This is a quick, quirky read that will keep you laughing as you turn the pages. The main character knows what she wants and goes after it, even into the wilds of Alaska.
This was a "fun" read. Just something I didn't have to think deeply about. Janet Evanovich never disappoints with her material. This is a stand alone book ... which I wish another book were written with the same characters. The characters were likable ... Alex, young, beautiful, successful left it all in New York to find a husband and a full life in Alaska. Michael Casey, rugged, manly, confirmed bachelor discovers Alex investigating the small, abandoned cabin on the property next to his. That's where it all begins. Lots of tension arises ... some sexual but this is not an X rated book by any means. It's a fun, quick read that takes the reader away to a very different area from New York.
This is a well-written, entertaining, lighthearted romantic comedy novella. It has a vividly described Alaskan setting, likable characters, humor, a heart warming romance, and a happily ever after ending. I listened to the audio version of this novella, and the narrator, Ms. C.J. Critt, has lovely voice and does an excellent job depicting the characters and their personalities.
Much like a hallmark movie Alex is a successful buissness women who literally trades her condo in NY for a cabin in Alaska. Alex is in search of a husband and of course her rich hot neighbor won't do. If you love hallmark movies and want one in a book form, that's what this book is.
I usually read Janet's Stephanie Plum novels. Found this romance book at a used book store. I liked it. Very cute, funny and quick read. It's an older book of Evanovich's but pretty enjoyable. Apparently she wrote a couple of other romance books, I'll probably try and find/read those.
Pretty much all romance novels seem to rely heavily on gender stereotypes and heteronormarive breeding nonsense, and weird beauty standards about what your hair looks like or whatever. This totally does that, but I kind of liked the tone and thought the consent was better than some. Not a great book, but a quick, fun bit of fluff.
