This book was a little bit slow. But as it went on, I realized the purpose of the book in the series. I immediately fell in love with young Hoole. I cried when Siv was killed. As a 51 year old woman that loves owls, this series keeps my attention.

Just finished reading this book not long ago, still on the 11th. It's hard to find time to read when you work all day and when you get home, all you want to do is eat and go to bed.

I really don't have much to say about this volume, since it directly follows the previous one.
I just want to refind the band, even Coryn at a pinch (which I liked a little less).
I can't wait to dive into the next one to find them all !

I thought that this book was really well written and would recamened this book to anyone who likes adventer and action. The conflic in this book is simaler to a conflict in another book. *Spoiler alert* The confict between this book and the book The Outcast is very simaler in the way of retriving a magical ember called the ember of Hoole from a volcano called Dunmor. During the retrieval though in these books is that there is always an evil owl that whants the ember for themselve. The difference between the conflics is the time period that it is occuring. Another difference is the owl the is retrieving the ember and the evil force. The two characters that are grabing the ember in the different time periods are Coryn and Hoole. To me this book was a realy good book to read for me.

This really got to me. I had low expectations since I did not like the last one, but wow. It really grew on me. Its a book about overcoming what others think of you and breaking free from the labels they try to use to pin you down.

Kind of beautiful in many ways. And even though I had a hunch, this:

"I... only wanted to be her son a little bit longer."

That fucking broke me.

Creative Nonfiction reread.
A great story even as a young adult reader. Nothing much really rereading it even though I don't remember the plot. Just a grin on my face and some good memories.

One of my favorites in the series! It's basically a prequel, cause our heroes are reading the Legends of Ga'Hoole books, and this is the story about Hoole, Grank's Prince charge. I loved it, it fills in gaps about the beginning of the Ga'Hoole Tree and the Owl Ember. And you learn more about the Hagsfiends.
Can't wait to read the next one!
