Really enjoying this series! Don’t want to say too much in this review because this is the 4th book and I feel like anything would be a spoiler. Just know that this series is fantastic and I really recommend it!

The book overall was good and it introduced some new characters and a new setting. However, it did use the same formula as the old books but still did change enough things to keep the story interesting and fun to read. The story moves on from the old circus that the main character used to live in and brings the story to a more vampire exclusive place, Vampire Mountain. However, before he goes there he meets a Little Person which follows him to Vampire Mountain to deliver a secret message for the Vampire Princes. Throughout the journey Darren finds many new friends and dangers along the way. When Darren finally arrives at Vampire Mountain he is shown that vampires are able to have some fun and act like children once in a while. Toward the end however the book has a large plot twist that changes what you thought of a very close friend to Darren. Darren has to escape a near death situation once again and fight his way to survive. Overall the book was good but beginning to show some repetition.

This was another good book in the cirque du freak series that didn't let it down not one bit, it was about Darren and Mr Crepsley's Journey to Vampire mountain, where they would seek counsel with the vampire princes about Darren being blooded by Mr Crepsley. This wasn't an easy journey they weren't allowed to flit, they had to do it all almost like a human, in the cold wet dark and dangerous woods, land, caves. They met a few characters along the way bears and vampinese and wolves who they befriended, as you can guess they definitely did make it to the mountain. Darren had to face an insane bear in the woods on the way to the mountain and luckily he wasn't killed. When he finally got to the mountain he was intrigued as to the ways of the ancient vampires lived, worked and hunted and learnt a little more knowledge about the legends and myths surrounding the vampires. He even managed to have a sports fight in the hall of sports.

Evra and Darren no longer seem close not as they have done in previous books, this was a shame because they bounced off each other so easily, they were almost like brothers not friends but well that seemed to have dissapeared in this book.

Darren and Mr Crepsley seem to be getting on a lot better almost forming a strong friendship, Darren even got Mr Cresley to laugh, Mr Crepsley seems to finally treating Darren as less than a child.

This book was really descriptive which wasn't a drag but a good thing. Some of the scenes were so well described it felt as if you were there a part of it not a reader of a book. The histories of vampires were interesting to read and cause you to wonder. This wasn't as action packed as others in the series which left me a little flat but it didn't dissapoint.

I'll be reading the next one in the series.

What did I think? Eh. This book was really nothing more than setting up the fifth book in the series. There wasn't a lot of action in the novel. Furthermore, just when I thought the writing couldn't get worse, it did. Ultimately, books 1 & 2 as well as 4 & 5 could have been combined into one book, making the series two books shorter. I feel like the publishers are doing nothing more than splitting the storyline into more books in order to make more money. The upside - my non-readers will read this series.

It wasn't my favorite out of all the books of the series, but this book is just as important as the others due to the significant amount of details it provides that will be useful to know for the future tale.

I don’t remember making it this far in the series before but this was a fun set up for what’s to come!

A fantastic addition to the series. The earlier books really are fantastic. This was Mt 7th or 8th reading of this. Still just as enjoyable as the first time. Characters and setting, as well as context and History very well developed.

This felt like a giant exposition dump. A few fun scenes, this didn't have too much going on for it and really just explained vampire hierarchy and the start of the next arc. Gavner was a welcome inclusion on this literal trek up a mountain. It ends with little tease for the next book but this really was a slow-going story compared to the rest.
