Edited 10/3/22 to add that my kids still love this book. It’s so much fun!
My daughter loves this book, as do I. She enjoys all of the funny words in this book, and wanted it read to her multiple times a day.
She got me, her dad, and her grandparents all to read it to her. This book is fun! There are silly words, fun pictures in vibrant colors, and it’s educational.
We love Dr. Seuss books, and this one is no exception!
I read this with my 9yo cousin and it was a fun activity to get her to think about different words that begin with different letters, especially enjoyed thinking of animals beginning with whichever letter we were on. This is really useful and a super fun activity to do with your children!
I read the book ABC by Dr.Seuss. It is about the alphabet and all the words with a certain letter in it. It starts with A and finishes with Z. There are a lot of interesting words they use throughout the book.
There is no main character, but there are some characters. David Donald Doo who is some white kid that dreams about a duck dog. There is Fiffer-feffer-feff who has four fluffy feathers coming out of his head. There is also Zizzer-Zazzer-Zuzz who is gigantic, ugly, and pink and white.
There is no setting; it is just super random. I guess the setting is in your head and where ever you want it to take place. There was not a time either, so you have to use your imagination.
I would recommend this book to adults reading to young children who are learning. I personally did not care for it much, but I was not reading it to a child. I was reading it to myself. It is a fun, good way for kids to learn at a young age. Plus a lot of people like Dr.Seuss.
While living in Athens, Greece, then River Forest, Illinois, we introduced my son to our alphabet using Dr. Seuss. While in Pasadena, Texas, and Cicero, Illinois, then Oran, Algeria, I introduced him to McGuffey's Readers by which he learned to read exceptionally well. By the age of 4 and 5 he had started to read novels and adventure comics. Thanks to Seuss and McGuffey.
Dr. Seuss's ABC: An Amazing Alphabet Book!, Dr. Seuss
Dr. Seuss's ABC is a 1963 children's A to Z alphabetical picture book by Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel). It contains several short poems about a variety of characters, and is designed to introduce basic alphabet book concepts to children.
Author Dr. Seuss (1963). Although at first glance, the book was intended for older early readers, ABC: An Amazing Alphabet Book works best when read aloud especially for any toddler or preschooler. The use of alliteration on every page creates a sing-song cadence that captivates learners while learning the ABC’s. Rather than rote learning, which can be dry and boring, this text has a rhythm that helps make learning easier and entertaining. In addition, Dr. Seuss provides colorful, fun, vibrant pictures that create a great visual association for the learner which further enhance their experience. Target Audience: Preschool and up.
Always, always add the child’s name on their letter’s page.
Mother Tongue notes: Have students say the name of the letter every time it’s mentioned on a page. This helps beginners to recognize the letters outside of the alphabetical order.
The front and back fly leafs have the ABC’s printed in a large font. These pages can be a helpful tool for playing games with the letters after reading the book.
