mai letto in vita mia).
Cioè, PARLIAMONE.
➽ I personaggi sono semplicemente eccezionali per via della loro ironia e profondità nonostante tutto il dolore che, in un certo senso, li accomuna. Come dicevo sopra tra queste pagine succedono davvero un sacco di cose a livello di trama generale, perché l'entrata in scena di alcuni non è affatto casuale.
★ Talon dei Morriganti è un irriverente guerriero celtico i cui poteri sono collegati alla sua calma interiore. Per questo motivo è famoso tra i suoi confratelli per essere sempre estremamente tranquillo e pacato, nonostante abbia anche la fama di avere l'ormone letteralmente impazzito. Com'era stato accennato nel romanzo precedente tramite la famosa maglietta con su scritto “vedo la gente morta”, Tally è in grado di parlare con lo spirito della sua sorellina Ceara. Estremamente leale e generalmente affidabile, non permette a nessuno di avvicinarsi a causa della maledizione del dio celtico Camulo.
Tal non è mai stato sul podio dei miei personaggi preferiti, tuttavia è tra quelli a cui sono più affezionata. Il fatto che questo sia uno dei romanzi più divertenti della serie mi fa amare questi personaggi ancora di più.
★ Sunshine Runningwolf è una sbadatissima artista con la testa perennemente tra le nuvole. Come tutti gli artisti, vive la vita con una vivacità e una passione invidiabili, in netto contrasto con il carattere pacato di Tal. Ha un cuore talmente grande che è praticamente un miracolo che non le sia mai successo nulla di male in una città come New Orleans. La sua famiglia è estremamente particolare, ma non voglio rovinare la sorpresa visto che il terzo capitolo è tra i più esilaranti dell'intero romano grazie alla presenza della madre, Starla.
Nonostante la situazione in cui suo malgrado si ritrova, dimostra un coraggio e un'audacia non da poco, facendomela apprezzare tantissimo.
★ Acheron in questo romanzo ha davvero il suo bel daffare. Nonostante il suo romanzo sia il quindicesimo della serie, vengono centellinate svariate informazioni su di lui in alcuni romanzi, in particolare in questo, ne  L'eternità della notte e in  Anche i diavoli piangono, che ritengo essere quelli con le informazioni più importanti prima del suo.
★ Nick Gautier è semplicemente eccezionale. Sono letteralmente innamorata di lui e sento già la sua mancanza, soprattutto sapendo che non sarà presente nei prossimi due romanzi.
★ Zarek di Mesia è lo psyco-ass del mio cuore. Al di là che conosco già la sua storia, ciò che si legge in queste pagine ha fatto breccia fin da subito in molti cuori, non solo nel mio. Come ex schiavo romano ciò che si apprende su di lui non è la punta dell'iceberg, di meno. L'immagine che mostra non è esattamente una facciata, tuttavia non è nemmeno lo psicostronzo che tutti pensano. Alla fine lui attacca prima di essere attaccato dagli altri perché, proprio in quanto ex schiavo, è tra i pochi DH a non conoscere il significato della parola “amore”. La scena in cui chiede a Sunny perché ama Tal mi strazia il cuore, così come il fatto che, alla fin fine, viene mandato come rinforzo a New Orleans per far fronte all'enorme numero di Daimon che colpiscono ogni anno durante il Mardi Gras con il solo scopo, da parte di Artemide almeno, di avere una qualsiasi scusa per condannarlo a morte. La sua espressione piena di dolore nel pensare ad una città così piena di vita rispetto a Fairbanks, il luogo in cui è stato mandato in isolamento negli ultimi 900 anni, mi strazia. Tutto ciò che lo riguarda mi strazia. Per questo Zak è uno dei miei Fantastici Quattro. ❤
★ Valerius Magno è il nuovo DH di New Orleans, colui che è stato mandato da Artemide per prendere il posto di  Kyrian di Tracia. Inutile dire che il romano non riscuote molto successo tra i suoi colleghi, soprattutto i greci. Come se non bastasse, è il nemico mortale proprio di Kyr (e quindi di Julian) e di Zak. Nonostante sia odiato per colpe non sue, credo che rimanga uno dei personaggi più belli dell'intera serie (nonché un altro dei miei Fantastici Quattro ❤). Anche lui, esattamente come Zak, si protegge dietro un atteggiamento estremamente odioso e altezzoso, adottando lo stesso metodo di “colpisci prima che loro colpiscano te”. Poverino, in questo romanzo mi fa parecchia pena.
★ Vane e Fang Kattalakis sono due lupi Katagaria che si ritroveranno, loro malgrado, invischiati nella follia di questo particolare Mardi Gras. Impossibilitati a spostare il branco a causa di ben cinque femmine in procinto di partorire e una che ha partorito da poco, i due fratelli sono ben felici di aiutare i nostri a sterminare un po' di Daimon. Estremamente ironici, questo è solo l'inizio della loro storia.
★ Il clan Peltier è la famiglia di orsi Arcadici che gestisce il Sanctuary, ovvero un Rifugio per chiunque ne abbia bisogno, mascherato da bar per motociclisti. Siccome all'interno del Sanctuary può entrare qualsiasi tipo di creatura, che siano essi Cacciatori oscuri o mannari, dèi, Apollinei e umani, la politica dei Peltier è semplice: niente risse e niente omicidi, altrimenti il trasgressore se la dovrà vedere non solo con gli orsi, ma anche con gli altri mutaforma dello staff, e non sarebbe un'esperienza piacevole.
Onestamente mi confondo ancora quando penso ai Peltier: diamine, questa famiglia è persino più numerosa delle Devereaux e già faccio fatica a ricordare loro che sono solo in nove, figuriamoci i ben quattordici orsi figli di Nicolette e Aubert Peltier. Gli unici che ricorderò mai saranno solo Dev ed Aimee (per ovvie ragioni).
➽ Vorrei dire qualcosa in più sul world building della serie e sullo stile, ma dopo tutte queste recensioni rischierei di diventare ripetitiva.
➽ In conclusione vorrei solo aggiungere la solita lamentela sulla traduzione (ormai in questa serie è praticamente una costante). Benché non siamo ancora ai livelli “sfacelo totale”, ripetete con me: i nomi propri di persona non vanno tradotti per nessun motivo.

HOOKED! This book was better than the first and the last few chapters... GEESH! I cannot wait for more of these stories! Zarek's and Ash'a stories will be amazing, I can't wait!

I am sad I didn't see a lot of Amanda and Kyrain, but maybe they will come out more in the future books! Love Nick, and now there are Bears and Wolves... bam!

Love, pain, loss, blessings, death, reunion, sacrifice, torture, happiness, parenthood, responsibility, darkness, evil, honor, goodness, determination, and redemption are just an itsy-bitsy list of the themes with which Night Embrace is gonna rock your world. You're gonna laugh, you're gonna cry, you're gonna face-scream and applause pretty much throughout the entirety of this awesome behemoth. Put simply, Bilbo had it right - this book's gonna adventure you so hardcore. And, this loveliness starts, of course, with Talon of the Morrigantes.



Basically, he's the epitome of a bad-ass. A Celtic bad-ass, even. However, in my not so important opinion, while I adore Talon (because c'mon, how could you not?) I find his back-story, while heart breaking, less so in comparison to other tragic Dark-Hunter stories. Mind you, this could be my being a picky-ass, but Talon's personal tragedies were often brought about by his own choices. These choices, and while understandable, put a distance in my adoration of him. I fully admit, though, that my wanting to slap him upside the head with a crowbar, on occasion, did contribute to making him a fleshed out character.



(*Grins.*) Joking aside, Talon is unique among the DH boys for, while scrumptious and tortured, he frequently allows his emotions to get the better of him, thus making him seem more human than any other Dark-Hunter. I like Tally, but there exists an element that makes me want to throttle him right before I hug him. Still, while bodaciously adorable and likeable, it's Talon's sense of humor that wins him All Of The Loves. His dynamic with Nick, Acheron, fellow Dark-Hunters, hell, even with frenemies like Zarek, will undoubtedly leave your face muscles aching from laughter. Of course, speaking of laughter, we can't neglect Sunshine Runningwolf.



Yep. I admit it; I totally love her with much love. Of all the heroines that could be written, she is the single most memorable. Without question this girl struts on the page with bucket-loads of personality that grab you be the shirt and ask, "Who IS this chick?" A flibbertigibbet artist who is unquestionably a refugee from a hippie camp, what makes Sunny so adorable is, yes, her forgetfulness, yes, her love of life, but most importantly her heart. While Talon is her antithesis in the small things, the two share a kindness for others that is remarkable, and down right adorable.



Oh, by the way, did I mention the plot?! Holy-crap-stick, THE PLOT! This baby comes in at a whopping 408 pages, and that's a bit long for a standard mass market paperback, but trust that this sucker doesn't lag. We've got pissed off gods, renegade Dark-Hunters, an "let's-avoid-the-apocalypse" story line, not to mention a most excellent cast of supporting characters. Interestingly, while the plot does take a backseat to the romantic buildup and relationship of Talon and Sunshine (we'll get to that in a minute, friends), when this sucker arrives for the climax, it busts onto the scene with TNT. The surrounding plot threads make this book unquestionably fun, mind-blowing, and definitely worth the read. As for the actual romance between Talon and Sunshine? Well...



I know, I know! (*Ducks behind couch to avoid the rotten tomatoes.*) Sadly, I'm not really in the Fangirl Camp for these two awesome characters. Oh, don't get me wrong, I love them as characters, and while I do believe the HEA at the end, I never really felt the connectivity between them as their story was unfolding. I think this stems largely from the soul mate aspect (you'll see when you read), but because of this it made their romance difficult for me. I still heart them, I did love the book, and I enjoyed Talon and Sunshine interacting, but as for the love-story itself? Gotta say no. The book kicks copious ass, even outside the lovey-dovey element, if for no other reason than climax, the supporting cast, and the universe around Talon and Sunshine. These elements make this book so frakking good.



You request it, Night Embrace, and you damned sure get it.

So, these were supposed to be filler books - OMFG, who am I kidding!!!

So far this is my favourite. Talon & Sunshine were not only HOT but OMG sooo funny. There were times I was laughing out loud, it was brilliant. Sunshine just had the best lines!

One of my favourite lines from Sunshines was:

"His black leather pants cupped a butt so fine that it should be stamped with Grade A Prime on each cheek"

As well as laughing a lot I cried a lot of tears, especially towards the end .....


I enjoyed the fact the Talon & Sunshine were soul-mates and enjoyed reading the back story of Talon *so sad*. I really struggled to put this book down and was completely knackered when I was finishing by staying up so late to finish it.


I have to say after reading Talon's book I'm so excited to read about Zarek and also Ash, Zarek just reminds me so much of Zsadist and you know how I feel about him!

I love the BDB books more than life itself but these books (along with Demonica) are running very close behind and I'm glad I have oh so many yet to go.

I read this book years ago, I don't remember too much about the story, but I'm sure I didn't like me a lot. This is not my favorite of the whole saga. I wouldn't like to re-read it.

So the Story/Plot line was amazing...... I need Acheron's story..... What an ending!!!!!



Sunshine i had to admit was beyond annoying... But Talon was happy so all good!!!!

Talon the Celtic Dark hunter warrior, gets hit by a Mardi Float and is taken home by no other than the artist Sunshine who happened to cross paths with him in another life, while these two get to know each other better poor Acheron (Big Boss dark hunter) is trying to herd all other dark hunters like a shepherd trying to find and control a bunch of drunk unicorns.....



But the plot thickens because behind all this calculated chaos is a real look at the villains our boys are up against, and what wicked plans they have.

But yea a great 5 star read as the world the author has created expands, and get a look at all different characters that may make an appearance in the future.

Enjoyed this book.
