Having recently discovered this writing duo (two sisters) I am totally loving their books, and extra points for the quirky titles. These books have a lot of snark and country humor with smart well developed characters.
Debbie Sue and her friend Edwina run the local beauty salon and after book 1 have decided to do investigations as a second business. Debbie Sue's husband is a Texas Ranger and Edwina's is a former navy seal. It is all they can do to keep these gals out of trouble which is hilarious.
This mystery involves stolen horses and a new girl in town Paige, who is the daughter of rich tycoon. Paige has been told by her daddy she has to start making her own way, stop living off his money and grow up. For a girl who's main hobby was shopping and partying this is a challenge.
Having been raised in the country with animals, horses and cowboys the humor was perfect for me. There is a complete story, backstory, mystery of sorts, murder and romance. It was all wrapped up in small town with gossip abounding - sort of Steel Magnolias vibe.

What a fun book.

Paige seemed like a snooty bitch at the beginning of the novel. By then end, she had "found herself" and was a really good person.

Edwina & Debbie Sue are hair sylists in Salt Lick, Texas, a small town in west Texas. They also own a detective agency called Domestic Equalizers. They've promised their husbands that they would not engage in any violence or real trouble so their main business is taking photos of errant husbands.

Paige is a wealthy girl living off her father's wealth. The jet set life was her lifestyle. He's the richest man in Texas. Finally, he said "no more." She had to find a job. With a little help from her father, she got a job as an assistant to a horse trainer on a ranch near Salt Lick. She rents out Debbie Sue's old house and meets the most gorgeous man ever - he's the town new single vet.

Suddenly, old horses are disappearing. Could they be sold to a slaughterhouse? Who would do such a thing? All these characters come together to solve the mystery.

This horse thiefing is really the secondary plot as the main plot is the romance between Paige & Spur, the new vet in town. In fact, the solving of the crime is anticlimatic. However, overall this is a good story.

Warning - this book does include some mild adult situations, but it was so good. It had everything I love in a book - romance, flirting, meddlers, country boys, cowboys, Texas, and food. The mystery could have been a little stronger and the culprits character developed a bit more. I still don't have a handle on who this prson was. Needless to say, I have requested her other books :) (actually it is a sister team - so their books)

Rich debutante, Paige McBride, meets poor working-class man, Spur Atwater. When Paige, a rich, young woman from Dallas, Texas, meets Spur, a new veterinarian in the small out-of-the-way town of Salt Lick, Texas, the two are immediately attracted to each other because each thinks that other is "hot," but at the same time, they don't believe there can ever be anything between them because they come from completely different backgrounds and they have nothing in common. Turns out, they have plenty in common, but it takes a lot of subplot twists and turns for them to realize it.

Enjoy a tongue-in-cheek romp through the pitfalls of true love as author Dixie Cash captures the flavor of small-town Texas as seen through the eyes of a spoiled, rich city slicker like Paige McBride.

This is just crazy; it's a bit too many cardboard cutout characters even for my tastes.

This is one of my favorite books! The characters are lovable, and the two love interests are darling. I enjoyed reading a book about a woman who came from money for once and a guy who didn't come from money and couldn't care less about the size of her bank account/inheritance, either -- 'twas refreshing and didn't feel like a trope that's been so used it's prune-y from being watered down so much.

I was so sad when it ended. :/

again another great book. these two women get in more trouble then they know how to handle but always find away to get out of it. laughing out waking the husband tends to happen with these books just light and fun.

This is a solid entry in the same category as the other two that I've read by this author. Again, heavy on the romance, light on the mystery. So, if you're looking for solid mysteries, this isn't your book. The story, however, is interesting and well told. The author creates really vivid characters that are hard to forget and easy to like.
