I loved this and it was relatively plausible. I don't quite understand how the setting is in Philadelphia and it's written with English spelling and grammar (colored/coloured) etc. but that didn't stop me from loving it.

Basically the same review as for the only other book by Emma Holly I've read: one star because of the purple prose, the supposedly hot sex scenes were making me laugh, the lack of plot and characterisation. I bought it because it was highly recommended to me by a friend. I've just found again in my library and I'm giving it away.

This book is the best kind of erotica, the kind that perfectly mixes toe-curling sex with the mundane lives of its characters. While certain situations lend themselves seamlessly to familiar sexual scenarios—a partner dropping in at work for a quickie—others often stay firmly rooted in everyday situations without any sexual hijinks. The characters are flawed but written firmly within the parameters of their natures and the storyline progresses in a satisfying matter to a surprising but happy conclusion.

However, I was disappointed at the underlying message of this book. I had hoped that the heroine, a take-charge, intelligent, hard-working, sensible and capable businesswomen, would wind up with two youthful sexy males firmly under her reins. Instead, one man proves to be a typical domineering bad boy and the other firms up into being sexual controlling. (When Kate is coerced into agreement while being hogtied, hypnotized and sexually teased, I actually felt a little queasy.)

I’m not saying the book is badly written—it isn’t—only that it’s not to my taste. Others might find this very stimulating indeed.

Thought it was a good book, sometimes the descriptive language kinda lost me at times, just trying to imagine the many descriptions....woooo....sometimes a bit overwhelming for me LOL! But all in all I have to say I enjoyed reading it and being engaged with the characters.

Awesome...

I absolutely loved Joe, Kate, and Sean. What an erotic, unique, and extremely sensual story. No matter your sexual preference, you'll find something you like in this story. Being a straight woman, I must say I found the scenes in this book intriguing. A well written and worthwhile read.

the book was SUPER hot, exploring fantasies, bondage, menage, and had an older female heroine. the overall story was decent, parts seemed forced, parts seemed to be missing. i would've like more story during the separation, especially since the men exchanged steamy letters. why? i also understood that one character was the lead in the relationship, but why did that mean it wasn't ok for the other man to have one-on-one time with the heroine. lots of unanswered questions about the relationship that made the ending seem to wrap up way too quickly.

synopsis:
kate has been fantasizing about one the guys, joe, who rents a room from her, even though they have told her they are in a relationship with each other. when kate comes home from work early one night, she finds sean and joe in her room. sean asks her to join them, and despite the fact that sean doesn't seem too serious about it, joe is, so kate joins. she knows that, since they are younger than her, it can't last, but they agree to enjoy it while it lasts. the only rule is that they don't take it outside of the group. joe and kate quickly form a deep bond, although kate is wary, because she is divorced and because joe is so much younger than she is. when joe is discovered as an actor, he asks kate to marry him, but kate says no. joe leaves and they don't have contact for 6 months, although joe does keep in contact with sean. when joe comes back, he asks kate to marry him again and she agrees.

what i liked: i liked the build in relationship between joe and kate, and the different relationship between sean and kate. i also liked that the relationship between joe and sean wasn't forgotten.

what i didn't like: the fact that neither joe or kate loved sean; he seemed like an also ran for both of them. i also didn't like that both sean and joe seemed to be prodigies; sean became kate's business partner within a month and joe was discovered and became a successful actor right away.

Let's spill the bad first. The story takes place in Philly. Even with the casual name drop of streets & spots in Philadelphia, it didn't feel like the story actually took place there. It also didn't feel like I was reading a story about a menage couple in the US. Too many words and phrasing that doesn't sound like the lingo here.

I believe this author is one of the many that friends have recommended to me for a steamy story. It's really sweet. The characters are all likeable and the passion is real. The story takes off with the main characters indulging themselves in something naughty. In the beginning, they were just landlord and boarders. Kate snooping in Joe's stuff because she has a definitive crush on the younger man. Sean and Joe hooking up in Kate's room. Things get even hotter when Kate walks in on them in the middle of sex.

Sure. People are more likely to lose their shit and throw down anger. I liked the honest freefall of all of them giving into their desires. People don't really do that often enough, and, even if they do, there's all these needles of regret, shame and stuff. It's nice to start the story off with a little honest fantasy and dive into how that resolves in reality.

Don't you know? Dreams aren't actually impossible. They can come true. Fantasies that are given life are much more satisfying to experience with all your senses than just your imagination.

Emma Holly knows how to blend Erotic elements into story plots well. The characters were well defined and likeable. As my first entry into the Erotica genre, this author has always held a special place on my ebook shelf. It is, for me, a timeless classic.
