A good story. A bit derivative of previous books in the series.

This was another fun read in the Redwall series, not my favorite, but really this just proves that a "dud" in this series is still a great book. I found the story to be a little lackluster, partially due to the construction of the book, but also based on the content of what happened. The riddle & quest that I generally love so much wasn't really present, and Redwall's B-plot was a bit contrived. Lady Cregga was a poor leader and left me disappointed, though she was balanced by Russano.

I really enjoyed the merriment and food, as always, and the maintenance of the Abbey was interesting as well! I loved the owls and their little family, as well as the introduction of Russano, though I was dying to hear more on the topic. Violet was again irritating, but that's clearly just her character. I enjoyed the additional details around the Long Patrol, and the hare (not rabbit!) culture surrounding their devotion to Salamandastron and the Badger Lord.

I recommend to all fans of fantasy and/or adventure and more specifically the Redwall series in general - these book make for great adventure reading!

Great, as always! Jacques once again delivers a wonderful story with fun characters, the ever present abbey, and the luscious feasts. The hares are still comical with their banter, and the goodbeasts of the abbey are no less adventuresome.

another good one

This was a good read with lots of different stories happening all at the same time. The Long Patrol helped immensely in so many ways. I am surprised that the battle didn’t happen at Redwall and that Damug listened to Midge even though he and Tam had escaped…But it was good that he didn’t so all the creatures at Redwall with the crumbling south wall could be safe.

Quite good, I'm sure. There isn't much else to say about it, I'm afraid, for, seeing as all the Redwall books end up being more or less the same, I've already said everything by reviewing other books in the series.

These are some of my favorite stories and listening to the audio version while I read is the BEST!!! Jacques and the other actors are amazing at bringing the characters to life and the singing always makes me smile.

This was the first time in probably 15 years that I picked up one of the Redwall books, and I decided to go with my favorite. I always loved the "perilous hares" of Salamandastron, and this book has them in spades. It also had a decent amount of character development for what I remember of these books, with Tammo growing up through his journey. The familiar story beats were a joy to read again, the feast descriptions were plentiful, and in the end the good guys win. All in all, I was glad to return to Redwall Abbey, and look forward to sharing this series with my own children.

The Long Patrol is the tenth book in the epic Redwall Series by Brian Jacques. This series is aimed at Middle-grade aged/YA readers, but I am waaaay older than that and still enjoyed the adventure.
