Books bringing us together across the miles.
Middle-school age Grandchildren are loving this NYT bestselling anthropomorphic series about Soren and his noble group of owls who defend Ga’ Hoole from evil.
“For we fight for a good cause... the cause of compassion, of freedom, of the belief that no one owl is better than another due to birth, breed, or kind of feather.”

I wasn’t able to have a Warrior Cats™️ phase because I was having an Owl Girlie™️ phase. The Guardians of Ga’hoole books were my everything—the ONLY series that, to baby Abby, equaled Harry Potter.
It is time to return to my Owl Girlie™️ roots. It’s Owl Girl Summer.

Gearing up for war! The Owls of Ga’Hoole must find out the desires of the pure ones. After watching the movie, and now reading the book, I kind of wish that we got a sequel. Now we understand where Klud first met the pure ones, and why they have been so secret.

It's a little strange how it's ok to be racist to snakes and gulls and magpies, but being racist to other owls is crossing a line. Especially considering every one of the aforementioned creatures has played a huge role in saving someone's life.

Throughout this book, I kept catching myself thinking, "man, the plot is pretty good. I wish the world-building wasn't ass."

Also as the series goes on, I think there's less and less chants and hymns to skip through, so that's nice.

A great adventure! Needless to say, Good, no great job Kathryn Lasky! that's my kind of adventure! can't wait to see what happens next! Chaw of chaws, do your good deeds! Racdrops on Metal Beak! burn his mask, colliers! (Whith bonk coals I say! With bonk coals!!!) Read the books first, DON'T watch the movies first! (Like me...) :(

One of my favourites in the series. Guardians finally take some measures to stop St. Aegolius, though I wonder why it took so long. Spy games between Chaw of Chaws, St. Aegolius and Pure Ones are gripping. Besides, the tension between Guardians and Pure Ones is resolved in an open conflict. The book shows how Metal Beak rose to power, and it introduces his mate Nyra, who, don't matter how much I hate her, is a good villian.

This review wouldn't be complete without mention of Otulissa. In previous books she had overgrown her snobbery, but in 'The Siege' her character development marches on. Otulissa stands for what's right, even if it means to oppose a ryb. She fights to defend what Guardians stand for and loses those she loves. She is a warrior now, but she didn't lose her scientific mind and love of studying. No wonder Otulissa is my second favourite of all characters!
