Updated review 31 March 2016:
The fate of change, which happens either we wanted it to or not. Dealing with change is one of the most important skills that we have to gain in order to make the life we want. As many reviewers have said: you cannot skip any part of this book, if u do, u wont understand the point and the process of the wisdom in it. on every page u have to ask your self and answer: How does this apply to my life? I recommended this book to several people, I've also bought the children edition for my beautiful niece and nephew :). As an overall advice: u have to read it more than once, and maybe on a 'yearly' bases! :)

"What would you do if you weren't afraid?" - Haw

"Who Moved My Cheese" is a very short booklet, and an inspirational call for people who know, or may not know, that they need change but refuse getting out of their comfort zones simply because, they are afraid of what's hidden for them in the future; the unpredictable.

Surprisingly the writer describes literally a situation I am going through right now. Sometimes we need to adapt to changes, which is NOT EASY -from experience- but some other times, change must be initiated from within; Two faces of the same coin. I am glad I am already on my journey to find a new cheese!

This book reminds me of an old Groucho Marx routine: Patient: Doctor, I get a stabbing pain in my eye every time I take a drink of tea. What should I do? Doctor: Take the spoon out of the cup. [rim-shot]. Sadly, the lack of ability to see the obvious is pandemic in the corporate world, so I am not at all surprised that this restatement of the obvious was such a major hit in the business world. Not that I am cynical after my life as a corporate prisoner, but my observation is that there really are a lot of people in business so clueless that this book IS a revelation to them. My observations are not limited to the lower rungs of the corporate ladder. This disease goes all the way to the top and is especially rampant among middle and upper management. The interesting thing is that in the corporate life, everybody sees themselves as Dilbert, but nobody sees themselves as the pointy-haired boss, Ted the Marketing guy, the clueless VP, or as one of the Elbonian workers. Only a few see themselves as Alice or Wally. HEY, WE CAN'T ALL BE DILBERT HERE! Sadly, even the most motivated of corporate drones read books like this only because their boss read it because someone else read it or heard about it at one of those motivational seminars put on by the author. The whole business world then has a businessgasm about this revelation-du-jour--and the very next day, goes back to doing what they have always done and thinking the way they have always thought--until the next business book restating the obvious or putting a new face on recycled ideas from the jurasic period comes out. And so, the saga continues.

Who moved my cheese? - Dr. Spencer Johnson - A parable, A fable, and the power of allegory redefined

This self-help book is a change management handbook that contains fiction, non-fiction, and a mixture of both of them.

This writing style reminds me of 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell, 'Rich Dad Poor Dad' by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter, 'A Speech to the Academy' by Franz Kafka, and other old fables and parables from ancient times.

This book analyzes human mental conditions such as depression, ego, and overthinking and how to overcome such situations.

The best thing about this is its simple approach with over just 95 pages the writer covers many aspects of change management in business management and many aspects of human mental conditions.

I as a business management graduate this book reminded me of 'Kurt Lewin's Change Management theory'.

The story depicted in the book uses four characters to show four types of people who face change and their responses which is very insightful and inspiring.

As a person and a student who failed my tertiary education related to law, who stopped two MBA's and also didn't do well career-wise this book's content reminds me of "Hem", who everyone should avoid being. But I'm trying to change and this book helped me to recognize myself as a person in many roles in society.

"Just when he thought he was getting ahead, he would get lost in the corridors. It seemed his progress was two steps forward and one step backward. It was a challenge, but he had to admit that being back in the maze, hunting for cheese, wasn't nearly as bad as he feared it might be."

- Pg. 50 -

This book is a global phenomenon. By tackling famous socialist concepts in the above quote the book provides a guiding light to the post-socialist world.

I'm giving it 2 stars simply because it's mildly amusing. Makes interesting points but these are not things that any grown person hasn't already figured out. I think this would be better suited for a high school student for the purpose of preparing to go out into the real world some day. It could give them a little forward look and maybe it would even help them realize that every little thing is not the end of the world. Tomorrow will come. Remember whenyou were 14 or 15. Everything was the fucking end of it all. Beyond that, the book is completely useless.

If you receive this uninspiring, revolting piece of trash from your employer, start looking for another job -- the end is near!

Change is inevitable, but it doesn't mean workers should sit back and accept everything corporate America dishes out.

After his adventure in the maze, Haw wrote a bestselling book about his cheese sayings and sold it in exchange for royalties in cheese. Now he gets all types of cheese simply sitting on his bottom in one corner of the maze while the others run around looking for cheese after reading his book.
