Powerful examples by the author make his original book that much stronger. Well worth listening to his thoughts on different problem topics, how they can be approached and what can be learned from the experience.
This book is about living in the now to find peace and happiness. We all spend so much time consumed with past hurts and the possibility of an unpleasant future that we are unable to live in the now. I have gained progress toward the goal of living in the now by studying this book and the book An Encounter With A Prophet. If you would like to give up bringing emotional garbage into your present and stop worrying about the future I recommend you read both books.
This is a good introduction to Eckhart Tolle as it provides audio of one of his seminars. It is not as in-depth as his books but still gets into his ideas of space consciousness and being in tune with the inner body instead of consuming the mind with thinking about the past or future.
not for first timers. you are better off reading an eckhart tolle book or two first. this is good for a sort of revision or whenever you are losing it and need another dose of the tolle drug. this doesn't work all that well as an audio book. i'd sooner get it directly from an audio rendering of one of his books. the long silences are okay in a retreat. but not packaged together in an audio book. i know this is contrary to the teaching, but you really do need the essence of it and the long gaps in the audio don't serve you too well in the middle of traffic or a workday situation, when you do need to listen to something to calm those frayed nerves down! and it didn't work for me, all that well. hence.
I found Tolle's teachings on spirituality quite useful and applicable to the modern-day life. He combines many "old truths" in a simple way and his notion of pain-body in both collective and personal unconsciousness does make a lot of sense. But some things he is talking about can be really misleading. I would not recommend the book to the teenagers or people who are not familiar with the basics of Buddhism, spirituality, etc.
Great audio! Tolle has a voice and a calming presence about him that fits perfectly with his message, which is to completely focus on being present and to live in the moment. The concepts presented here sound simple and easy, but once you take them to heart and try them it can be very difficult. But like with anything worthwhile, time and effort will reap its own reward! Wonderful!
