5* - The Hound of the Baskervilles
Remembers me of one of Agatha Christie's work that I read in the childhood.
4* - The Valley of Fear
Second part seemed to long. Holmes was like a secondary character here, somehow.

It was fine the characters were good and the twists were not super predictable, but I trudged through the book, I think it is just not my style. So I think this is the last I will read of Sherlock Holmes in a while, but still a solid book. 6.5

4.5 overall

hounds of baskervilles:
although i really liked this case, i feel like it's extremely overhyped. i have read so many people saying that it's the best sherlock holmes story, and i definitely understand why they're saying that, but i found it to be not all that exciting or exhilarating as others made it seem, which was a little disappointing, i will admit. i do, however, especially like how this case highlighted watson's importance to holmes and gave a little more detail about their friendship. anyone who knows me knows that i love to talk about holmes and watson's dynamic endlessly, and this is the perfect source material for that. due to all of this, i give it a 4.5 stars, and i would recommend it to anyone, especially those trying to get more into holmes.

valley of fear:
contrary to what i said about hounds of baskervilles, this case is extremely underrated, which is truly a shame because it's brilliant. it's very thrilling and exciting. it seems very much like golden age (1920s-1930s) mysteries with the setting and all, and it also reminds me of the study in scarlet in terms of how the story progresses, which is what i didn't like.  i find the historical bits rather boring, especially because they're set in the emptiest places possible in america, so there's nothing much of interest going on there anyway, aside from what's involved with the case, and i don't necessarily like that time period in terms of american history, so i found the second half of the book extremely dull in contrast to the excitement and exhilaration of the first half . because of this, i give it a 4.5 stars and i would recommend it to the same people who id recommend hounds of baskerville to, but i'd honestly recommend this case more.

It's a really good novel. Firstly, Sherlock Holmes is of course, an amazing character but the way the content has been presented is really awesome. All the things are kept hidden in suspense till the very last. Things combine however, so rapidly but easily, that it feels like extremely wonderful. Thankful to my friend Hashir Hameed Niazi, who gifted this book to me an I could read it.

4.5 stars, the truth is that for me it is always fascinating to read the adventures of this iconic detective, to see how ingenious he is when solving a case is wonderful, this book is made up of two stories "The Hound of the Baskervilles" and "The Valley of Fear”, to tell the truth I loved the first one and it would get 5 stars if it weren't for the second one, which honestly didn't feel as exciting as the first one, but that's not why I enjoy reading my beloved Sherlock Holmes any less.

This was extraordinary, so if you're wondering why the rating is only four stars, it's because it's so terrifying.

Exceptional, crisp, witty writing. Sherlock is always a pleasure to read. I particularly enjoyed Hound of the Baskervilles because I have been to Dartmoor (even driven past the prison in Princetown), and can relate to the dark, foreboding nature of the place.
