Stephanie remains reliably funny with lots of crazy side characters. This is the book in which Bob the dog arrives, as well as several of her old high school friends. Ranger is hiding from the law (or is he working with them?) because he is a witness of to the death of a local bad guy. Grandma has moved in with Stephanie to get away from a feud with Stephanie's father. And I shook the bed laughing one night reading about Bob having eaten Grandma's prune stash and then winding up in the car with some inept baddies who are tracking Stephanie in an attempt to find Ranger. This series continues to delight.

What's the difference between a formula and an in-joke? I suspect it's merely whether or not they still make you laugh, so I'm still OK with this series. Yes, Stephanie really should find time for some more target practice, get over her gun-phobia, fit some proper locks on her door and learn to regulate her spending so she's not always desperate for money but hey guys this is fiction - you know, made-up stuff, and, what is more, made-up stuff that isn't taking itself too seriously. So although I see the flaws that are wearying some readers, I'm prepared to take everything with a pinch of salt and enjoy these books for the fluff that they are.

3.5 ⭐ this was a good one! Stars given for confusion, but if I had read the book rather than listening it probably would have been easier to follow

Keep Carol from jumping (though Steph doesn't believe Carol was really going to jump. The jacket she was wearing was just too nice and the jump would have ruined it. In the 'Berg you give the jacket to your sister and then jump), find Ranger (while not turning him over to the law of course), follow the gangster's son...oh and keep from getting killed herself. Steph has a full plate here.

Evanovich manages to keep up the humor and the stories through another book. Not bad. Same ups and downs. Okay.

Another cliff hanger ending. I own the next book, "Seven Up", but it's in storage, which I won't have access to until I get a house, so I guess I'm going to have to take a break from these for a month or two. It's going to kill me. I love these stories!

Book 5 ends with a killer ending, Stephanie decided she will invite a guy over, her choice between Ranger and Morelli. She got out her slinky black dress and called him but it ends there, what a killer so I bought the next book right away, i just needed to find out. I didn't think that it was Ranger but still I wanted to know.

Grandma Mazur also decided to room with Stephanie for a few days since the taser accident she did on Stephanie's wife. She is also left to dog sit when she asked a cop to drop charges, so her friend Carol can stop climbing a bridge to threatening to kill herself. And lastly this book's FTA? Murderer-Rapist, and Ranger? Yes that is what I said ???, apparently he was caught on hidden camera to be the last person who entered a building when arms dealer son, Homer Ramos got burnt alive and was shot in the head. Vinnie offered the hunt to her but she is not that derange to pursue Ranger, so Vinnie gave it to Joyce. But even if she decided not to get involve she still did. There was the usual car disasters, kidnapping and bad guys that doesn't seem like they could do harm to her but when their boss became desperate they threaten to cut her finger off to lure Ranger out. The tension between Stephanie and Ranger is progressing and Morelli is still in the picture and their relationship is still complicated.

Another funny mystery involving the bumbling, fly by the seat of her pants, Stephanie Plum. I listened to this on audio, and while the story was good, the narrator was horrible! It did take away from my enjoyment a bit, but I didn't let that affect my overall rating.

Hot Six - G
Evanovich, Janet - 6th in series

Sexual temptation, homicidal maniacs, car crashes and doughnut addiction are all in a day's work for Stephanie Plum. Now there's another male in her life. He's big, he's orange, and he howls when he's left alone. But nothing could prepare her for the disaster she faces when Grandma Mazur moves in.

The series continues to be fun.
