Thief with the automails for legs is so damn annoying, also I'm dreading any flashbacks of human transmutation :( it's so unsettling to see and read.

This volume's character gushing is devoted to Winry Rockbell.

Oh, Winry. Girl-next-door, wench with a wrench, childhood friend to the Elric brothers, and blushing love interest for Edward...if only either of them would admit to it. A dedicated automail mechanic, in the tradition of her grandmother, Pinako, and inclined to minor medical treatment in homage to her doctor parents.

Having had her own share of tragedies, she remains positive and cheerful, caring and sensitive, and quick with a wrench to the skull if you dare cross her the wrong way. What's not to love? Sure, she almost shot somebody once, but she got over the impulse.

I went by this vol. Very fast I forgot to write my review here.

In this book Winry is set on learning more about making bio-auto arms and legs (ignore the naming) Such an amazing development, rarely found in shounen jump if u ask me.

When she opens Ed’s pocket watch she immediately realize that’s wrong and later tells Ed that she opened it and cried, I feel so much relieved that she talked to Ed and still October 3rd is the day that they burned their house right???

Anyhow we move on when Ed n Al leave Winry to be an apprentice in Rush Valley and they move to meet their teacher which is amazing.. cuz she’s not someone easy, she has a past that I am drying to know about.

About Ed and Al’s past I cried a little bit, it’s my hormones I guess, when their mom died, when their mom was their biggest support when they learned alchemy… their past is just…my heart

winry rockbell my beloved

I'm kind of bothered by "birth" episodes in TV series and anime and manga and so forth. And I'm even more bothered by the fact that Winry delivers the baby - at least it's explained that her parents were doctors and that she read her books, so it's not *entirely* out of the realm of possibility that she might know a few things, but the idea rubs me the wrong way even so.

Aside from that, I loved how Edward wrecked a whole town while chasing a thief - then had to fix it. I don't think I've often seen Western superheroes go, "Oh, right, well, time to rebuild this place while we're at it" after they kick ass. And it's really nice, seeing Edward and Alphonse's old alchemy teacher and their flashbacks about training.

Me está gustando mucho esta historia!

Mi corazón sufre por Al y Ed. Su maestra es lo más jajaja. Creo que lo que más le valoro a esta historia es que tiene personajes muy buenos.

Izumi gets a lot more page time for characterization than in Brotherhood, and we're seeing flashbacks to Ed and Al's childhood in a lot more detail too! I was kinda meh on continuing the manga because so far the anime had followed it so closely, but this kind of extra detail is exactly what I was hoping for.
