Birthright is an enthralling adventure following brothers Uldyssian and Mendeln as they traverse jungles towards Partha. Uldyssian, the main protagonist, starts as a hot-tempered warrior but discovers his latent powers upon meeting noblewoman Lilia. With abilities like healing, telekinesis, and telepathy, his powers grow exponentially.

Mendeln, portrayed as a weaker link, possesses contrasting powers rooted in death and decay. His significance is downplayed in this book, leaving room for development in future parts. Uldyssian's best friend, Achilios, relies on his mastery as an expert archer, refusing Uldyssian's gifts. Serenthia, a merchant's daughter seeking vengeance, lacks strength and power, yet potential hints at a larger role.

Crafted with inspiration from the Diablo game, the plot slowly develops characters throughout the book. While some may find it less appealing, author Richard Knaak's intention becomes clear in the trilogy's entirety. A twist in the end becomes a turning point, propelling the characters forward. The goal ahead surpasses individual challenges.

This book sets a solid foundation with a well-woven plot, likable characters, and an enticing twist. Despite slower character development, the book promises exciting adventures and revelations. For fans of the Diablo universe, this is a worthwhile read.

In this series there is a lot of political views. Although the main character is described as good man, there is something fishy around him, maybe the woman by his side.

It was fine, but I'm realizing that even though the Diablo series is collectively my most played game series, I just do not care about the Diablo lore. Probably won't read the rest of the series, but if you like the Warcraft books and Diablo then you'll probably like it.

I enjoyed this book. It could have had better pacing, felt like the end was a bit rushed.

I like hearing the story behind some of my favorite video games and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

The protagonist annoyingly spends almost the entire book in denial.
Nobody confines with anyone else.
Deadly creatures unleashed, quickly dead.
Superpowered evil priest unleashed, quickly dead.
Unstoppable evil demons with near-infinite power unleashed, ran away and wished away.
Overall a lot of nothing important happens.
Really disappointing start to the series.

It moves quickly and Knaak, whom I've not read before, seems the sort of writer who writes as though he has a page limit. The story is fairly interesting if one has ever played the Diablo series of games from Blizzard.

Recommended for those who have an unusual interest in Diablo's lore.

I love Diablo but this book killed few of my brain cells. Bad.

Diablo.

3. Szaleje burza z piorunami - lecimy do lasu. Las spoko, dużo drzew, będzie lepszy widok.
4. Najpierw ucieknę do lasu, a za 5 min wrócę...
5. Szuka brata, za chwile o nim zapomina i chce uciekać... żeby chronić bliskich.

Uldyssian is the hero, I think, and his friends are trying to help him, we think. The women seemingly have nothing more to do than be mysterious or fawn over him. The story goes from point A to point B, introduces some characters who are quickly dispatched, our main character develops some nonsensical powers, he's blamed for murder, then he must run. His friends join him, along with the mysterious woman, and they flee to where? The forest. And then they go in circles and get attacked. Everyone is worried, but no one knows what to do and altogether - between cut scenes with the bad guy - I wonder what I'm reading and why I'm reading it.

My buddy Jon put the question out there: Should we even finish this book? I voted yes because 1- I thought, against all hope, it might get better and 2- we couldn't legitimately warn people away from it if we didn't finish it ourselves. And, quite honestly, as I read on, I realized I had to find out how bad this book would get. It was a train wreck. All told, the group in the story did a little more wandering around, got into some nasty fights, fled, and in the end, kinda won, I think. (This is a trilogy, but there is no way you could pay me to read the rest.) I made a fickle prediction about how the book would end. One plot guess: the best buddy would bite the dust (spoiler: he did) and the second was the mysterious woman would hook back up with the fallen angel guy. After the best bud went bye bye, I started to actually pay attention. Would I go 2 for 2? It didn't look hopeful as I reached the last few pages. My lucky streak was about to be up. But the last paragraph literally had the mystery woman revealing her devious plans to reunite with her beloved fallen angel guy. I laughed hard for a good 30 seconds. I will remember the book simply b/c I guessed the contrived and unoriginal ending. This book is that bad.

Definitely worth reading. Enjoyable characters and settings, with a good application of magical theme. I did find the plot a little bit cliche for the first half, though the second half was a bit better. I expected a stronger ending, though it sets up the sequels well, and I will endeavor to read them soon!
