Oh! THIS one is wonderful! A perfect bedtime book. It'll take about 15 minutes or so to read and you'd better not be too sleepy yourself as you try to maneuver some of the tongue twisting lines. It's sure to stir a few yawns for child and reader but each page is interesting enough to keep you both awake till the end.

When read aloud to someone, or even to yourself, it works every time. ( At least for me)
Zzzzzs every time with this book of rhyme.

Try to read this book without yawning, because I don't think its possible. Actually a little long for a bedtime book, most children's bedtime books are much shorter, but this one works fairly well none the less. I think the hope is that the little ones will be nodding off by the time you finish it, which is rare with us.

This is my daughter's absolute favorite book to read before bed. It is full of rhyming words which are so wonderful for early readers. In this book it follows many different characters in my different locations as they slowly go to sleep. My favorite character is the Chippendale Mupp. He is a character that bites his tail before he goes to sleep, but his tail is so long that by the time he feels the bite it is time for him to wake up.
I recommend this book for any child to have read to them or to read themselves before bed.

Featured in a grandma reads session.

Yawning is contagious, and we've read a couple of yawning books before, and that's a fun game to play. You yawn, get into it, and pretty soon, everyone is yawning. . . .

So while these kids grow older, and loose interest in some things (fairytales, childhood stories), there are others, especially anything written by Dr. Seuss, and you have everyone leaning in. This was one of those!

How many stars, I asked. . . .15 yelled our oldest (to be fair, he is a Napper).

So boring and not even good rhyming. I just don’t think I’m a Dr. Seuss fan. I’m late to reading these since my mom didn’t like them and never brought them into my house as a kid. Maybe she was into something.

I wish I could say that my daughter grew as sleep as I did after reading Dr. Seuss's Sleep Book, but as she moves toward the ripe age of 5, her energy stores seem to increase. Despite that, I think there would be days when Dr. Seuss's focus on the contagion of yawns across his imaginative creatures would lead to early slumber. Much like most of Dr. Seuss's books, the rhyme and rhythm are tight and the creativity inspires readers to keep their brains open to the possibilities of a wide imagination.

Note: All of my picture book reviews come in packages of three, where I choose to review my favorite of the three.
This book is reviewed alongside two other Seuss-centered books: Would You, Could You Plant a Tree and Is a Camel a Mammal. Both books are deserving of their own reviews because of their educational value situated in the typical Seussian rhyme and imagination (despite being written by modern authors). And yet, the sleep book was the book I chose simply for its impact on my own sleepiness:)

I started yawning while reading this book from just looking at the yawning friends of Van Vleck's. They were yawning so wide you could look down their necks.

By the time I got to the moose and the goose juice I was wanting a drink, and that put me on the brink of screams. So...Im warning you, now! Never drink in your dreams.

So did the Sleep Book help me sleep? No, but it sure was a fun ride, that only Dr. Seuss could ever provide!
