I can't say that I enjoyed this a whole, whole lot. I will admit to skimming through parts of it, but I still retain a lot while skimming. I was a little weirded out by some of the descriptions - like sexes melting like butter, and clits awashed in cream. Likewise there was that moment when, as kinky as they've got it going on with Kate walking in and joining in a threesome, they were prudish enough to need a condom before Joe would let her give him a blow job. It just seemed so out of place there. But those things didn't matter much - it just took some of the sexiness out of the smexy times. It pulled me out of the fantasy a touch.

I didn't care for the whole BDSM part of everything and how Kate needs someone to master both her body and her heart, which is why she can't be with Joe exclusively. I'm not big on whips, chains, racks, being dominated, etc. I can see how some people would like it, but power games, even sexy ones, don't do much for me. I didn't like that Joe was "unfaithful" while away from her (although technically they weren't really together anymore). I guess you could say she wasn't either since she was sleeping with Sean, but he was part of the menage so it doesn't really count. I don't count other partners during menage sex to be infidelity, since we're all on board. I also hated the way Joe treated her when he returned and how he never really apologized for that - nor did he explain it. Was fucking with her mentally during that dinner date part of his mastery over her? That was confusing. Overall, just not my cup of tea here.

After all the hype about Emma Holly's work, I was expecting something much better than I got. I spent most of the time giggling over Holly's euphemisms and bad, purple prose descriptions of man-parts rather than enjoying the romance.

Horrible

I have read other works by Emma Holly but this has to be the worst. It was as if she just threw some words on paper and said okay. There is no resolution at the end of the story they way the characters interact have no finality. I was boring to read.

For some reason this just didn't gel for me. Perhaps because there was no build up of relationships beforehand - it was just a free for all from the get go. Even though the author started working in the emotional relationships, it was too late for me :(

This isn't even good literature. First I was surprised that I was shocked and then I got over that shock and it turned into disgust because first of all,

WHY

That is all I can say

I wanted something with no plot. It sure gave me that but it also gave me like no dialogue and nothing other than description (And the description described) But nobody talked

I am annoyed and kind of pissed off but who cares? I got it for like a dollar.

Also really hate the name Joe and Sean and I hated the main woman

I've never hated something more. It's not even literature, it's just like a toddler trying to draw descriptive smut and if you do that you know what you get you get this book. (Also at that point somebody calls CPS)

For being published in the '90s, I'm impressed with the gay sumt in this

But other than that all this book was, was smut AND IT WASN'T EVEN GOOD

Kate gets involved with her two hunky lodgers. Wahey!! Well written in terms of plot and rather enjoyable for other satisfactory reasons.

Completely exceeded my expectations!! It was hot from the get-go and all throughout whilst still maintaining a storyline that was interesting, real and not just fluff to support the sex scenes. A must-read and in my top 5 erotica! If you loved Menage too, you must read Emma Hollys 'Personal Assets'.

I'm so torn on this book! The sex scenes were some of the hottest I've ever read. SERIOUS panty-melting yumminess. It's the plot that sort of sinks it. The emotional plotline is a complete mess, and most of the time, I had no idea who was feeling what for whom and why in that respect.

The development of the characters, except Sean, didn't make any sense to me either. Changes just seemed to come out of nowhere, for no reason. I never really knew what the hell was going on with Kate, and Joe's sudden rise to fame and thus to a "play top" was really fake and made me miss the original Joe. I mean -- it was SIX MONTHS, not ten years! Oy.

So, the plot, emotional throughline, and characterization are only 2/5, imo, but I finally had to decide on 3/5 just based on the sex scenes. Did I mention they were hot?

Hot. Puts the triple XXX in exotic sex. Not for the faint of heart.
