"Providing a contemporary look at what parents must know about the ballet art form, this practical guide includes information on performing, competing, and combining dance, higher education, and work. With photographs of young dancers in traditional positions and a description of the difference between syllabuses, it gives parents the knowledge to ask the right questions when looking for a teacher, a school, or a system of ballet for their child, such as Why are recitals important? What is the difference between a school that specializes and one that teaches all forms of dance? How do you know if a school is good or not? "

I've read both editions, and if you have a child who lives to dance, and is serious about a career in dance, then you need to read this book. The advice is practical and realistic.

Really enjoyed it. Tracked very closely to pretty much everything we've experienced over the past 6 years and to things happening now. Think it is a good read, especially for any parent without a ballet history trying to understand and support their kids.
