Here we are, 159 years after the original publication of Dostoevsky's "Notes From Underground" Still discussing its relevance in today's society, it's amazing that it has remained relevant for the greater part of 2 centuries. I can't say that Dostoevsky changed my life or opened my eyes to some new and different way of thinking. I can't even say for certain if I enjoyed the book or not. I can't say that I even understood 90 percent of the book. I can say tho, that the 10 percent my feeble, underdeveloped, primitive brain did understand was very profound and thought-provoking and I highly enjoyed that part of it.
My problem is, that I want to like existential literature more than I actually do. I want to read these "profound" "life-changing" books by these amazing fathers of a movement but, when I read them, I'm left feeling underwhelmed, and unchanged. I'm going to keep trying tho.
