This book would appeal to kids on the autism spectrum ages 11-14. It's written by a thirteen year old boy, and kids in this age range are likely to find it relatable.

I have no idea to rate this. I liked the book, though it does read like it was written by a thirteen year old. With Aspergers Syndrome.

We'll go with three stars as the description of three stars is "I liked it". Possibly I might have scored it higher if I had Aspergers Syndrome, or was the parent of an AS kid; but I'm neither of these and I read the book out of general interest only. All said, though, it's a pretty good effort Luke Jackson.

This book needs some allowances for being written by a 13 year old, for example: there are a LOT of exclamation marks, an excessive amount of plugs for the gluten & casein-free diet (about which the author has written another book), and a few untested thoughts like "All the controversy surrounding vaccinations must be for a reason. There is no smoke without fire." That aside though, it's an interesting book and could be very helpful for parents & teachers.

As a parent of a 9 year old aspie, I picked up this book, looking for insight into what my son might be dealing with when he hits teendom. I didn't find any new revelations that hasn't been said in other books on the subject. Luke's writing style and parenthetical additions really got on my nerves. However, I am eager to read it with my son. He's had lots of questions about AS, which I've done my best to answer. Maybe this book, written by and for aspies, might be exactly what he needs.

A non-fiction, own voices book about kids and adolescences with Asperger's syndrome, a syndrome that is a form of Autism. Luke Jackson wrote and had this book published when he was only 13, and this is about his experience with having AS. He gives tips to both those that have it, and the parents and teachers that are part of the their lives. He also shares stories, pictures, and photographs about his experience. This is a great starter read to understanding Asperger's and how to handle it. Having been written by a 13 year old this book is easy to read and understand. Luke gets straight to the point, and is also a unique character. He provides funny commentary on social norms and uses idioms throughout his book, explaining what they mean in the back. Basically, the book and writing style is personable. If you have any interest in AS whether you're connected to someone who has it or just want research for another reason, I would recommend starting with this book. It has an informative and positive outlook on the subject.

Luke Jackson has Asperger Syndrome. He is the thirteen year old author of this "how-to" kind of book. He describes himself as being a little obsessive about certain things, (computers and video games) and totally clueless about others, (facial expressions, or why rules change according to circumstances.) He wrote the book to help other kids with Asperger Syndrome or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) realize that they are OK, and for adults to understand what it's like to have some autism. Insightful, endearing, funny. Rec for middle school or high school students who may have a bit of ASD in his/her family. Easy to read and understand. Has great bibliography/further reading section in the back.

Fantastic book giving a much needed first hand view of life with AS. Worth a read to anyone who is related to or works with children/teenagers who are on the spectrum. Wonderful.

Freaks Geeks & Aspergers syndrome by Luke Jackson

Good book. It's nice to know other people have experiences with bullying and AS too.

I have probably even experienced that sexual bullying which the author hasn't if that is what bully telling you to "look at " and playing adult content on it and then explaining that they were trying to convert me as "hetero sexual".

It seems that it's also fun to use oversensitive senses to bully. They were playing music with maximum volume under my ears so I had to put my hands in ears and naturally I can't complete task which requires writing without hands. It was also funny to do that when I was in stairs and sometimes fell, but that was three years ago.

This book was also a little depressing and that is why I have only given it to four stars of five.

It is written by a 13 year old boy with Aspergers Syndrome. I was recommended it by my sons Speach Therapist as she said that it would be a good read for the whole family, and she was right. I understand far more about my sons diagnosis now after reading the book than I ever did before.

My son is only four, and although I know he will be a teenager eventually, I think that I read this too early. I was able to pull a few nuggets of helpful info out of the book, but the basic gist was . . . "I am different. Deal with it".

I bought this book for a project I was doing at University and wanted some background research into Aspergers Syndrome.

For my art project at university I illustrated The Curious Incident of The Dog in Night Time. The main character Christopher has aspergers syndrome.

I only later read Freaks Geeks and Aspergers Syndrome after I had finished university but I was really impressed with the material.

Luke is very insightful, I love his confidence. The book is easy to follow, it’s humorous and clever. I learned a lot about aspergers syndrome from the book. I don’t know anyone close to me with it, but I feel I have a little bit better understanding of what it means.

I found this book both interesting and easy to put down for a couple of days. It shows a good insight into how it feels to be a teenager and have AS.
