Disappointed. I love most Evanovich. This book has many of the elements that make the other book series great. It just doesn't come together for me. I don't like the characters as much, and characters are what drive her books for me. The plot is usually just an arena or stage for these great characters to entertain me.

I have two key problems with the characters in this book.

First, in the other series (Stephanie Plum, Fox and O'hare, and Dangerous Minds), there are one or two characters who are really "skilled". Whether that is a good cop, a top-shelf security guy, a world-famous con-artist... whatever it is, there is someone that is really talented. This character helps bridge the gap over the crazy and insane parts. In this series, there is no Ranger, Morelli, Nick, etc. They are all goof-balls fumbling their way through.

Second, in the other series, the main characters have a REASON that they are involved and operating (often) outside the normal legal rules. They are bond agents, FBI agents, eccentric geniuses. There is some rationale. These people are a bunch of nut cases. I just don't find it believable that they don't get arrested.

Because of these two issues, for me, the book becomes just a cartoon. It is just one tick beyond what I am able to "suspend disbelief" to enjoy.

What does that all really mean? If you are dying of Evanovich-withdraw waiting for the next book, you can read these to get you through... but instead... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Janet finish the next book from one of the other series!

Fun book and hilarious. Cheating racecar drivers, a hot ex and a dog that can't stop getting into trouble. This lady has her hands full!

I like the book but it seemed that everything was wrapped up to fast at the end with no details. So much detail going from North Carolina to Florida and boom everything is finished and ppl are Scott free. I don't know I just needed more detail with the ending . The book almost feels like the plot got side railed and never quite put back on track!

Loved book 1 and 2 in this series. Wishing there was going to be more in the future (non graphic novels) bc it was one of my favorites. I love lighthearted and laugh out loud books and this was great. Wish that there was more character depth as far as her family (after all her brother was such a main character in book 1 I would love to see the dynamic that brought her all the way to miami to search and protect him)

Not even close to as good as the Stephanie Plum series. I did not like the characters, only two full characters in the story (the rest are stereotypes), too many people get killed with no emotion involved on anyone's part, and totally amoral ending. Not laugh-out-loud funny anywhere.

Anyone looking for plausibility in this plot has the wrong book. People are constantly showing up at the right (or wrong) place at the right time to drive the plot. If you judged by the number of chance meetings of the main characters, you would think the population of Miami is 500 people at most. But plausibility is not the point. The book is fun. A situation which starts off complicated gets more and more complicated, and comically unexpected, all the time. The characters are entertaining and likable. Even the bad guy murderers have their charms. There is just enough plausibility that the plot holds together, and a few running gags provide extra interconnection and humor. Definitely not high literature, but quite enjoyable.

Another great story in the Alexandra Barnaby series!

Great reading for a fun relaxing day. Highly recommend you try this book. Good characterization and crazy plot. Well worth the time if you need a chuckle.

An excellent sequel to Metro Girl the first Alex Barnaby novel. Alex "Barney" Barnaby and Sam Hooker make an excellent pair in these fast paced, action packed steamy novels. Barney is a hilarious, spunky, sassy character full of wit. Hooker is a Nascar driving, Barney loving hottie. The tag team make for a great second novel in the series. Although they stumble and make some mistakes along the way they're not so bad at the crime fighting, mystery solving business. The additional characters Rosa and Felicia in both Metro Girl and Motor Mouth are really just the icing on the cake. Both no nonsense females are hilarious, under the surface real, take no junk badasses.

I really enjoy the Stephanie Plum series. This felt like a step down. A formula book - the woman trying and failing to resist the charms of a man in her life, the big dog that's making a mess and a woman not real comfortable with guns. The lead character feels like Stephanie Plum without any background. Not horrible - certainly a quick read - but not memorable at all.

I liked this one better than the first, it was hilarious from start to finish. Nothing went as they planned with hilarious results(and lots of dead bodies along the way).

They were so careful when stealing the hauler, making a note of using the gloves and chopping up the cars to make it look like a car theft, that I just knew they were going to get caught somehow. But even after mentioning the dog wasn't there I didn't realize they had left him in the hauler until they said it. My first thought was that someone in the house had let the dog out, not that they had left him in the hauler! But given how tired they were it was totally believable.

I kind of get why, after getting the two character together in the first book, it made sense to have them kind of broken up at the beginning of this book. It also reminded me of National Treasure with the break up off screen/between movies/books. But having him cheat on her seemed a bit much especially since they get back together at the end. It kind of makes them both look bad, him for cheating and her for taking him back with her own thoughts acknowledging that it could or probably would happen again.

I can't wait to start the first of two graphic novels, which just strike me as hilarious for some reason, two books being followed by two graphic novels. =)

I absolutely enjoyed the first book in this series, Metro Girl. But, this was just an OKAY read. I was actually very disappointed as I usually love everything I have read by Janet Evanovich. I just felt that every chapter dragged on and I just couldn't get into the story at all. Maybe it was me but I really didn't enjoy this book at all. I think two stars was a gift!!
