Well, this was the last one of the Redwall books that have been translated into Finnish, and and as such the last one I own. These books still hold a special place in my heart, but only the first few were really worth the re-read - even with the added bonus of nostalgia value. So in the end I won't be reading the rest of the series.

The main reason that I love this book is because it is a very attention gripping book. If you need to try out a new book, I seriously recommend trying this book out. The reason that I docked one star off the rating is because at some points, during the most exciting parts, Brian Jacques will switch the scene and you have to wait until he switches scenes again. But other than that, this is one of my favorite books.

Read this with my son, who gave it 5 stars as usual. I love the world of Redwall (especially the food descriptions), but this is our 6th book, and the plots are getting a bit repetitive. That said, we love the quirks of the various creatures, and doing the mole voices is great fun. AND Reed will still snuggle with me in a big chair as we read, so I give it 5 stars too.

This is the tenth book in the Redwall series. I read this book in sixth grade, actually nearly the whole series, when I was grounded for failing Math. I loved this series. In this book, a young hare wants to join the Long Patrol. The abbey faces some structural problems. There are all kinds of interesting story lines in this book, and in this entire series. I love this series, and I really want to read it again when I get some of my unread numbers down.

It's been at least 15 years since I visited Redwall, but I found Jacques' beautiful scenery, fun dialogue, and engaging heroes drew me in just as much as when I was a child.

The burnout on these books is real. I'm only 8-9 into the 22 books of the series, but I've read the same story 7 times now. Redwall Abbey exists, Salamandastron exists, bad guy exists, bad guy goes after Redwall, a hero arises and joins Redwall/Salamandastron, saves the abbey/mountain (often utilizing the thing the bad guy dreads most), and the say is saved so everyone can eat elderberry and turnips.

The Long Patrol is okay if you like a bunch of hares, but the story is the same, forgettable tale.

I enjoy this series - definitely read as many as I could get my hands on when I was a kid. I still like the stories these tell, but it sometimes gets a little ham-fisted with the moralistic elements and the drama. Still an easy and enjoyable read though!

A very enjoyable tale about a young hare who joins the Long Patrol only to end up fighting in a war against an army of pirates gunning for Redwall Abbey. The tenth book of the series but feels nicely independent to it (with a few call-backs to Mossflower). Brutal in places, there are some significant character deaths as well as other things that happen. A refreshing addition to the series.

You could read these books just for the hares, the food, and the capital way they stuff the vittles.

Given this book is entirely leading up to the grand finale battle, the battle itself lasts under 30 pages and is very unsatisfactory....overall the book is fine but not one of the best of the Redwall series.
