I liked the previous two books in this series, but with this one I was n0t feeling it.
The first 15% were like...


...and the next 5%...


...annnnnnnnd stayed for pretty much the rest of the book like this...

Talon or Speirr of the Morrigantes (Hunter) & Sunshine Runningwolf (Human)

Why Talon become a dark hunter: Tragic story and a combination of many things.
At age 7 his parents died and he and his infant sister Caera were thrown out of their Druid tribe.
Later his uncle was murdered and his aunt was raped and murdered, his wife Nynia died in childbirth and their son was stillborn.
And finally his clan killed his beloved little sister in front of him. And then he was killed.
Naturally, he came back for revenge.

Sunshine: A vegan artist who is drowning in pink and purple flowers everywhere in her home. She will seduce Talon with amusement and joy.

One thing I loved: Talon lives in a shack on a bayou surrounded by his two pet alligators.

Settings: New Orleans, Louisiana

The dialoges of the book are actually quite funny and made me laugh out loud. There are many MANY steamy scenes. The story overall was fun and exciting.

Favourite quote: Something was different about Sunshine.
He couldn't count how many centuries had passed since he had last shared a real laugh with a lover.
And this woman made him laugh. She made him crazy.
Best of all, she made him burn.
Sunshine had stumbled into his world and turned it upside down.
She'd touched the emotions he'd buried long ago. Made him feel strangely alive again, which for a man who had died fifteen hundred years ago was quite a fit.

NIGHT EMBRACE is the second book in the Dark Hunters series and I have to say that it is definitely my favorite so far! I usually have a problem with Kenyon’s tendency to overdramaticize, but for this book, I don’t think she pulled anything crazy or over the top.

As always, the hero is a tortured soul. Talon has lost something that he holds dear. But he doesn’t allow it to run his life now. I loved Talon’s lighthearted attitude. He was fun, flirty and soo damn sexy. The first part of this book has lots of sex in it (not that I’m complaining) so Kenyon really established Talon as the ultimate sex warrior. She even comes up with some very interesting positions. I’ll make note of those, thank you very much.

Another great thing about this series is Sunshine. She really sparkled in this book. I loved her quirky ways and her unique spirit. She compliments Talon well and I loved that they were so willing to give up their world for each other.

With a strong romance and an even stronger camaraderie between the Dark Hunters, I can say I’m very excited to see what’s in store for Zarek!

No sé si se debe a que la habilidad de la autora para crear emociones en el lector ha ido decayendo de una novela a otra, o si finalmente, uno se termina acostumbrando al estilo y argumento de los libros de esta serie, pero encuentro que esta entrega es bastante más plana que las anteriores. La historia de amor que se presenta en El Abrazo de la Noche no me logró enganchar ni por el lado sentimental ni por el lado erótico (que es, por cierto, el fuerte de estas novelas), sin mencionar que la línea argumental es prácticamente igual a la del libro inmediatamente anterior, Placeres de la noche.

Donde vuelve a ganar es en la profundización del entorno mítico y sobrenatural que sustenta los relatos: entran en acción nuevos "seres" y se logra ahondar un poco más en la sugestiva figura de Aquerón, líder de los Cazadores Oscuros, quien, como dice el dicho, en esta entrega se roba la película.

De todas maneras me gustó y la disfruté, sigue siendo una novela entretenida, que se deja leer muy rápido.

Le iba a dar 4 pero al final pasaron tantas cosas que le voy a subir medio puntín así que 4'5 y ya estoy ENGANCHADÍSIMA a esta serie oficialmente.

Esta serie me tiene enganchadisima, y después de Fever de KMM no sé cómo me meto a leer una saga río con más novelas que las que tiene Carrie Bradshaw en su pisito de soltera.

Este libro empieza muy bien -lo que me pude reír con la Fabio Alert y las ocurrencias de Sunshine-, pero el desarrollo de la historia de amor entre los protagonistas se parece mucho al del libro anterior, pero con más vueltas sobre lo mismo, lo que llega a ser un poco pesado. Y el que haya tantos rubios venidos de la Antigua Grecia y alrededores, también.

Dejando de lado eso, se trata de un libro bastante entretenido, en el que Kenyon da entrada a tal cantidad de personajes que estoy que vivo sin vivir en mi de la emoción de leer su correspondiente historia. Destaco a Zarek, que me recuerda a Zsadist de la Hermandad de la daga negra, no me digáis que no, y a Vane, al que tengo muchas ganas tras leer que ocupa el primer puesto en el Top Maromos de Neus https://youtu.be/kMsF4A2JlS4

De todas maneras, me pasa lo que a Kim http://bit.ly/2oi4RxX, a mí quién me intriga de verdad es Acheron, pero faltan tanto libros para llegar a él... Kenyon, eres mala.

Surgeon General's Warning: Sex at first sight might break the hearts of readers who appreciate it less than Lust-But-Not-Touchy-Touch-Because-We-Got-Interrupted at first sight.

The Devil's Advocate: New Orleans during the Mardi Gras, Sunshine is lovable in a bat crazy kind of way, the characters from the previous books and the ones to follow.

Take it or leave it? : Considering that it was better than the previous two, I guess it must be true that the series becomes better as it progresses.

sunshine was different than the other characters and i like that but i found her annoying, i felt like the author was trying hard to show us she’s different. i felt like this book had too much smut. don’t get me wrong i like smut, love it even but i felt like it was too much. these books are so slow burn and never have any build up.

Night Embrace has a perfect and smoothly-built storyline. It is not only a pretty frame story for the romance, but a vibrant, thrilling action line with powerful and serious antagonists, a grandiose conspiracy, mystery, surprising twists, and important and significant secondary characters.

Talon’s backstory is unique, well-developed, and heartbreaking. It is filled with love, revenge, fate, sorrow, intrigue, and myth mixing with history. It's only a plus that he is stunning inside and out, he is naughty and amusing.

Sunshine’s heritage and family is extraordinary. I love her mother, she is so cool!

In Night Embrace Ms. Kenyon reveals intriguing crumbs of information about the Dark-Hunterverse, about its characters and myth, making you eager to know more about it.

I am rereading the series and decided to try this one again. Happy I did. I was more patient with Sunshine (still don't like her that much) and ended up enjoying the story! It is certainly not going to be one of my favorites, but it was important to the overall plot.

The heroine is such an annoying TSTL waste of air that she makes me want to commit a violent crime! Preferably against her!

The hero is a disgusting man slut. So, so gross. But crazy enough I could have handled him. But her..no fucking way could I tolerate another second of her!

Moving on to next one because it looks better.

Gah! I couldn't wait to finish this book.

It was annoying, the characters had no chemistry and I skimmed 'till the end.
One good thing, though, is that it made me curious about Zarek. So I'm not giving up on this series yet :D
