“ What would you do it you weren’t afraid ? “

It’s all about Change (which inevitably always happen to every one of us).

For me, it helps us understanding people, ourself included, when facing with some changes in life or changes that needed to happen
so that we would be at ease and deal with it efficiently, for the better.

‘Cause “Change”, doesn’t always have to be a bad thing, could be scary sometimes yes, but on the contrary, it can very well lead us to better things.

So.. it’s a quick easy-to-read kind of book, yet can be very useful.
I like the simplicity of the story because this way we can easily always remember those 4 characters , Sniff Scurry Haw Hem ,and what they represented, in order to adapt and adjust it to our personal life or to understand some situations and many people around us.

Let’s just give it a try ;)

When my boss first gave me this book to read, I was definately in place where I had no interest in even knowing what my attitude was towards change. After taking an hour to read the book, I found it to be ridiculous and that it didn't apply to me at all -- "I had always been an advocate for change, what the hell was my boss trying to tell me?"

After going through some difficult times at work with restructure and having to change peoples' roles and responsibilities, I decided to re-read the story about 2 men and 2 mice and what their outlook on change was. To my surprise, because I was actually looking for help with regards to moving my people forward and helping adjust to the changes that were happening around them, I found the book to be more than helpful. I recognized that for the longest time, I was pretty closed minded and was definately going to die with the cheese if I didn't start embracing change and the outcomes it brings. I also recognized that I had a sniff, a scurry, a hem and lots of haws running around my team. With that knowledge, it helped me focus on how to manage them better which delivered better results from them and also made them happier employees.

The review in English down

Spencer Johnson talks in this book " as a received a B.A. degree in psychology from the University of Southern California in 1963 " about the Second important basic needs in Maslow's hierarchy of needs

, " Safety needs " , and how to deal with that ,

and as I Reported in a Previous review " in Arabic "
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

that civilized man is who controls his Instincts and Lust for his Personal interest ,

Spencer Focused on Reluctance to change , as people likely would be safe and Freezing in place , than change their life , and take the risk of new unknown life , they fear what they do not know ,

Spencer at this simple story teaches how to deal with that

Statistics say that the American citizen changes his job every 4 years ,
so it is a big deal for them to pay for this book ,

unlike the Europeans who see this a shit , & can not believe that is a best seller book !!

Writer Debug this topic perfectly ,

Quotations " cheese could be any of your goals or dreams etc .." :-

-Remember: Move with the Cheese!

-"We should never just sit here and see what happens. or say Sooner or later they have to put the Cheese back."

-If You Do Not Change, You Can Become Extinct.

-Remember " What Would You Do If You Weren't Afraid ? "

-Take control, rather than simply letting things happen to you.

-He should expect change to happen and look for it.

-Then ask yourself the same question again, "What would I do if I weren't afraid?"

-When You Move Beyond Your Fear, You Feel Free.

-Again and again ,Do what you would do if you weren't afraid.

-Haw realized he had been held captive by his own fear. Moving in a new direction had freed him. so take care of that :D

-Imagining yourself Enjoying New Cheese Even Before you Find It, Leads you To It.

-Do not do like Hem when he said " "I don't think I would like New Cheese. It's not what I'm used to. I want my own Cheese back and I'm not going to change until I get what I want."

-It Is Safer To Search In The Maze Than Remain In A Cheeseless Situation

-Change could surprise you only if you didn't expect it and weren't looking for it.

-Old Beliefs Do Not Lead You To New Cheese

-When you change what you believe, you change what you do. You can believe that a change will harm you and resist it. Or you can believe that finding New Cheese will help you, and embrace the change. It all depends on what you choose to believe.

-Noticing Small Changes Early Helps You Adapt To The Bigger Changes That Are To Come.

-The fastest way to change is to laugh at your own folly-then you can let go and quickly move on.

-You can choose between the end.. .. or is it a new beginning!!

-Always ask yourself " 'What would you do if you weren't afraid?'"

-It Is Important To paint a realistic picture of 'New Cheese'

-May what we really need to let go of is the behavior that is the cause of our bad relationship not the relationship .

-" A change imposed is A change opposed. "

-Finally , Do not Take a design to just fit in .

done.

AWFUL. Only a 5 years old kid who would like this shit. I think if I ever had a manager who will ask me to read it, I'll throw it in his face, or roll it in his ass. This book drove me crazy.

In a nutshell, the book talks about change, how it is possible, how we should anticipate it and be ready for it, how we should be able to detect the signs that change is near, how we should quickly accept and adapt to change and how we should just change when it is needed. It focuses on the importance of getting out from one's comfort zone and explore other opportunities in the world.

It was an ok read, but what bothered me about the book is how the lesson was explained even before the story started, where is the fun in that???! I understand the book was written for all ages, but even little kids would have understood the point without the excessive explaining.

I didn't enjoy reading this book perhaps I was in a bad mood.  It followed four different characters, whom took different paths to reach their goals for living their entire lives. The book is a short story which teaches us  how to accept change and deal with it wisely, and strive to achieve our aspires.

The language is pretty easy and the book is simple and beautifully written.

I like cheese. So when I saw a bestselling personal development book about one of the best foods ever, I decided to borrow it from my local library.

It's a short book, and I didn't expect it to deliver a lot. But by the end, I learned the importance of adapting to change and the importance of it.

It's a beautiful little book that everyone should read (at least once).

5 stars.
