Lots of NASCAR “stuff” in this book and weird gizmos I have no clue about! Unhappy with Hooker in this book. Don’t want to spoil it, so that’s all I will say. I own this book, but it isn’t even worth keeping.

I listened to the audio book.

This started out a smidge slow, but quickly escalated into one of the funniest things I've ever listened to. I'm a long haul trucker, and I listened to this in two shifts. I laughed so often I worried I would wake my husband, and I had tears trying to keep my chuckles quiet.

It is wholly unbelievable that they get away with it all, but I didn't care.

A very fun, dare I say hysterical, listen. I don't know how it would transfer to read the book, but the audio book is a no brainer. LOVED IT!

A funny and zanny mystery about a race car driver and his motor
mechanich girlfriend, with his St. Bernard Beans. A dog with a gas problem, who gets dog napped by gangsters, and how with the help of friends rush

2.5 stars rounded up

Barney is back, now working as a spotter for NASCAR racer Hooker, although their romance that started in the first book is off after he had a drunken one night stand with a waitress. There is plenty of murder and mayhem once they start investigating what has to have been cheating in a race we read about near the start. This book wasn't as good as the first one. There were a couple of really funny parts, but honestly I don't think it has that same "it" factor that the Stephanie Plum series has, and this is, no doubt, why the following two books are just short graphic novels and the series petered out nearly as quickly as it began.

Oh how fun. I’d you like this author. This is in the same vein as the bounty hunter. Laugh out loud Dead men bitten by St. Bernard. Dead man wrapped in plastic. Inept bad guys.
The Uber mother gets even. Little poofy dog. New technology and NASCAR
LOVE HER BOOKS

Fun Evanovich. Just go along for the ride in this comic pulp suspense romp.

The Barnaby series is her best yet!

I've been part of a corporate sponsorship team for a pretty famous/successful NASCAR driver and can attest, although the ones I met are nothing like Hooker, much of the details are real. I've been trackside at the pit and in the hauler. So that's fun.

Their adventures have a good pace, the mysteries keep me interested, and the characters are really fun.

Excellent laugh out loud story!

Anything by Janet Evanovich is word gold, A good story with tons of humor. The plot is easily followed, the characters are both hilarious and real, and the story is very good. I definitely highly recommend this book.

For what it is, this book is decent. It kept my attention, was funny (especially the dog scenes) and is goody enough to be charming. This is a lighthearted mystery where Hooker and Barney get themselves in a bind, but the side characters really make the book. I miss Judy, but Rosa and Felicia are back. I listened to the audiobook and that was well done. I could get a chapter in on short trips. I read anything Janet puts out because I know at some point it is going to make me laugh and this wasn’t any different.

Actually picked up the audio book at Cracker Barrel while we were on vacation. This was the first Evanovich book we had seen.
From the beginning the book was fast paced and funny. My husband had to pull the car over numerous times we were laughing so hard.
this is in my mind the best book she has written. I don't remember the readers name but she was amazing. Anyway if you want a light hearted laugh get this one and enjoy

Not my favorite story

I will continue to read everything Evanovich writes. This one has the usual wide range of players, described so well through their own words and actions--how each talks through body language and verbal interactions. Evanovich has a wonderful grasp on infusing humor throughout, one of the reasons I continue to anticipate each next book! Topic of auto racing itself is just not something of interest, so I sort of skimmed through those details and focused on the people story unfolding. That is, of course, the heart of the book!

Great follow up! Loved it beyond belief. Sent quotes from the book to family and friends. Laughed to hard that my daughter thought I had lost my mind.
