I was pretty dissapointed how Evra and Darren weren't close anymore in this book but I'll get over that I guess...
I really like the idea of the vampire mountain and the tests I can't wait to start the next book! (Arra is really bad ass I like her)

This is now my favorite book so far! So much history so much new information. Despite being a little less with blood guts and gore it didn't take away from anything. Darren makes it to Vampire mountain and a whole new set of events behind a new adventure for him

Darren Shan wanted to go the the vampire mountain and prove to the vampire princes that blooding him wasn't a mistake. But on his journey to vampire mountain him and his mentor Mr. Crepsley had to face many challenges such as walking barefoot and fighting a bear, so on there way to the vampire mountain they nearly get killed. Then they realize that vampaneze are also on there way to vampire mountain. This is a story of determination, courage, and persistence.

fells like a transition book, from the first trilogy of darren’s entry and acceptance into the world of the vampires to this new trilogy where we actually experience the world. It doesn’t drag but it is quite uneventful at certain parts. The world building is very good and expands VERY much. The relationship between Mr Crepsley and Darren that was tested in the last book, is validated and confirmed in this one and grows the attachment a reader has with the two of them. The transition feeling is a great setup for whatever big seems to be coming next, and i’m glad this transition and world building is given it’s own time rather then rammed at the start of a book, however again some areas feel very LONG.

I'm still enjoying this series. Vampire Mountain is interesting. Shan does a good job with his storytelling and I'm intrigued and will continue on with the series. Its another take on vampires

Don't know really what happened with this one. It seems that perhaps the publisher might have pressured Mr. Shan to split a book in two, because this one is only half a book. Most of the book was used to do some infodumping and then end a cliffhanger. Still like the characters and where the story is going, but it was quite disappointing especially compared to how good the last one was which so far it has been the high point of the series. But hey, these books are short and fun, and the violence and gore is delightfully shocking and disturbing for a middle-grade book. I recommend this series.
