I have always loved the Little Mouse and the Big Hungrry Bear story, and this Christmas story did not disappoint. Little Mouse is getting ready for Christmas, and does everything he can to protect his presents from the Big Hungry Bear, that is until he finds out that nobody ever gives presents to the bear. He then loads p a sled and sneaks to the bear's cave and gives him a Christmas surprise, only to find that the bear gives him a gift as well. Love the illustrations, love the writing, and love the message.
The illustrations are absolutely adorable in this story, in which the writer is talking to the little mouse in the story. My only disappointment was that we never get to see the big hungry bear. It is cute and we enjoyed it.
This book had a 'sweet thought' to it but just didn't catch and keep my granddaughter and mine attention. It's written as if the reader is talking to the mouse in the book. Making him feel guilty and sorry for the bear in the cave all alone. He does take him his gifts even though he's kind of scared which was nice...but the story just didn't flow like I would have liked, it was choppy and at times you had to turn the page back to make sure you didn't skip a page by mistake.
This husband and wife team does it again! They do it every time! :D The little mouse is confronted with the big hungry bear again---love his facial expressions!
Baby was intrigued by this book. He loves “The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear” and this is the Christmas book featuring the same characters. It was nice. I didn’t think it was as good as the original but it is good. I like the message of compassion, bravery, sharing!
The Little Mouse is back, and this time he's all ready for Christmas. But he worries what might happen if the Big, Hungry Bear decides he wants to steal all of his presents...
When they started reading this at Book Babies at the library last December my childhood mind was thoroughly blown that there was a follow-up to one of our family's favorite children's books. My eyes popped and my jaw dropped as I took in the same charm and fun and tone and feeling of the original book, but with a delightful Christmas story and message which happen to make the Big, Hungry Bear realer than ever. It was fun to note little details that recalled the first book, and it's even a little heartwarming at the end. I definitely had to hunt down a few copies of this for last-minute Christmas presents a few weeks ago.
This book is a blast to read out loud. I've read it several times at Christmas over the years and tonight, just for fun, I read it out loud to my dog, JJ. She wasn't impressed but I sure had fun! The pictures are so colorful and expressive!
This book is about a little mouse adventuring through Christmas. His adventure includes the joys of the holiday while escaping a big hungry bear. This is an easy read for a first grade class.
