I'm a USA Today bestselling author who LOVES the hot stuff, both to read and to write. My favorite obsessions are all things coffee, almost everything on HGTV, and dreaming up new stories.

Too many sex scenes

Let me start by saying that I love Emma Holly's books. This book however, had way to many sex scenes. Sometimes you don't need to describe in detail every single one. Sometimes it's enough to insinuated or say it happened. By the end I was skipping just to finish the story. Plot was good and characters were likable but too long and drawn out and I did not get the lesson in the separation. Oh read.

Wellll.... the author hit it reeeeeeal hard in the beginning, and I actually quite liked the characters, then the whole book died off to mostly-skimming territory by about halfway through. The ending was cute in parts but hokey. Still, will definitely read more by this author in the hopes that her plotting improved at some point in the past 22 years.

#10 in the read-through-the-bookshelf challenge.

Another great read from Emma Holly. I love Holly as an author, she mixes her style of writing up, however what stays a constant is her smoking hot sex scenes (including male on male) and truly likeable characters. This book is a serious sex fest and once again there is M/M action (a big yay from me), some light BDSM (so if you don't like these things be warned) as well as the standard M/F/M of a menage.

Joe and Sean are good friends and lovers, Joe has the hots for Kate and Sean helps bring her into their relationship, originally for Joe's sake. She is considerably older, 23 year old males to 33 year old female is a big emotional/maturity age difference, but she is perfect for them. Kate is understanding, nuturing, empathetic and a decent lady all around, which they both needed.

There are no great earth shattering events in the book, it is more sexual and psychological. Kate has been through divorce after being left by her husband for a very young partner and Joe and Sean lap up her genuine care and (mature) self assured sexiness. Kate also feels the bite of friend loss post divorce, she works hard to maintain one "friend" while she is admirably making sure to be able to support herself financially. I like the fact that we have an older female to the younger males, it's nice to see females get recognition for the experience and beauty that can be a 30 plus (year old) woman, and Kate is refreshing, successful and adventurous.

If you want a well written, extremely erotic book with heartfelt emotions and endearing primary characters, ones you want to find happiness, then give this book a whirl. Emma Holly is a must read author.

Entertaining Black Lace novel, for the most part anyway. Makes nice escapism... :-)

Parts of this book I did quite enjoy onto others I was looking more with something like scientific curiosity. I'm just not into spanking, BDSM and the submission thing. When I'm reading such scenes I'm always wondering and I read these scenes trying to understand what drives these people. So, if you enjoy these topics I can recommend this book to you. For the likes like me there are also several rather common erotical encounters if you include m/m, m/m/f into this defintion ;-) which are pretty hot.
Emma Holly again manages to spin a real plot around her characters and tell a real story and not only lines up sex scene after sex scene with a flimsy excuse of a story. Just for that one star more.

Well, yes it is a menage book, but after the smutty start this book actually got real good. Kate runs her own bookshop and has two tenants one of whom she has the hots for. Joe and Sean are both gay but Joe has the hots for her and eventually they end up in a threesome. But then, they get to know each other and care for each other, and the story gets real heart warming. kinda.

Two and a half stars.

Divorced woman gets new lease on life when she enters into a sexual relationship with her two twenty-something lodgers.

MMF menages where everyone is involved with everyone else is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine to read about. And this novel was full of everyone sleeping in everyone elses bed.

The characters were likable and the sex was hot. Overall an enjoyable read.
