At this rate I'm going to be giving all the Redwall books 5*. The hares are such fun characters and I really liked Cregga, which showed that even the good guys are not always good. Also, Tammo was a really likeable character and I liked how the characters from the previous book returned.

All of the Brian Jacques books are starting to blur together. Even so, I am really enjoying rereading this Redwall series.

One of the first series that I read as a child, a large reason why I fell in love with reading. A must! Great fantasy.

There's something about the pacing of this book that just feels brisk compared to the others, and I love it. The characters are strong and distinct. Some come back from the previous book in the timeline, Pearls of Lutra, and some more are good enough come back around in subsequent books. The plot has a unique elements and a pace to it that marches alongside the traveling armies. The only glaring problem is the villain, who peaks in his first chapter, and never does much interesting stuff ever again. Otherwise, this is an excellent, energetic read.

These books are still interesting, but they do seem to get a little repetitive.

More galavanting with Jacques. Cregga a difficult character to like (as a "hero") but perhaps demonstrating there is space for more shades of grey. The Abbey wall collapsing & impending horde provide plenty of drama. Tammo's bildungsroman is funny & heartening

Loved so many books in the series, but the humor and characters in this one made it a standout.

I first read the Redwall books years ago and I still enjoy them when I recently re-read them. I love the world building and the creativity with which these animals were anthropomorphized. The level of description is really well done and very detailed. So adventurous and so very entertaining.

This book is very entertaining and kept me interested throughout. I listened to the official audible and the voice acting is top tier, it really made me feel immersed and like I was just another hare in the Long Patrol fighting off vermin to protect Lady Rose-eyes and the critters in Redwall.
It has some tense moments but they're balanced very well with light and goofy scenes, I'll most likely be back to listen again come winter so I can daydream about warmer weather!

Taking a sabbatical worked wonders after burning out on Redwall novels. We are back and I’m fully in love once again. Really enjoyed Tammo as a lead and more hares is always better. Not really sure what the Mossflower callback subplot did for the wider story, though.

Tempted to 5* just about all Redwall series. I even beat out the songs, usually in 4/4 march time, but rhythms vary. Sometimes I'm in such a rush to find out what happens next, I have to skip back to study the small illustrations before each chapter that bring the words alive. Author Jacques isn't afraid to thoroughly paint a person (including hares, squirrels) in depth, then bring tears to my eyes when valiant heroes sacrifice him/her-selves.
