The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear is one of my all-time favorite picture books, so I was thrilled to see the characters return in a delightful Christmas story with a nice little message.

I LOVE this Christmas book about a little mouse who goes to extreme measures to make sure EVERYONE gets a Christmas present, even the Big Hungry Bear. The mouse is ultimately rewarded in the end by a BIG present of his very own. One of my favorites!

This book tells how big hungry bear doesn't get anything for Christmas not even from Santa Claus although little mouse wants to give him a present, but when he gets there is already a present from hungry bear to him.

A great addition to the other Big Hungry Bear book. Simple text for young readers. Very vibrant pictures. I love that the mouse doesn't open the present in the end. Kids imagination runs wild with what could be inside.

Awesome! The mouse and the big hungry bear are both back and for Christmas. This long awaited sequel is the perfect holiday treat. Loved it.

Beautiful, charming illustrations.

Leaves you with some big questions:

Why do we never see the bear? Is it agoraphobic? Does it need help?

And who is the narrator? Why is it up in everybody's business?

First of all, the illustrations here are luminous. Artwork in a Don and Audrey Wood book is always going to be amazing and I think the artwork here is above and beyond that. You will rarely find a better characterization of a mouse.
I found this book before I found the original, not sure how I missed it for that long, so this is how I met this lovable mouse who shows himself to have a heart of gold. I love the small details in the art here, such as the fact that he goes to decorate Bear's tree but the decor only goes so high since he can only carry so much from his house and also he's a mouse. Super adorable, good message, this is my go-to nonreligious holiday read-aloud.

If you are a fan of the original, you can’t miss little mouse in his Christmas story. Begs to be read minute times.
