Beautiful volume!

I really really loved seeing Edward and Al experience seeing life come into the world and their joy in knowing a new life would be born. I thought it extremely touching and love how Edward and Al’s teacher reminded them to be proud of their lives because that’s how they came into the world too. Wonderful and moving message with lots of humor (and panic) woven in through all those scenes!

The opening chapter was SO fun to read and thought it really awesome that Winry came with them on this new adventure! It was amazing seeing so many people having auto-mail and it truly being a norm in Rush Valley!

Another fun part of this volume is meeting Edward and Al’s teacher!! She is AWESOME! I don’t know what I expected when meeting her, but she is totally cooler then anything I thought she might be! My heart did go out to her though as Edward and Al were sharing about seeing a baby born and asking her one specific question that leads me to believe she has experienced much pain in the past. *sobs*

And speaking of pain, we are seeing the beginning story of what led Edward and Al to where they are and I can already feel that I’m not ready. Also totally with Edward and Al that I DON’T like their Dad already!! I know he is on one of the hardback covers and I’m already not looking forward to seeing him. LOL!

Another fantastic volume!!

Oh! I’m also glad to get the watch reference for the first time!! That was so cool!! Even though that was a lot sadder then I thought it would be!

"I'm going to kick her butt!...I'm not sexist!" Oh Ed. I just love you. This series is just phenomenal in so many ways.

We got some good backstory and character development in this volume! I enjoyed the slower pace for a change, but am eager to see where the plot goes moving forward.

“As much as I love automail, I pray for the day when this business won’t be prosperous.”
One thing we can talk about here is how war breeds innovation in technology. It’s one big thing we learn about in history class. But what’s fascinating is the focus here on what is essentially healthcare. We could talk about weaponry, the digital boom, transportation, etc. But the focus here is prosthetics. I think it’s a sweet perspective to address. And does bring up this…dichotomy? I don’t think that’s the word. Automail is a beautiful thing, it can be incredible to study and to build and to see how it can be used. But in a perfect world, the industry wouldn’t be nearly as huge. In this world, it’s due to war and conflict. And I suppose mechanics carry this guilt with them when they work. That they require pain and suffering to be able to see the results of their passions. Although it’s not a direct correlation, it still…sucks. But it’s nice to see an almost positive outlook on the constant chaos throughout the country.

And here we are introduced to another character whom I ADORE, Paninya! Who steals Ed’s silver watch, kickstarting a high action and comedic chase! I’m a big fan of Ed’s threatening “I’m not SEXIST!” line, he’ll throw hands with anyone, gender be damned.

Ch18
I love reading Winry’s little rambles and being able to understand them more now. I do think part of the reason why I’m studying mechanical engineering is because of her.

A small bit of existentialism from Mrs lecourt, but not about death. About the beginning of life. Again, there are conversations from before turned on their heads, turning dread into hope and death into life.

GREAT again! I love the art and the characters so much! Some of the little ongoing jokes are so adorable and funny- Edward raging when he gets called short and Alphonse with his list of things he wants to do when he is no longer a suit of armour. God I love this series!
