I picked up a paperback copy at the library when I was in seventh grade because my mom suggested I should read new books instead of just re-reading the Betsy-Tacy series, Little House series and the Wizard of Oz series. I had a hard time getting into it and ended up misplacing the book. Fortunately the library did not issue fines back then, so when I found it several months later in one of my classes (while searching the shelf for a silent reading book) I was able to continue and was hooked. I finished and read the rest of the series to "Anne of Ingleside" annually. Later I discoved the last two books in the series. I always feel like the sky is bluer and the trees are greener when I've been reading an "Anne" book.
