Il n'y a rien à faire. Même raconté par Dumas, Casse-Noisette restera le moins merveilleux des contes, du fait même son/ses personnage(s) principal/aux qui ne peut/vent faire rêver. On est plus ici dans la veine d'un Alice au pays des Merveilles que d'un beau conte de fées. Oui voilà, plus dans le fantastique que dans le merveilleux. Il y a une certaine richesse thématique et des bizarreries auxquelles il est inutile de tenter de donner sens qui lui donnent un certain charme ceci dit.

This was completely different to what I expected. It’s a story about a story being told to a (temporarily) bedridden child... which kind of comes true... and ends with a questionable time shift and marriage. The Barbie and The Nutcracker movie was a better time.

I have never watched a play or film adaptation of The Nutcracker with the exception of a Mickey Mouse cartoon. So, I went into the story without much previous knowledge. The version I read was Alexandre Dumas's adaptation of Theodor Amadeus Hoffman's tale. It was the perfect book to finish out the holiday season and the year. I loved the format of the stories told within the stories. The only part I really didn't care for was a little girl getting engaged and, consequently, married a year later. Saying they waited until she was grown wouldn't have been too much to ask, but, I guess, you can't always find reason within fairytales. lol

L’avevo detto che recuperavo la storia originale de lo Schiaccianoci!
Almeno qui dicono che è stata questa novella a ispirare il famoso balletto.
Ma comunque: mi sono finalmente ricreduta su questo classico natalizio?
…Sni.
Non mi ha fatto impazzire, ma ammetto che non è pessimo come ricordavo. E non potete negarlo: di materiali per retelling più stagionati ne ha a bizzeffe (e questo non c’entra col fatto che sto leggendo la sua versione spicy).
Diciamo che il mio livello di gradimento verso questo piccolo romanzo è stato sostenuto principalmente dall’edizione e dalle illustrazioni originali: sono una gioia per gli occhi e danno al tutto un’atmosfera nostalgica. In più ho apprezzato l’introduzione di Dumas dove spiega come è arrivato a raccontare questa storia. Aneddoto fin troppo divertente che purtroppo dubito possa essere ricreato ai giorni nostri.
Ma vendiamo alla trama in sé.
È datata e si nota, non tanto per come il Natale veniva rappresentato, ma per il fatto che alla fine del libro Marie si sposa a nove anni. Mi auguro di aver capito male io perché è alquanto preoccupante.
Per il resto devo ammettere di aver gradito molto la caratterizzazione dei personaggi. Drosselmayer è davvero interessante e non so se sentirmi inquietata da ciò. Anche Fritz è ben descritto essendo un rompiballe e i genitori che non credono ai racconti dei figli? Un classico.
Il problema è che non riesco proprio a farmi piacere la figura dello Schiaccianoci. E qui l’ho trovato ancora più insopportabile. Per lo meno tutta la solfa dei topi è stata intrigante e povera signora Rattona! Voleva solo del lardo.
Non posso commentare molto su Marie perché alla fine è una bambina di sette anni e mezzo che si comporta come una quattordicenne ed è trattata alla stregua di una sposa bambina senza personalità e con troppa fantasia, ma ehi… così va la vita in questa società.
Nel complesso sono contenta di aver recuperato questo classico, sebbene non mi abbia fatto ricredere sul suo protagonista.

Not the more well known adaption of the story that I’m used to, but an interesting tale nonetheless. I enjoyed the beginning and the ending; the story in the middle, though important, kind of lost me. Lovely book for Christmas, though!

Alice in Wonderland + Beauty and the Beast + Willy Wonka. A fun classic, but I can’t help but think that they used to tell children very strange stories for entertainment back in the day.

بها دقة وصف تجعل القارئ يسرح بخياله محاولًا أن يُجسد أحداثها و شخوصها ، أشكالهم ، ملابسهم و مساكنهم ، تصلك رسائل خلال قراءتها عن الخير ، الفعل الصحيح ، نتائج الإنتقام ، التسرع يؤدي للندم ، لا تعامل الناس بأشكالهم و لكن بنواياهم و تصرفاتهم .
العديد من الرسائل بين صفحات الكتاب ، و لكنه ممل بعض الشيء و هذا ما جعلني أُطيل الوقت بقراءته ، هو جميل لأصحاب الخيال الواسع .

This story will always have a special place in my heart. I absolutely adore the story of The Nutcracker! The Barnes and Noble copy is beautiful. I’m so glad I have this in my Christmas collection for Christmases to come! I love reading classics. Highly recommend!

لماذا على الشاب ان يُغامر وعليه أن يتجاوز مخاطر وتحديات للفوز بقلب الفتاة ؟
أو يكون قبيحاً ولن يستعيد صورته الحقيقية إلا عندما تقع الفتاة في حبه ؟
لن يحدث اى من هذا في الواقع....
اليست الحياة مُحبطة ومن الأفضل ان الاطفال يعرفوا ذلك مبكراُ ؟ ...
